NYC weather: Heavy rain and storms heading our way

Yeah, you know, I mean, it's gray outside, but it's also very warm at the same time, so at least our temperatures are still well above normal. But, yes, we have the gray sky and some showers we're going to have to contend with. It's coming out of Pennsylvania along the cold front, and it's going to be pressing into the tri-state. So far, the metro areas, you've been fine. Some clouds and maybe a few sprinkles over North Jersey and some light showers up around Sussex and Orange County, but the rest of us, it's not that big of a deal yet. 66 out at Central Park right now, 62 degrees and a nice slip. We get through the morning commute without having any major rain issues out there. But later in the day, there will be a little more significant rain, but certainly rain we can handle. Winds are coming in from the south now at around 5 to 10 miles per hour. The localized Futurecast does bring our first round of showers through North Jersey and into the metro areas by around 10 to 11 o'clock this morning. So that means that the rain risk is definitely going up at that point in time. Now, that does not include everyone here in the tri-state. It's mainly North Jersey into the lower Hudson Valley, kind of clipping the city for us here as well in there. Then heading over to Connecticut. Then it becomes cloudy with some scattered showers for the rest of the afternoon for you today. Tomorrow, the cold front is closer. In fact, basically on top of us. So we'll have a heavier focus of showers and storms over the tri-state region, especially in the central and eastern sections of Long Island. Area of low pressure coming through right around the middle of the day. So that means the middle of the day could be quite. Wet at that time, possibly some thundershowers at that time, too, which goes into Friday night into perhaps Saturday morning as well. So that's our wettest stretch coming through today. It's just kind of scattered lighter stuff. Tomorrow is the heavier showers and thundershowers high temp today, 72. And then our low tonight drops down to 62. That's when the heavier showers start to push in and it'll be kind of scattered through the day tomorrow. And then it gets lighter again for you Saturday as your temps start coming down.
