Good morning. Welcome to your Thursday. I'm meteorologist Cody Metz.
We'll look at that forecast and check out some
of the rainfall totals since Monday. Your backyard totals will vary,
but it's impressive considering it's November.
An inch and a half to close to two inches across a lot of the east
and parts of the north metro and a lot of the southwest and west metro.
Two plusers. In fact, over two and a half inches in parts
of Scott County. So impressive numbers. Officially 1.9 in MSP Airport.
But look at parts of northern Minnesota,
widespread amounts of three and four plus inches
from the Brainerd Lakes area eastward towards Hibbing,
Ely and Grand Marais is some significant drought improvement expected
to cross a lot of northern and central Minnesota
with two plusers from St. Cloud southward towards Faribault.
Some really solid numbers. It has been dreary.
It has obviously been wet. We're finally going to pull that back a bit
as our area low pressure kicks off to the east. A lot of cloud cover,
though, rolling in from sections of southern Canada.
So that is going to be the main theme through the day on Thursday.
Waking up to a little bit of mist, still certainly a damp ground.
We're drying up the atmosphere.
The cloud cover going to be pretty present through the afternoon.
Maybe a couple holes in the clouds in northern
and western Minnesota, but good luck finding it.
Now, eventually, we'll kick out the cloud cover.
Exactly how quickly this happens, I remain unconvinced.
As this kind of a pattern is tough to get rid of cloud cover.
Futurecast sees a clearer start as we get into Friday morning.
If we can kick out the clouds, we may
actually get our first freeze in the metro,
although I think we're going to be short of that.
Either way, if you want to salvage the annuals a little
while longer, cover things up.
We'll see at least partly cloudy conditions on Friday.
There will probably be some batches of clouds around.
And then should be clearer as we get into Friday night and Saturday
as we'll see some sunshine and chilly start Saturday.
But starting to see a warming trend courtesy of Southwest flow Saturday
afternoon for Thursday, though, cloud cover is going to be around.
Admittedly, a couple holes in the clouds, maybe,
but good luck finding widespread 40s for afternoon temperatures
will actually slide to a 46 here in the metro. There will
be some 20s across northern Minnesota where we managed to clear.
There will admittedly be some warmer temperatures than what's on here.
If the cloud cover can linger longer,
which it probably will in some spots,
but good luck exactly figuring out where that's going to be.
for your Friday, though, should at least get some sunshine in here.
Temperatures, though, low to middle 40s.
Check out that 7-day forecast.
We've warmed from there back above average on Saturday in the low 50s.
The sunshine returns as well, and it's going to be pretty abundant
through the weekend into early next week, a 61 as we peak on Monday.
