Yeah, that's right.
Incumbent Democrat Ed Markey is set
to join Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll
and Governor Maura Healey here in Boston's Back Bay
as those ballots roll in tonight.
Markey, an 80-year-old Malden native, is seeking
his third term to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate.
He is among the longest-serving members of Congress,
and he's been a huge proponent of Medicare
for All and the Green New Deal.
Markey's age has been a sticking point for voters wondering
if the incumbent still has fuel to serve another six-year term.
Well, Markey has said multiple times throughout his campaign.
campaign that if he was reelected for another term,
that it would be his last.
He beat Representative Seth Moulton in the primaries,
and now he faces Republican nominee
John Deaton, a 59-year-old Marine veteran and attorney from Bolton.
There are also two other candidates on the ballot,
independent Shiva Ayyadurai, an entrepreneur
and engineer, making his third run for the Senate seat.
and Socialist, Joe Taché, who is a youth worker based in Boston,
but is from Philadelphia.
Now again, it's not just Markey
who's going to be here at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.
Governor Moore Healey will also be joining him.
She is up against Republican Mike Minogue.
He's hosting a party over in Burlington.
