We Still Miss Shiloh

Well, good, wonderful, beautiful, rainy day Pawdience! It is raining like crazy today! That's ok! We've had a couple of good nice days. Today is a good day to hang out inside and get stuff done. Alright! I gotta show you guys, what came in the mail today! So, I'm sure if you watch Mike and Brittany's vlogs, you've already seen this stuff. And yes! I got suckered into it as well! That was actually a different company though. These are a little bit different. They're a little bit shinier. I don't know how to explain it, but they're shinier. A little softer on the inside. I'm just going to pull it all off of there and put it in a pile and see what all I got. See what I need to put away. See what I need to get rid of. I think the letters are going to be ready to go up today too. Let's do this! When you put it all on the table, it looks like a lot of stuff. But, I got it all off of there. Got that all cleaned up. Now, we're going to figure out who's stuff goes where. As soon as we figure out what order the letters go in. Look at how little this is! This was Shiloh's Urban Mushing Harness. Look at! It's tiny! This would not even come close to fitting you. It's huge compared to Shelby. Shelby's like, nope! Nope! I don't want it on. Yeah, I know. Memphis is the same way. It's so little! Want to sniff it? She's like, no! Want to sniff it? She's like, no! And then this! My gosh! Memphis wore this when she was really, really little. Look! It's so tiny! Let me get you one to compare. I don't know how easy it is for you guys to compare them looking like this. Look at the size difference! Shiloh was such a tiny little thing. She was so tiny! This fit Nora for a while. I don't know if it still does. But, it did for a while. Compared to Memphis'es harness. Gosh! She was so small! I think that's the order it's going to go in. Shelby Memphis, Shelby Oakley. And then like, the belts and stuff are going to go off to the side. But, I'm missing some of my leashes. I have a couple of six foot long leashes that I'm missing. I don't know where they are. These are some of the original leashes that we used. Wow! The color on this looks super funky. Probably because the light is coming in the window funny. But anyway, these were the original leashes I used. This was Shiloh's old leash. This one here. But, I don't really use these as much anymore. Because now I use these. So, I'm going to set those aside. I'm not going to get rid of them. I'm just going to set them aside. Now, I need to track down our other six foot long leashes. Do you know where they are? Oakley doesn't know where they are. You guys just think you're going for a walk. Because I'm playing with collars and leashes. You've been guarding the door for the past twenty minutes. Maybe we'll go for a walk when I'm done. But, I got to finish first. It did quit raining. I showed you guys earlier this morning. It was pouring rain. It did quit raining. So, that's a good thing. Shelby's like, are we going? Can we go now? We're not going yet. I got to finish this. Are you ready? Are you ready to show them what it looks like? And... Ta-da! That's definitely pretty cute. I think I love it. I do. I think I love it. That looks pretty cute. We'll have to show Jamie when he comes up here. See what he thinks about it. I love it. Do you want to show them? This was a mutual thing because you painted it. I did. I did. I organized it. We're showing them. It's a start, right? It's a start of the finished mud room. Look! I like that. Doesn't it look cute? When you tell me or ask me to grab Shelby's leash... Or collar. I'll know where it's at. Instead of putting the wrong collar on the wrong dog. Jamie came to Agility one night and Memphis had Oakley's collar on. Which was fine. Except for some reason I was like... I just couldn't find it. Yeah, I don't think it was... I think it was in the mess. Look at the mess that is still on the table. I found all Shiloh's old harnesses and stuff. They're so tiny. What? Doesn't it? Now we gotta figure out where that goes. I think that needs to go in the garage. Just look from here over. Look! It looks great! I think I have to take them for a walk. Wanna go for a walk? They're like, yeah! You played with leashes the whole time. It's so crazy that it started off today super yucky and rainy. And now... It's literally clear blue sky. Not a cloud in the sky. Turned out pretty good. These girls were going absolutely crazy. I was cleaning up the leashes and harnesses. I'm taking Memphis and Shelby first. Then I'll take Oakley by herself. Mainly because Oakley is a lot slower than these two. Now it's just Oakley and I. Watch the hump, honey. We have to walk a very specific way. This corner is the worst. Right here. We're good. I gotta watch Oakley to make sure she doesn't trip. So we try to walk around wherever the cement is the smoothest. She's like, yeah! I got this! I really don't think she knew that she was going for a walk. But the other dogs definitely knew that collars and leashes meant walks. I let her walk at her own pace. I don't let her run. Every once in a while she wants to run. I don't let her run. We just walk. Take it nice and slow. What? Turned out to be another dog gone good day, huh? You know, it's really funny to me that at one point in time we called this channel, Without the Snow Dogs. We actually called it that because we didn't want people to think that this channel was all about the dogs. A whole bunch of birds just flew by. You saw them, didn't you? You know, like the dogs were going to be here but it wasn't going to be all about them. Since we had gone to the Snow Dogs we thought Without the Snow Dogs was a pretty creative name. But all it ever did was confuse people. So quite a few years ago we changed it to Snow Dogs Vlogs. I'm pretty happy with it. What you think Shelby? Are you hungry? Want some dinner after your walk? Did you go for a walk? You already went for a walk. Are you hungry? Let's have some dinner. What you think Oakley? Dinner time? Alright! Let's go have some dinner. Everybody's enjoying dinner. Except for Memphis. She finished hers super fast. You ate it all. Sorry. It's all gone. You ate it all. I'm making dinner as well. I'm going to show you guys what I'm making. I made homemade pizza. Did you know you can buy frozen pizza dough in a bowl at the grocery store? It works the best for homemade pizza. That looks like a pretty good pizza to me. This side has a little black olives. That side has extra. I can see where your pieces are. Extra black olives. It's hot. We might want to let it sit for a minute. That would be a good idea. Looks good though, don't it? Pretty darn good. Wow! My hair looks like crap too. I'm showing you too. You're getting me to clean my nose. Better not put that on camera. I'm putting it on camera. I already have my hat on. This is how tonight ended. I have to say something. I mean I don't have to, but I'm going to anyway. You guys saw Oh, I got a tear leaking down my face. You guys saw that we redid the landing area where the dog's fleeces and collars and all that stuff was. Shortly after I did it I realized that that was the first time since Shiloh passed away I can't even talk about it that her harness isn't hanging there. Her leash and her collar and stuff haven't been hanging there. Her harnesses have always been there. The weird part is her harnesses have been used. We let Memphis use them when she was tiny. Norris used them. It's not like Shiloh was the last dog that ever used them. They've always been hanging there. I don't know. I got to the point where I had the stuff is still sitting on the table. I haven't been able to do anything with it. That's the thing. Now you have to find a place for her. Yeah. You're going to cry too. Don't cry at camera. Shelby. Shelby, want to play a tennis ball? I don't know. I felt like talking about it. But we did come to the realization that you know She's going to play with that ball. For Oakley's raccoon and for Shelby's squeaky ball. Yeah. I want to order Oakley a blue harness. For her sled dog harness. Even if she never used it. I want to get her a blue one. I never got her a blue one. You don't have to do it in the snow. Right. We'll have to put it on her and take a picture of her. Shelby. Shelby's like You guys are crying? I will distract you with the noisy tennis ball. I don't know. It was five years ago. Most of the people watching this video probably have no idea who she is. That's not true. I don't think everybody does. I think more people on the dogs main channel remember Shiloh than people on this channel remember Shiloh. She's our first snow dog. If you guys don't know who she is I'll try to remember to put a link on the dogs channel to her video of who she was. Check our website. I think it's under there. What do you think Miss Memphis? I don't know. I just kind of had a moment. I just had a moment. Only I couldn't get over it. Then Jamie comes in and he's like What's wrong? I'm like gosh dang it. You're gonna make me say it. I didn't cry until you came in here and asked me. I just sat here angry. Not angry. What's the word I'm looking for? Frustrated? I don't know. I need to blow my nose. Hi Shelby. Do you have any idea how cute you are right now? She's like mom stop it. Oakley's like dad let me outside. I think the other part of it too was like I took the dogs for a walk Hi. Yeah not now. We're not going for a walk right now. Outside. The key word should be outside right now. But I took them for a walk. Sorry. My brain's not functioning. Anyway these two did great as they always do and then I take Oakley by herself because I let her take her time and that way she doesn't feel rushed and you know we're just trying to make sure that she gets a little bit more exercise and I don't know. She has such a hard time and that makes me feel bad and that reminds me that she's getting old and then I realize they're all getting old and I just had a day. I had a moment. I was triggered by moving stuff. Okay. Oakley's like if you don't let me out I'm going to pee in your lap. Anyway. This is real life guys. She's been gone for over five years and we still have days like this. But I think anybody that's ever lost anyone can relate. Yeah and if you ever end up having more than one pet you'll all go through the same thing. Over and over and over Why do we torture ourselves? Oh wait. I know why. She's like let me out. Give me my ball. Stop doing all these things. That's what she wanted. And that's why. Yeah. Thanks Shelby. Go outside. Memphis is like Memphis do you want to stay with me or do you want to go outside? She's thinking about it. She's listening. She hasn't gotten up yet. She's listening. Oh he's coming back for you. He's coming back for you. He came back for you. She's like Do you hear her sigh? She's like I can't leave my mama. I have to stay with my mama. Go outside Memphis. Go on. I'll be right here. Go outside. She really don't have to go. Alright. Go outside. Anyway. Sorry for the sad moment. Sorry. It is what it is. It's part of life. You didn't even make it down the steps. Is that what you're doing? The only thing is with this couch if I try to move you see on the old couch she would just flop over. She won't. No. She might move to the other corner. Here. Move. She'll move all the way over there. She loves that pillow. That's why I said you can't not put it there. She loves it. That's what I said. Now she's mad. I had that spot warm. Now you made me move. If Memphis is there, she will turn over and lay on Memphis. She used to just like flop. You goofy dogs. Goofy, goofy, goofy dogs. Thanks for making me smile though. Oakley is sound asleep already. Alright you guys. Sorry the vlog got sad. We're gonna end it. We're going to bed. I need to get some sleep. I had a rough evening. Some days, sometimes you just have days like that, huh?
