Russell Brand found guilty of rape, sexual assault

Turn our attention now to something that's going on overseas, because we just got word just a little while ago that comedian and actor Russell Brand was found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault in London. Ryan, Christopher, you and I were standing right next to each other in the newsroom when that came across the wire. Yes, sir. What do we know? What do we know about this? Well, so far, Russell Brand is currently behind bars. This is all stemming from allegations from a documentary in 2023. But the charges are linked from 1999 all the way to 2009, Dan. Again, Russell Brand currently behind bars after he was found guilty. Now, soon we're going to learn what the actual sentence will be in terms of his time behind bars. It does face upwards of a maximum of life in prison. The judge said that likely will. He will not be the case, but he will get substantial time behind bars. But again, the judge is going to drop that a little bit later. And there are some key dates coming up for that as well. But he's 51 years old, one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. So the allegations date back again, as I said, to 1999 all the way to 2009 when Brand, he was a rising comedian, TV host. And this is coming from multiple women across. Multiple years in Hollywood, and even before this documentary on allegations, there was a lot of talk about this type of behavior from Mr. Brand. Yeah, and I mean, like you mentioned, this is dating back several years. I mean, 1999 is some of the earliest allegations and sort of stretches through 2009. He's denied everything. Yes. His defense argued the women's accounts were influenced by that documentary, a 2023 documentary. But again, the news that we got this morning, This morning, Russell Brand found guilty of... rape and three counts of sexual assault in London. The verdicts cover those allegations involving four women and incidents dating from 2004 to 2009. He was actually acquitted on two other rape charges and attempted indecent assault. And he also testified in this case as well. He spoke during the court. He talked to the judge back and forth. And again, in the UK courts, Dan, it's up to the judge in terms of how much time he's actually going to end up spending Behind bars, but right now, after this guilty verdict, he's currently in jail. So he's in custody right now. He is. And he's not going to be released as of right now. He's not going to be released. Okay, so this is something we've got to watch. We don't know when a sentencing or anything along those lines is going to happen. Very soon. I believe early next week. And, of course, this is catching headlines because he used to be married to Katy Perry in the past. I mean, this is a guy who, at the height of his career, he was in a lot of comedies. He was.
