My Mower Loadout | Gear I Use for Long Days

When you’re mowing for hours at a time, the little things start to matter.

This is my personal zero-turn mower loadout—the gear I’ve settled on after years of mowing and maintaining a larger property. This isn’t a guide on how to mow or a complete collection of everything I use to maintain my mower. It’s simply the equipment I grab when it’s time to suit up, get on the mower, and spend a good portion of the day cutting grass.

My setup starts before I even get on the mower. I do a preliminary sweep with a grabber and small bucket to pick up nails, metal, sticks, and other debris I’d rather find before the mower does.

From there, my loadout includes hearing and eye protection, communications, property controls, marker flags, and a few small conveniences I’ve learned to appreciate during long mowing sessions.

The Bluetooth earmuffs have been one of the biggest improvements. I get hearing protection while still being able to listen to music and hear calls and phone notifications without wearing earbuds for hours at a time. I also carry a walkie-talkie as an additional way to communicate with someone back at the house.

A few marker flags stay in the fanny pack so if I discover a hole, stump, or something else that needs attention, I can mark it and keep mowing instead of stopping the entire job.

Nothing here is intended to turn mowing into a complicated operation. It’s simply a practical everyday-use loadout built from experience.
