Riding a massive national blue wave,
Ned Lamont has done what no other governor
since colonial times has done, win a rare third term.
In his victory speech, Lamont pledged
to be a firewall against the Trump administration.
But afterwards, he told me that's not enough.
Talk about how we're trying to protect people every day
from what's happening in Washington.
But you just can't sit around blaming Washington.
You've got to say,
this is what we're doing here in the state of Connecticut.
Lamont defeated Republican Ryan Fazio, who is half his age
and could very well run for governor again in 2030.
We love this state. We believe it can do better.
And we're going to continue to advocate for it and fight for it.
Well, with the election now behind him,
Governor Lamont plans to lay out more of his agenda later this morning.
And he'll have even more help in the General Assembly.
Democrats looking to expand their supermajority there.
That's the latest here in Hartford.
