Well, Javits Frimpong was shot and killed one week ago today,
about a block away from where he lived with his father.
Though his parents were too distraught to attend tonight's vigil,
we're told his mother is now here in New York
from Ghana to mourn the loss of her only son.
Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs releasing
this video of Javits Frimpong's mother heading
to the airport on an emergency visa to be with her son.
I want justice for my son. That's all.
We want justice, we want...
That fight continues tonight,
thousands of miles away in the Bronx, where a grieving
community gathers again to honor the 15-year-old boy
who died one week ago.
Javis, you ran for your life.
Run, run, run with God. Just keep running.
until we get it right.
Surveillance video shows the teen being chased after police say he was
shot in the stomach on East 171st Street near Kratona Place,
just one block from Kratona Park.
His father previously said his son was on his way
to school where he was being bullied,
and he says he believes bullying played
a role in the shooting. The teen's teacher,
among those speaking out tonight.
Through his ninth grade year, I got to hear his laugh,
I see his smile, experience his presence, his light.
He was a sweet boy, smart, very respectful, never bothered anyone.
Police say so far no arrests have been made.
They're still searching for three suspects.
Javis, run, run, run, run.
Right now it's still unclear if those three suspects
are also connected to the alleged bullying.
If you have any information, you're asked to call police.
We're in the Claremont section of the Bronx tonight.
