🍴 RECIPE: Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients (makes 6–8 biscuits):
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening (or cold butter)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (add a splash more if needed)
👩🍳 INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
3. Cut in shortening (or butter) with hands until mixture is crumbly.
4. Add buttermilk and gently stir until dough comes together.
5. Transfer dough to a floured surface, pat or roll to about 1-inch thickness.
6. Cut biscuits using a round cutter (or cup).
7. Place on a baking sheet lined with silicone mat or parchment, leaving space between.
8. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
