Rep. McClintock responds to election results

The other thing Joel said that requires special emphasis is this is the first hour. of the 2028 campaign. That's the first hour of a road back. We've got a wake-up call tonight, nationally, that Republicans need to return to our constitutional roots. We've got to get our, you know, back on our constitutional rails. And that message is loudly received tonight, and I think will be in the heart of the Republican ... positions as we go forward into the 120th Congress. When Ronald Reagan took office in 1980, we were facing the same kind of terrible economy created by the same kind of terrible policies. For Trump, it was Joe Biden. For Reagan, it was Jimmy Carter. And for those of you who remember those days, remember how very difficult they were. Ronald Reagan instituted some of the largest tax cuts and regulatory reform in our history. And then he told us, it's going to take time to repair this economic damage. Please stay the course. Well, we lost 26 seats in the midterm election, but we stayed the course. And two years later, we saw one of the greatest Republican landslides in all of history. And I think that we could well see the same pattern emerge over these next two years. So as we begin the 2028 campaign, we should do so with full hearts and with great confidence that the question of freedom and socialism can only go one way, and that's toward the forces of freedom. So thank you all very much for everything you're doing. Let's get back on the campaign trail tomorrow and set things right. Let's do it.
