What do the midterm election results mean for America's future, and where do Republicans go from here? Dennis Prager reacts to the election results, the growing appeal of socialism among young voters, and why he believes Americans are overlooking President Trump's accomplishments. He examines how inflation, the Iran conflict, and the administration's messaging around ICE could all have contributed to the loss of voters. Dennis also explains why he believes political setbacks are no excuse for despair.

Hi Dennis. Hello. Well,
if there's anybody who knows how to coach us through not great news,
it's you. So we'd love to get some
of your comments about the midterms. All right. Let
me make clear that I like to think about things
for a few days before commenting publicly.
Nevertheless, I've got stuff to say immediately
and I'll begin with, look at Europe,
look at our fellow democracies.
of the Western world, how what they're burning down
in France, obviously, and in Britain,
and in Belgium, and in Spain, among others.
These people
who do the burning are the equivalent
of the Democratic Party of the United States of America.
The difference is that in order to take
down America, you don't need to burn anything.
You can do it without burning.
What we had in the midterms was our version of burning down America.
It's as simple as that.
We are taking it down as the Democratic Party
is being taken over by avowed Marxists, avowed
socialists, people whose doctrine,
whose charter is to destroy the U.S. as we know it.
Get rid of the U.S. Senate.
Get rid of the Electoral College.
Get rid of the presidency and have everything run by Congress,
which means their power.
They acknowledge, they think capitalism is evil and socialism is good,
which is the opposite
of the truth, but that's what they want to do.
But it can't be done.
Socialism slash communism destroyed more people
in one century than any other doctrine.
In history, what do Americans learn?
They don't learn anything.
That's why young people overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
Because they don't have any knowledge
of what those doctrines have done.
What Donald Trump has accomplished with all his many,
many flaws, which I acknowledge.
And they drive me crazy.
Nevertheless, what he has accomplished,
you know why we have the high inflation rate?
Because the Biden administration in two years
printed more money than America had printed in its history.
But nobody knows that.
Nobody talks about that.
The staggering inflation started
with the Biden administration.
Yes, it also increased during the Trump administration,
but at a much lower level.
When people speak.
About affordability, whether it's eggs or apartments,
that's a pretty big factor.
How about another factor for the affordability
of apartments and houses?
All the illegal immigrants allowed into the country who
then buy up these places and thereby increase their value
because we have much greater demand and much lower supply.
It's a rather simple economic rule.
Trump achieved an incredible good
when he closed the border in like the first week of his administration.
He shut the border.
Remember how for decades the Democrats would say,
oh, we're for border reform, for immigration reform,
but the Republicans won't sit down with us.
It's a complex issue.
How come it wasn't complex?
For, uh, for, uh, Trump, he simply shut the border.
That alone was such a great good for this country.
But people don't vote on that.
How much are the eggs, darling?
That's the ads that I saw on behalf of Democratic politicians.
Oh my God, we, we have to put the bananas back.
Because we can't have bananas and eggs.
We are doing so much better.
than virtually any Western country.
He signed an executive order
that schools that put biological males in sports
will not receive federal funding.
How's that?
The Democratic Party is on record
as overwhelmingly in favor of boys playing girls' sports.
Is that all right with you?
Those of you who vote Democrat,
is the price of bananas more important
than the price of our children?
He set back Iran's nuclear capability,
this notion that, oh, well, we voted Democrat
because we're opposed to the war with Iran.
What war?
We have periodically bombed and closed off their economy.
It's not exactly a war.
There are no boots on the ground.
And in any event,
it's the most dangerous place in the world today, Iran.
We can't allow them to have nuclear weapons.
If they get nuclear weapons,
every single country in the Middle East will then seek
nuclear weapons.
Donald Trump is saving us from a nuclear war.
That's the whole point.
This notion of isolationism is a beautiful
policy translating America first to America
only.
That's not what America first means.
America First is America First. It isn't America only.
We are the most powerful power in the world.
Thank God. Very simple question here.
If we are not to be the greatest power in the world,
who would you like it to be? China? Russia? Iran?
The Islamic world? Who would you like it to be?
There will always be a dominant power. That's the way it works.
If it's not us, it's going to be some really bad people.
The world will suffer.
Those of you who love peace and love
and all good things should be aware of that.
We got rid of Maduro in Venezuela
in a virtually bloodless effort.
This horrible man who, along with Chavez, his predecessor,
made the richest country in South America one of its poorest.
And of course, deprive people of their liberties.
It was a great good what he did to Maduro,
who got so much drugs into the United States,
among other things.
The U.S. dollar remains the world's reserve currency.
And do you know why?
One big reason is because we are the most powerful country.
And another big reason, because we still have a better economy.
than almost any Western nation.
Gas prices in 2022, they were higher than they are today.
But the media didn't harp on it then, because Biden was the president.
Nevertheless,
despite everything I just said,
71% of 18 to 29-year-olds went for the Democrats
in House races, three-quarters of Americans.
They don't know what a danger the Democrats
are because they don't know history, because
they went to an American public school or American university.
Texas turned blue.
It's unbelievable.
That's largely because of the Hispanic vote,
which was so good for Trump.
And now it was lost.
PragerU is starting a Spanish.
Is that correct, Marissa?
In California, it looks
like they voted not to pass
the voter ID bill.
Do we not look silly?
Every democracy of which I am aware has voter ID.
It's unbelievable. You need voter ID to do
anything in the country. What is the big deal?
Tomi Horowitz did a great video.
About two years ago, he went to Harlem,
spoke to blacks on the street.
Do you know how to get a voter ID?
They all cracked up.
It was almost insulting.
They not only knew how,
they told them the address of the Motor Vehicles Bureau.
It's insulting to blacks
that the Democrats say voter ID is racist.
It is.
It's a true, it's truly demeaning of black people.
To say such a thing, you're not bright enough to have an ID.
At least a billionaire tax is on its way to defeat.
Maybe people realize that with a billionaire tax,
all the state achieves is billionaires leaving their state.
Well, just barely.
I mean, Dennis, 44% of Californians voted for the billionaire tax.
So almost half of California voters would have
been okay with the billionaire tax. It's very close.
That's right. Well, I would love to know who the 44% were.
Were they white educated? Were they poor people? I don't know.
I'm just saying I would love to know. But of course, it's close.
We're a divided country.
I'm sorry to say that's a perfect example.
Voter ID is a perfect example.
But I must say, I reserve
the worst development for last.
Abdel El-Sayed won.
He's a senator now.
The man's an evil human being.
He's a combination of the two worst contemporary ideologies,
Islamism and communism.
The man campaigned.
With Hassan Piker, who thought
that America deserved 9-11 after
a Muslim extremist drove
into a synagogue about a year ago, was it?
It was Abdel El-Sayed who said, hurt people, hurt people.
That's right, hurt people.
Poor guy, poor guy.
Because his brother was in.
Hezbollah got killed in Lebanon,
so kill some Jews in America. That's the thinking. He is a
really bad guy. We're going to have some really bad people
in the American Congress now. So the
only question is, well, there are a few,
but the biggest is, will they take over? Will they infect
the Democratic Party,
or will the Democratic Party ultimately expel them?
And it looks like they're infecting the Democratic Party.
The party is not doing anything to expel them.
They give you this hilarious line about the big tent.
No, no, no.
I remember as a kid, the greatest conservative of the generation,
William F. Buckley Jr., how he got rid of the John Birch Society
And how he spoke out about various.
conservatives, anti-Semitism.
He didn't believe in an infinitely big tent.
Anyway, it's a lie.
Big tent.
Does that big tent have pro-life people in it?
I can't wrap my head around
the state of Michigan, middle America,
electing such an anti-American, anti-Western,
Anti-Judeo-Christian values.
Man, so tschüss.
Abdul El-Sayed, let me end with,
it ain't over, folks.
It is not over. First of all,
the party in power, the party with the presidency,
in almost every instance, loses Congress
during the midterms. It's an American tradition.
We'll see about two years from now. It's a long
time. Politically, two years. We'll see what happens.
And you're not allowed to despair.
As I have said for years now,
despair is a sin and you're not allowed to.
It's a moral
and religious obligation to fight.
And I'm fighting and I can't even move my body,
but I'm absolutely in the fight now.
I intend to do as much, almost as much speaking
as I did before my accident exactly two years ago.
You can't despair, but you can't fool yourself.
It was a bad day.
There's a legend that King Solomon asked
his wise men for a magic ring
that would uplift him when he was down
and bring him down to earth if he got too ecstatic.
And they gave him a ring
with three Hebrew words,
Gam zu ya'avor, which in English, this too shall pass.
That's really important.
To remember, it's not over, my friends.
The American spirit lives in hundreds of millions of Americans.
That's another reason not to despair
and to remember that this too shall pass.
There's no guarantee, but that's what often happens.
I'd like to make one other point.
Americans pride themselves in saying,
I don't vote for the party, I vote for the individual.
I always thought that was a foolish idea.
What does it mean you don't vote for the party?
Parties don't have ideas.
That's what you're saying is, I don't vote by ideology.
I don't vote by ideas.
I don't vote by values.
I vote by personality.
I know of a young woman
who was Ivy League educated.
Who was conservative and religious,
and she voted for Mamdani.
And when asked why, she said he was the most dynamic of the candidates.
That's what does it.
So everybody's looking for the charming candidate.
I don't care if a candidate is charming.
For the values that I care about, the Republican Party is much closer,
to the Democratic Party, it's as simple as that.
Dennis, I'd love to.
Unpack a little bit your first segment
of your reaction to the midterms. You focused a lot on
President Trump's accomplishments.
Do you think that what happened in the midterms is actually
a reflection and a reaction to President Trump's popularity
and actions? Yeah, for whatever reason,
he has a very low approval rating
and it didn't help the cryptocurrency.
I don't know all the details, but I know enough
to know that when your father
is president of the United States,
you don't look like Biden's kids did.
Biden's kid. But it's more than that.
Every high in life is followed by a low.
Americans had put Superman status
on Donald Trump.
And by the way, he put Superman status on himself.
So, you know, nobody to blame for it.
When Superman doesn't produce
every week something great again,
then people get disappointed and his approval rating went down.
If he had retained his popularity,
the results would have been different.
There's a lot of chatter amongst conservatives
that if President Trump would have handled the Iran war differently,
and I know that you say this is barely a war, but it's still obviously
a conflict that has cost Americans a lot of money.
And so many have said that, yes, we are.
Fighting evil outside of the United States, possibly against Iran.
But ultimately, that came at the expense
of now having evil in our own government.
And so we're trying to fight evil in Iran.
And now we have essentially voted in communism.
Should the president have focused more on America
and what is happening internally,
would we be in a different situation right
now where we wouldn't have communists in our
own government?
Did the Iran war bring
on this recent midterm blue tsunami that we've seen?
It definitely contributed. What was necessary
was to do what Marco Rubio did and make the American
case, which he did over and over incredibly
articulately, unlike J.D. Vance, who never
I've never defended the bombing of this horrible regime.
Isn't it obvious if you don't stop tyranny
that seeks hegemony in the beginning,
you will pay a much greater price later on.
But people like to buy now, pay later.
I don't mind that with regard to Amazon,
but I do mind it with regard to good and evil.
Somebody had to do this,
and he was incredibly courageous in pursuing it.
You can watch on YouTube 30 years ago,
40 years ago, I believe you can go that far back,
Donald Trump was saying to those interviewing him,
we cannot let Iran have nuclear weapons.
He has been clear on that issue
and the Democrats, as usual,
as I've said all of my life,
the left doesn't fight evil. It fights those who fight evil.
If you look at the results from the midterms,
you see that many of the people who voted for President Trump
in the past essentially voted against him now in the midterms.
And so whether they didn't know how serious President Trump would have
been about Iran and pursuing a war there and they were disappointed
or they feel deserted, you brought up the Hispanic community.
I mean the Hispanic community.
Really walked away from President Trump in this past midterm.
And you can see this, especially in Texas.
I don't know if it's about the Iran war or if it's about affordability,
which you talked about,
but I certainly think a big piece of it
is the way the ICE messaging came across.
That's right.
I think, you know, they came out with, which it was so scary.
If you're Hispanic, and I have
many close friends, Hispanics who are here legally,
and they were terrified of what was going on.
They're not consumed with the Iran war.
They are consumed with what's going
to happen with their family members.
And frankly, and really honestly,
they feel deserted because for a very long time, they
voted Democrat for their entire lives.
They voted Democrat.
They took a chance on President Trump
and they voted Republican because they believe
that that he would do the right thing
and he would listen to them and he would continue
to message to them.
And for some bizarre reason.
After he got elected, you know,
the administration had to do what it had to do with deportation.
And first it started with we're deporting the bad guys,
we're deporting the criminals.
And then somehow the media messaging just, it just got lost.
It got lost and it remained in the status of fear.
And I think they thought
that if they stopped talking about it, it's just going to go away.
And it never went away.
The Hispanic community felt deserted.
And I totally understand why.
And, you know, I think it was a colossal mistake.
And it was a bigger mistake, the messaging around ICE,
than the messaging around the
Iran war.
And it's surprising to me that people
are not talking about it, given how significant
the Hispanic vote is for America.
That's right.
I can't add to your excellent words much.
That was...
For Hispanics, Iran played no role, or a minimal role.
ICE played a huge role.
And I know, as well, Hispanics who feared for themselves
or loved ones, even if they were here legally.
We talked about the Hispanic vote.
You mentioned Europe.
You can't talk about Europe without thinking about
the Islamic vote and Abdul El-Sayed.
Can you talk about...
With the Islamic vote, they came out in droves.
There are, I don't know
if everybody listening knows what boilerplate is.
It's the repeated stuff in a contract that lawyers put in.
It just fills up.
It's a necessary evil.
So let me begin with boilerplate.
There are some wonderful Muslims, okay?
And I mean that sincerely.
And Zuhdi Jasser.
...in Arizona is one of the finest Americans
and humans that I know, and he's
a devout Muslim guy, but putting that aside,
the Islamic world at this time in history
is largely influenced by Islamicism
or Islamism, not just the Quran or the Hadith,
but by the hegemonic reading,
which is by belief.
Authentic Islam. They want to take over where they live.
They want to take over Europe. They
have a fighting chance, by the way, certainly in the UK.
And they would like to do that in
the United States.
And the left is helping them.
It's a very, very unprecedented, scary thing.
These people are true believers.
And true believers cannot be.
dissuaded from their opinions.
So we've got a big issue on our hands.
And then my biggest comment from the elections
is that many conservative Christians simply did
not vote. Well, my Christian friends have
been telling me all of my life that so many Christians
just don't vote. I would love to interview five of them.
I may do that one day.
I would like to know, why don't you?
Do you think God will set everything right?
I don't get it.
How can you not at least vote for good over bad?
But if every evangelical voted,
the results would be quite different.
Yeah. Well, one of the ways to not feel despair
is to spend time with kindred spirits. So for
those of you who are listening,
who want to be with us on November 14th, we have a gala
in Los Angeles. You can go onto the PragerU website
and find out more about it.
And the most exciting thing is on December 6th,
we're having a gala on the East Coast
and God willing, Dennis, you will be there.
Uh, I, uh.
It's gonna be in Mar-a-Lago
for those who want to participate.
Again, you can go on the PragerU website
and find out the location.
And there'll be Dennis Prager and many others
who are gonna be at this event.
And so you'll be with kindred spirits
who will continue to fight no matter what
for our great country.
We will not despair.
Any thoughts on what you're planning on talking about
at the gala, by the way?
Oh, so much will have happened by then.
I have no idea.
I try to make my comments as relevant
as possible and as timeless as possible.
That's my aim.
But I'll keep you abreast.
Yeah, well, the theme is saving Western civilization
and our great country first.
And so hopefully many other people would want to join in.
Thank you, Dennis, per usual,
for all your wisdom and your encouragement.
We'll keep fighting.
And for those of you who are part of the Prager United membership,
we'll keep taking in questions.
I promise I'm going to read them to you in future segments.
Meanwhile, God bless you all.
And thank you, Dennis.
Bye, everybody.
Thank you.
