Brandon Aiyuk's 49ers Return Raises Major Questions

Brandon Ayuk is back in San Francisco. He owes money to the San Francisco 49ers for not playing. And the comments that are being made by the team don't seem to me to be anything more than just eyewash at this point. Joe, I guess he has to come back in order to play, but this guy doesn't have $13 million to give back. No offense to Brandon Ayuk. To the team. So I really don't know how this ends up playing out here with with the idea of some sort of settlement. And then I suppose would get released and go play for somewhere else. I don't see any other scenario. I don't know what team really wants him at this stage. I mean, do the Washington Commanders want him now that Terry McLaurin is out? Is that just the perfect marriage of, well, there's opportunity and you certainly need to show that you can be on your best behavior. It is a frustrating situation for Brandon Ayuk. If you told me he never played another down in the NFL, I would not be shocked about that at all. And I think George Kittle's comment said it all earlier this week. His comment was no comment when they asked him about Brandon, are you coming back into the facility? And he said, do you really think that's going to happen? He's like, you should go ask Shanahan and Lynch about that. Don't ask me these questions. I have no comment about it. So yeah, the IU situation is totally weird. And let's not forget too, the 49ers right now, Mike Evans not playing this week. Already being told by all the sources out there that he's not going to play next week either. So Mike Evans' Achilles injury is real. We'll talk about that more with Dr. Chow, too. I know last week we touched on it, but right now Demarcus Robinson is the number one wide receiver for the 49ers, and that cannot last if they have plans on going to a Super Bowl. They just can't have that. They have to have more depth. Maybe Deshaun Stirling comes back by December. Maybe you get some other players get healthy. You saw Christian Kirk go back to the IR. So the wide receiver group of the 49ers right now. It's just a complete and utter mess.
