San Francisco voters are also being asked
to name five of the 11 members of the Board
of Supervisors, and that includes District 8.
That is a race that saw its leading candidate,
Manny Yakutiel, drop out last month over allegations
of sexual assault.
Of the remaining candidates, take a look at your screen.
You can see Gary McCoy is leading with 51% of the vote,
Darshina Patel, 26%, and then
Emmanuel Yakutiel.
13% with Michael Nguyen at 11.
KTVU's Christian Captain live in the city tonight
with more on this changing political landscape.
Thank you very much.
Yeah, as you said, Claudine, a lot of the seats
on San Francisco's Board of Supervisors up for grabs.
We will have a lot of those details now, but we are now starting
to get a sense of what that new board may look like.
We're actually here.
At the watch party for the District 8 Supervisor
candidate Gary McCoy here in the Castro District,
the crowd here very pleased with the first results to come out tonight.
The latest rounds of results you'd said show him
with just over 50.5% of the vote.
He spoke with supporters and he
also talked with us about what his day one priorities are.
Yeah, I mean, priorities will be, you know,
exactly what I've campaigned on, and that's having neighborhood safety,
having safer streets and sidewalks, having improved public transit,
hoping, I haven't looked at the results for Prop H and the regional
transit measure, but hopefully they're going well tonight,
and then also working on our small businesses, merchant corridors,
making sure we're not just filling vacant storefronts
and starting new businesses, but supporting our long-time businesses
that have been in business for years and sometimes decades.
We're also tracking results for the race in the Bayview District,
the southeast portion of the city,
where Theo Ellington is showing a strong lead
with 49.8% of the vote at this point.
The incumbents in the Sunset, Marina,
and South of Market all have strong leads at this point as well.
The elections director said staff will be working
on ballots around the clock for the next three days
to finalize the count as quickly as possible.
Hoping to really be done by this weekend,
so instead of this idea that's a long wait for results,
we want to get the results out really within four to five days.
And coming back to our live look here,
San Francisco voters also waiting for results on measures backed
by Mayor Daniel Lurie aimed at reforming City Hall.
They would make getting issues on the ballot more challenging,
expand the duties of the city administrator,
and streamline the hiring and firing process for department heads.
D, E, and F, those are all showing strong signs of support
at this time, as well as funding measures for public transit
and whether to return the Sunset Dunes Park into a road.
A lot of major issues here in San Francisco.
Claudine, I can tell you it was a very...
Lengthy ballot, a lot of issues for San Franciscans to decide,
not just the state measures,
but a lot of local measures that they had to all work through.
There was some sense that there could be some voter fatigue
for some of those lower items there on the list.
So we will have to just wait and see how those results turn out.
Yeah, certainly important issues
for this board of supervisors to consider.
Christian Kaffner reporting live tonight. Thank you, Christian.
