An 80-year-old woman in Seattle is recovering after being hit in the head during a violent carjacking earlier this week.
Delia Matabilas said the attack happened Monday night as she was unloading her car in the parking lot of the senior apartments where she lives in the Central District neighborhood.
“He was asking for my car keys. I could not say a word because I was shocked. I cannot believe a person could attack a poor, old woman,” Matabilas told KOMO News.
One of the suspects put a gun to her stomach, and another slapped her in the face.

Yeah, and Eric, we have covered the warning about the increase in carjackings around Seattle
and suspects who apparently have no regard for their victims, and they'll often choose
vulnerable people like the 80-year-old woman we talked to tonight.
We don't even treat animals like that.
Delia Mctabulus's black eye will heal.
I cannot sleep and I don't feel like eating.
But the fear from being violently attacked may never go away.
I cannot believe a person will attack an old, poor woman.
At 80 years old, Delia was parking her car outside her apartment building in Seattle's
Central District when she says three men approached her and demanded her keys.
She says one guy put a gun to her stomach and another smacked her across the head.
And I bumped to the door of the car.
I feel like my brain was shaking, so I was afraid I might have brain injury.
It's very chaotic.
The city of Seattle is going downhill.
Josephine Iwatani is Delia's friend.
It used to be a really nice neighborhood over here.
It's mostly Japanese neighborhood.
She says this is a community that watches out for each other, but lately, with gun violence,
stolen cars, and now the violent attack on Delia, this isn't the place it once was.
I'm not even proud of the city of Seattle now.
How can you abuse a person that did not do anything wrong to you?
I did not even say a word.
Delia says she doesn't have the money to buy a new car, but even if she did, her sense
of safety is something that can't be replaced.
We have to love each other, because that's what God wants us to do.
Police are still looking for her stolen SUV, and it's important to know she did exactly
what police tell people to do in this situation, which is to just comply.
She says she was so shocked it took her a minute to get the keys out.
That's when she says she was punched right in the face.
Just a disturbing story, and we'll let you know if there are any arrests made.
Reporting live tonight in Seattle, Jeremy Harris, KOMO News.
