The New England Patriots have just made multiple moves as we have some major updates from Mike
Frabel with a signing to the active roster, a signing on the practice squad, and another move
that was, well, expected, but now we have official as well. So we're going to get all those moves to
you and all the latest updates on the New England Patriots as we are just a day away from practice
starting for week number three. So welcome to Patriots Digest, everybody. I'm Chase Andrews,
and I hope you're having a fantastic day wherever you guys might be. We appreciate all watching,
hanging out with us, and tuning in. And we got a lot to talk about, so let's get right into the
show today. And we start with all three moves. One was expected, one was kind of a needed one,
and then the third one was the one we're going to talk about the most. The first one that was
expected, Michael Wenyou, is going to be placed on injured reserve. We'll get a little bit of a
note on that in just a moment, so we'll come back to it in a moment. But they also signed
punter Mitch Wyschnowski to the 30-3 roster. This was a necessary thing, knowing Bryce
on the IR as well. He was going to be out for the first four weeks, so we knew they were going to
have to at some point sign Wyschnowski to the 33-man. They do it now. They also, having a practice
squad open from moving Wyschnowski to the 33-man, they signed tight end Tanner Connor to the practice
squad. He played in 33 games for the Dolphins over the last four seasons and spent this past year
around the training camp area with the New York Giants. So those are your roster moves. A lot to
break down with this. We'll start with Michael Wenyou. It doesn't sound like Mike Vrabel is going
to be, you know, giving up yet. He had a comment on, you know, saying in the short term we have
Wenyou, but never really said, oh, his season's over. But a lot of reports kind of see that this
could potentially be the end of Wenyou's time in New England, like legitimately with his contract
this year. There's a possibility we have seen the final snap of him, and it stinks because we haven't
even gotten to week three yet. Speaking of week three, that starts off this Thursday with the
Packers and Atlanta Falcons will take off in Thursday night football. You can trade on Cal
right now. Yes, for the Packers to win at 71 percent or yes on the Falcons to win and on
cashier trading directly against other users, not the house like an additional sports book.
You're buying yes or no contracts in the outcome of events across sports politics or even the
weather. Now, I feel as though I might want to trade here for the Falcons or for the Packers
to win, but I'm going to go one step further and the Falcons, they haven't looked good.
So what am I going to do? I'm going to trade on the Packers winning by nine and a half points,
twenty five dollars on that trade. I'll give me sixty three dollars and five cents. We've got a
deal that you can't find anywhere else because if you're interested in trying out how she today
and you use the link in the description or on the pinned comment and then using this code
digest NFL, if you put in a twenty five dollar trade, you're going to get fifty five extra
dollars. So go check that out today and it's going to be a really, really nice payday. You
get twenty five dollars on the trade plus an extra fifty five. So in your pocket right away,
you're getting eighty dollars with a twenty five dollar trade. So go check it out today with the
link in the description. Now, as for Michael, when you, as I said, Mike Vrabel did not want to
like say that he was out for the entire season when the comment was made, he said that he won't
be available in the short term, hinting at a multi-week absence. If you saw the injury,
if you understand, you know, the way that looks, I feel like this very easily could be the season
ending in an injury. Now, Jordan Schultz, who is a I'd say mid reputable reporter, did come out and
believe this is the end of his season. But again, we not are we're not 100 percent positive about
that because they haven't come out and said it. I are means at least four games, not that big a
deal, kind of pretty obvious there when you saw that his ankle was, you know, not not exactly
looking the right way. But either way, always prayers to when you hopefully can come back and
hopefully this isn't the end of his Patriots tenure being in a contract here, though it really
does suck for a lot more. But let's go into some other of the moves here today. Of course,
Wisniewski will go on the active roster. I mentioned that this was going to happen at
some point with Bryce Berenger being out at least four games starting the season on there.
So we knew that this was a move that was coming in the short term. We didn't exactly know when
that was going to happen, but we had the expectation that it was going to transpire
within the next couple of weeks. Now, with the IR spot for when you open up the spot,
pretty easy one for one flip. It's yet to be seen. You know, when Bryce Berenger comes back,
when he comes back, of course, at that point, probably cutting Wisniewski. So, you know,
credit to him. He's actually been really solid for a guy that we kind of just picked up on the blue.
I mean, you look at his punts through his first two games, has a combined eight punts averaging
about 45 yards along a 54 solid. I mean, there's really nothing there. And he also has four punts
inside the 20. So again, everything you think about with what he's been able to do, it's been
solid and definitely a good thing given the injury to Berenger that was, you know, obviously
pretty concerning for Mike Vrabel. But of course, I think the biggest move to me was definitely
the signing of Tanner Connor out of Idaho State. They actually brought in four tight ends yesterday
for tryouts. Tanner Connor, Devin Colt, Lance Mason, and then Patrick Murtaugh. Obviously,
at this point, I think we know that there's a potential given the signing, given they were
looking for tight ends, that Eli Roriden's injury is probably a little bit more than what they want
to give on. As for Connor, though, 6'3", 232, UDFA out of Idaho State in 22. He had 12 catches for
107 yards in 33 career NFL games. The Dolphins, five grabs to 41 yards this preseason with the
New York football giants. So I think there's some positive to him. Obviously, he is just on the
would not be shocked, though, if he gets elevated just because the tight end room is somewhat thin
when you think about it. You've got Hunter Henry, Eli Roriden. Obviously, if he's injured and given
the injury and then, of course, having the people try out, I feel like it's going to be an injury
that will keep him out at least for a week or two. Tanner Arkin was a scratch this past week,
a healthy scratch. He didn't play an inactive there. And then, you know, Westover, he was on
but he's more of a fullback in my mind. So you just don't have a lot of, you know,
options in some ways to go out there and put yourself in a good spot. So I wouldn't be shocked
if we have Connor, you know, up on the 53-man roster for the next couple of games while the
recovery of Aridon goes through. Now, as of right now, we don't exactly know how long Aridon will be
out. We obviously have a thought process that maybe he's going to be out for a couple weeks,
but nothing was, like, said about, oh, he's this or this. I mean, yesterday, Mike Grable
commented on the injury, saying, you know, we'll see how he gets in here and feels today.
There was no other report past that. Tomorrow, we'll find out a lot with the first injury report
of week number three, and it's going to be a pretty big one for the Patriots because you're
going to have Draymond Jones probably on there at some capacity. You're going to have Eli Aridon
in some capacity. You're going to have Carlton Davis on there in some capacity. You're going to
have Del Pettis on there. There's just a lot of names we're going to be watching for for tomorrow's
injury report. It's going to be pretty key. It's going to be pretty key, if you say the least.
It is kind of funny, though. The Patriots did cut Zylstra from the practice squad last week,
so kind of an intriguing timeline of this, of them cutting him, where Aridon gets hurt,
and then, of course, now they're bringing back other guys. They could have just signed Shane
back. He was still a free agent. They decided that it wasn't the thing. They decided, you know,
cut him for a reason, so Tanner Conner comes in, had the best tryout of the four, at least by the
signing purposes. Devon Cope, Lance Mason, Patrick Murtaugh were also options, but overall, lots of
moves here for the New England Patriots and some ones that are pretty pivotal going forward. Now,
again, we'll see what happens tomorrow. I think that's going to be a real teller as to what we're
going to see from this team and if there's going to be more signings that need to be made, if there's
going to need to be more moves that need to be made, because that secondary could become thin
without Carlton Davis again, and then you have, of course, you think about Charles Woods, who,
I mean, he played really well, but you're out Carlton Davis for a second week. Obviously,
the safety room is in a bad spot with Craig Woodson being injured, Del Pettis being injured,
so there could be an option for the Patriots to go out there and get somebody in the secondary
in this week. Right now, we just have to kind of wait. We don't really know. Obviously,
there's no talking today. There's no media. There's no practice, so we just don't have a
full sign. We know these moves, and that's all we got, so let me know what you think about this.
Injury report tomorrow will be huge, and we'll talk to you then. For now, guys, peace out.
