LIVE ELECTION UPDATES: Blue wave propels Democrats to power nationwide and in New Jersey

Reaction coming in with Governor Cheryl celebrating the Democratic win, saying New Jersey is proud to do our part, flipping two House seats, sending Rebecca Bennett and Zach Mollick to fight for working people in Congress. Let's go now to Bridgewater. This was the scene last night as Rebecca Bennett celebrated that victory over Tom Kane Jr. The 39-year-old says she's ready to serve and make changes. Tonight is about something bigger than any one of us. It's about all of us coming together to demand change and to leave this country better off than we found it. For more on Bennett's win, let's go live to Somerville. That's where we find News 12's Lauren Dew. And Lauren, this result not nearly as close as expected. No, then a district that's often a toss up, often very close. This was a big win for Rebecca Bennett. You have a political A political newcomer upsetting a political dynasty of time. I'm Kayne Jr., who held this seat for two years, and his dad, who was a former governor. Rebecca Bennett, in her acceptance speech and her victory speech, she does acknowledge that accomplishment. She is a first-time candidate here. And let me tell you about her. She will represent the 7th Congressional District here in New Jersey. She describes herself as a former Navy helicopter pilot, officer in the National Guard. Business leader in health care and mom of two, her campaign was about families and lowering the cost of living. Here's some more of her victory speech from last night. Let's be clear. It is not an accident that we find ourselves in this position. All of these costs have risen because we have an administration in Washington that is the most corrupt we have ever seen in the history of this country. And instead of working to make our lives better, they put special interests first and profit while we pay the price. But now you've spoken loud and clear. It's time for change. Let's take on the rampant corruption in Washington and start putting families first. And at the end of her speech, she said, let's get to work. Governor Sherrill says that she is ready to work with Rebecca Bennett. So we are out here in Somerville this morning. This is in District 7. So we'll talk to people as they're walking around to see how they are feeling this morning. We're in Somerville, Lauren Dew, News 12, New Jersey.
