This is officially the last full vlog day that we got to spend with our beautiful Siberian Husky Kira. Before everything changed we had a busy day planned. We started off the morning waiting for Dan to arrive from his flight which got super delayed thanks to some crazy dense fog over Detroit and Alpena. But once he finally made it we immediately had to pivot our plans when Kira suddenly collapsed in the car. We rushed her right to the vet to figure out what was going on with her back legs. Dr. Ryan is absolutely the best and gave up his lunch hour just to check her over and give her some soothing laser therapy for her back pain.
Even with the scare it turned out to be a really special day. We gave Kira lots of love and started her on some new joint medicine while keeping her rested. Later that evening Jamie and I headed out with Dan and Greg to the Second Chance dinner and live auction to support the local animal shelter. We actually donated an awesome senior pet package including a dog stroller and an orthopedic dog bed to help raise money for the rescues. We had a ton of fun bidding and hanging out with friends and eating way too many cupcakes.
Looking back now we cherish every single second of this day. We share our lives so publicly with you all because we want to document the highs and the lows of husky care and life with dogs. I am so glad we captured Kira smiling and feeling better after her appointment. Thank you all for always being so supportive of our journey. Life is short, Make memories with your dogs!

So this officially was the last full vlog day that Kira was a part of.
This is the day that
Dan arrived and you guys are going to get to see
a little bit of that plus a little bit of the
dinner and auction that we went to on this day.
I took her to the vet at 11 and that was when she
kind of fell in the car and then I took her back to the vet at 1
and then she seemed fine.
We checked the cameras while we were gone.
And she did okay that day, but this,
this is the last vlog you will see Kira in.
So we're gonna go ahead and roll into that right now.
Good, wonderful, beautiful...
You guys feel like you're going back in time?
Because you probably already saw the Halloween extravaganza.
But now you're gonna get to see what happened before
the Halloween extravaganza.
It's kind of what's going on from here on out.
I didn't want to leave the Halloween stuff going up
so far past Halloween.
So we thought we'd at least give you that.
And then now you'll get some more vlogs.
And what's happening now?
Well, it was foggy this morning.
The fog has risen.
Dan is on his way up here right now.
His plane's in the sky.
It got delayed in Detroit because of fog.
He's probably got a picture he can put in here
and show you how crazy the fog was.
I know, I know.
I'm gonna go get him and bring him back here.
And then you and I have to go to laser therapy.
Sound good?
And then we have a dinner to go to tonight,
but you're not going to that.
Okay, I'm off.
To go pick up the Dan.
And even though you already saw all
these beautiful things carved and done,
we did collect pumpkins.
You guys saw we got those from Neato's.
These pretty much all ended up coming from Meijer and Aldi.
They were less than five dollars,
and a lot of the farmers were charging seven and eight this year,
so we kind of got lucky.
Right here we have 101.
If you want to see the Halloween stuff, if you missed it...
Up in the cards, down in the video
description below. Okay, let's go get Dan.
Dan actually took a red-eye flight from LA to Detroit into Alpena,
which we got a really cheap flight into Alpena,
which is nice because Alpena is really hard to
fly into for a good price, but dense fog in Detroit.
Dense fog here delayed everything.
He's going to be tired and we do have
the second chance gala dinner and auction tonight,
which don't worry, we'll take you guys along to that as well.
But yeah, I'm going to go get him
and I have a feeling he's going to take a nap for a little
while.
At least that's what I would do.
But this is the fog. It's a lot more visible in the camera,
but you can see it way out in the distance.
So this is the fog that...
It was denser this morning. I didn't get a good picture.
But like I said, I think Dan did. It was far denser this morning.
So I was worried that it wasn't gonna land
because this is not supposed to lift until noon. So, yay fog!
I guess it's better than snow and ice for landing, but I don't know.
I know.
They didn't even make it in the door.
They're like, oh my gosh, we've seen you so many times.
Look at Kira's face.
The perfect smile.
She's like, I'm so happy. I know you.
Eleanor's like, let me push her out of the way.
Hi, Dan.
You're here.
And look, it's not foggy.
It is not. It was foggy up in the sky.
That's what I was telling them.
Not down here apparently.
Alright, can we come in the house please?
Thanks.
What are you doing?
I just let you outside so you can get all this out outside.
What are you doing, you psycho?
What are you doing?
Look out, marbles.
You just almost went through the window.
You don't even know where you're going at this.
Where are you going?
Where's your marbles?
Where's your marbles?
Where's your marbles?
Where's your marbles?
Are you that happy?
Okay, can we chill now?
You're crazy, you're crazy.
We have a couple days left to get your Memphis plushie.
I'm
You know, I'm tired of coming to this place with you.
starting
I'm tired of coming to this place in general.
So we were here earlier for laser,
but when Kira got in the car with Dan and I,
she kind of, like her back end kind of was,
I don't want to say she collapsed,
I don't want to say she fell,
to
but like her leg didn't want to be a leg anymore.
speak.
She was just like boop and went down.
She got back up. I had to help her up,
but once she got up, she walked around like fine,
and then when Dan and I got her here,
we got her out of the car, and she trotted around like
nothing. So we're in for a recheck on her back issue,
and we're going to see if they can figure
out what's going on back there, because she's had
a little bit of issue. She still doesn't
really want to go for her walks and walk at the right pace,
so could still be her back.
But we're here. We're getting it figured out.
Probably gonna do an x-ray today. I don't think
we're gonna... I think that that's the next thing,
but I'll fill you guys in when I get back home.
I know this is not what I wanted to do today.
We have lots of other stuff to do today.
Okay, we're back from the vet.
I feel like I've been there too many days this week. Also,
we do have more color happening, except for this tree.
Hi Miss Kira. So...
Let me give you a little tiny bit of
a backstory on what's been happening.
We've been noticing that Kira's back legs
are having a little bit of issue.
Like, I don't necessarily want to call it weakness,
but I guess that's how you would describe it.
Like, not all the time, once in a while,
when she goes from lay down to sit up,
you can tell it's a little bit of a struggle, things like that.
As you guys know, unless you're new here,
I know the neighbor's doing a fire and it's smoky.
We can go inside in a second here. Come on,
let's go back here so it's not blowing right at us.
So yeah, I know. So as you guys know,
like a couple of weeks ago, she hurt her back. We went
to the vet, we did camp in,
then she got sick to her stomach and then we went to Novi and then we
had her, I had her back checks right before we went to Novi
and things were looking better. So
this started from the day I'm filming this,
like five days ago, she started showing a little bit
of weird issues in her back leg.
She doesn't really want to go for walks, anything like that.
So I ended up
Talking back and forth with my vet.
Had a couple of videos.
And actually, we can insert the video while I'm talking here.
Where you can kind of see the hitch
in her step that we are talking about.
So...
I'm sure you guys could clearly see it.
So I started to panic and think that it was like
her knee or her hawk or again all the issues Memphis had.
So I probably overthought it all. So
thankfully my vet gave up his lunch hour today,
which I'm telling you guys my vets are literally
the best. Dr. Ryan gave up his lunch hour today
so that he could see Kira real quick.
And conclusion, it's still her back. Which,
Is both bad and good. It's good because it's not anything.
It's still not anything major.
It's just this one little spot on her back that she's having the pain
and the issue with. We don't need to do an x-ray. We thought about it,
but he kind of told us like there's no real reason to need to do one.
He's certain that it's just this spot in her back.
We're not going to do chiropractic because the
Type of injury this is.
They say you're not supposed to do that while they're injured.
So no chiropractic.
And then, am I going to remember everything that I was supposed to say?
No acupuncture. We're going to continue doing the laser,
which does actually seem to be helping her.
So she got that done today. And it's like
when she gets back from laser, she seems to feel pretty dang good.
So I'm sure it's helping her some way.
Did you find something good? Is there a toad under there?
She's on medicine for...
Four weeks, some anti-inflammatories,
and I've put her on the Slide HA+, which Memphis was on,
and a couple of other things just to kind
of help strengthen her muscles and strengthen her joints
and all that stuff. And then she's supposed to be restricted.
We can't go for walks,
no running, no jumping.
She's allowed to do this, kind of wander, but I can't let her take
off after a squirrel, so I'll probably
be outside with her when I let her out.
Might leash her, depends.
She hasn't really been wanting to run after the squirrels or anything.
So, really long story short, when it comes to Kira,
she still is having an issue with her back.
When he pushed on it today, compared to the last time,
she cried more today than she did the last time.
So, he just thinks that, you know, she just needs...
What are we doing back here?
Come on! I know dad cleaned up all the stuff
and now there's new smells.
She just needs more time to heal.
So, we're on the right path. I need to stop overthinking it.
My vets are amazing.
Dr. Ryan, thank you so much for giving up
your lunch today for Miss Kira.
I appreciate that more than you will ever know.
And now, we're getting ready to go
to the Second Chance dinner and auction.
Dan's here. Greg's coming with us. It should be fun.
Don't worry. We'll bring you guys along.
and thanks to everybody for the advice
and the comments and everything about Kira
i really really appreciate it
and i know some of you are like oh there's always something
wrong with your dogs the thing is we share
our lives very publicly online and i share
all of it so when something's wrong i'm pretty much gonna tell you guys
That's, that's why you think there's always something wrong with her.
There's, there's not, there's not always something,
no, there's not always something wrong with you.
Okay, I gotta go get ready to go do dinner
and things. We love you, Kira.
Oh, we made it, by the way. Look at, it's empty right now.
We're a little early.
We are, we're just a little early. I got my lucky number.
Oh, okay.
Actually, I have a lucky number. Yeah, I have mine as well.
Greg has a lucky number as well. So, we're all gonna get lucky.
Yeah.
All of us. We'll bid together, you and I. We'll bid together.
But, look it. We did a whole little auction for...
Look it, I did even the calendar and the coloring book.
Like a senior pet package is what we called it.
So, you get the steps, the stroller and the orthopedic dog bed.
That kennel we did too.
Oh yeah, that too.
I have another one of those in my garage. I'm just saying.
I'll be sitting here with you if we can buy one of those 5X shirts.
And a giant Snuggie.
Thank you.
It's starting to fill up. Mom just got here. Everybody's here.
Yeah.
It's gonna be a fun night. We're gonna make some money for the shelter.
So much fun stuff. Oh my gosh, that sign is amazing.
Oh, there's so much cool stuff. Getting a little bit more full.
Getting ready to do some dinner.
Good morning!
I still love this stroller. We did the full review on this.
I hope somebody that can really use this gets it
because I almost kept it.
Well, maybe I should have kept it for Kira.
No, I'm just kidding. I have another one similar to that.
But here we are at the event. My mom just got here.
It's like I got two more people showing up at my table.
I got 11 minutes.
There we are.
All right, we're going to eat
while they're bidding off some more tables.
I'm on solo.
We gotta thank Nick. We get to eat first.
Number three.
Look at all this food.
He's so good.
Now we're eating cupcakes. Look at this cupcake.
How did I do it?
We're all here.
Having dinner. Getting ready for the live auction.
There's so many people here. This is pretty amazing.
You ready?
He got about $15,000 in for once,
for twice, and we say, yeah boy, $15,000.
That was fun. And of course it figures after we got back
from the event we had so much fun at,
I did not say good night. We didn't even properly end the video.
We got home. Some friends came over.
Kira did good. She slept on the couch here
for a while. We had friends over.
It's all over.
It was weird because it was the next day
when it really all started to fall apart like this was
the day where she fell
and we weren't calling it passing out we weren't calling it fainting
because she really just kind of tipped over
and fell it was a little strange and then the
next day is when everything fell apart.
I do have a beginning of a vlog for the next vlog
So I'm going to give you guys that in the next video
and then I will explain.
What happened to Kira in that video as well.
You've probably already seen it over at Gone to the Snow Dogs,
but I'll explain it again because, like I said,
if it helps one person by me telling this story,
then it's worth it to tell it every single time.
And not that there would be a whole lot you could
do in a situation like ours, but we'll try. We'll try.
Alright you guys, I don't want to say it. I do hope you enjoyed
this video because it was her last one that you guys got to see her in.
Um, it's not the last clips I have of her, but it's the last vlogs.
Jamie took a clip of her the day we left
to take her to the emergency vet.
But, yeah.
Anyway, stay positive.
Dream big.
We miss you, Kira.
I know, you're lonely.
Eleanor is doing okay.
We're trying to make every day fun.
Yeah, we're trying.
Alright, you guys.
Good night, audience.
