Hey everyone. Thanks for logging on to my Fox Hurricane.
I'm meteorologist Valerie Mills
as we count down a little over three weeks.
23 days to be exact until the official end
of hurricane season that ends on November 30th.
And that area that we were watching just south of Bermuda,
well, that has fizzled out.
And at this point, we have no areas
of concern across the Atlantic Basin
and really no areas that we're watching
for possible development in the week ahead.
So that is some good news there as things are holding quiet.
There you see that batch of convection that was south of Bermuda.
But as this strong cold front has been coming off the east coast,
there's just this area of very strong wind shear.
That's been really limiting any of that potential development out
of that system in the Atlantic.
Otherwise, we do still have water temperatures
in the low 80s near the Caribbean, parts of the Gulf.
But we are starting to see some
of those water temperatures into the middle and upper 70s.
Remember, 80 degrees plus.
That's what we need for a tropical system.
So at this point, we're watching those water temperatures cool back.
As we look at the tropical frequency,
where these named storms and hurricanes typically form during October,
watch as these zones shrink for November.
So November, much.
Much more limited as where, as where storms typically develop.
We do still watch off the southeast coast down into portions
of the southern Gulf as well as the Caribbean.
But at this point, not going to be watching for anything.
And we'll keep you updated right here on my Fox Hurricane.
