This Nomatic fanny pack has enough room to carry considerably more than a typical pocket-sized EDC pouch, so I built this one specifically around the idea of an urban everyday carry loadout.

The question was simple: if I were heading into the city for the day, what would I actually want with me for convenience, utility, and a little extra peace of mind?

The Nomatic pack itself is surprisingly capable. It includes an RFID-blocking compartment for things like your wallet, cards, or phone, along with multiple internal sections that let me keep the tools separated from the rest of the gear.

The exterior is also designed with weather resistance in mind. It uses inverted zippers, water-resistant materials, and seam construction that helps keep water from simply sitting on exposed stitching and soaking through the pack.

The strap is made from heavy-duty seatbelt-style nylon, giving the whole thing a much more substantial feel than a lightweight fashion waist pack.

For the actual EDC loadout, I wanted a mixture of tools and practical items that could cover the kinds of problems I might realistically run into while spending a day away from home. That includes a Gerber Suspension NXT multitool, a compact VTIGER LED flashlight, and an Exotac nanoSPARK, along with the rest of the everyday utility gear packed throughout the bag.

This isn’t really a survival kit and it isn’t meant to be an oversized emergency bag. It’s an urban EDC system built around carrying useful equipment without having to stuff everything into your pockets.
