The community came together to honor the 15-year-old
who was shot and killed while walking to school.
Good Day's Kendall Green takes us to the vigil
in the Bronx where the community is remembering that teenager
while asking the suspect to turn himself in.
My name is Javits, and your name is Javits.
Threaded by prayer, music, and unthinkable grief,
Bronx residents stood together for a prayer vigil
for 15-year-old Javits Frimpong.
More candles, balloons, and pictures than you can count
were laid out by loved ones near
the same place the 10th grader was gunned down
while walking to school Thursday morning.
On election night, they put the politics aside
to pray for the teen's grieving family.
The families of those who did this, they are going to be in.
Frimpong's father in recent days shared
his son had just moved from Ghana
and became a victim of bullying by his classmates.
While the search continues for his killers by police,
those in the community make their pleas personal.
Turn yourself in.
New York Attorney General Tish James broke away from election night.
To stand with those carrying the weight following the teen's death.
Making a similar plea for a crucial step toward justice.
Perhaps it's bullying.
It's mistaken identity.
Perhaps it's a robbery gone wrong.
Whatever it is, I urge you to surrender.
Kendall Green, Good Day, New York.
