Hey guys, we have this little old lady,
actually a cancer patient, who ain't got no heat.
At least that's what we were told.
Come with me.
Was that a come on in?
Yes.
Okay, what's going on?
Okay, my furnace is running, it's running.
It's been running since around four o'clock yesterday evening.
Yes, ma'am.
You can hear it run?
Yes, ma'am.
The blow will not come on.
Um.
Are you you're trying to get some heat right?
Sure. All right let's turn the fan off. Which way
is heat and which way is cool?
I see an E right there I think. Come here I'm gonna show you
something. Okay you see
this switch right here? Yes. That's
for the fan and if you turn it on it's
going to be the fan and it'll run 24 7.
You need to leave that on auto and it'll only come on when
Heater cool is on. I think is heat this way? Yes.
I can't read it anymore. Okay let's check it out.
I'm just going
to do a do a few little
checks here make sure
this flue pipe
that happened.
I completely understand.
I'm gonna right now it
is not safe.
I'm gonna do what I can to
make it safe
for you okay.
What is all
of that? That's
my flue pipe
and it is full.
Yes there
you go.
okay this is a this is not the proper three to four reducer
but that is a four to three reducer
so this is number four
that's what i need
so i need a three to four
reducer and we're just
gonna redo the whole thing let's see
one elbow i am not sure i'm gonna
be able to get another piece
of double wall up into that i'm gonna do it with
single wall pipe so three to four reducer one
One stick of four inch and an elbow.
I'm going to...
Go pick up some supplies and hurry back okay.
The proper type of reducer to get.
This fits down over the fitting on those rude furnaces perfectly
and then you crimp the top
kind of like this and everything fits together.
But that is a four to three reducer. We're
actually going
from three to four.
Getting ready for a flue pipe
and I need a crimper.
This is one and this is one. They basically do the same thing.
I think I'm going to use this one.
This is what a crimper does.
It makes a crimp in the middle
so it makes it easier to shove this end into a four-inch pipe.
And you see this little piece right here on all the rain furnaces,
the residential ones anyway.
They start out at a three,
so you need this flat three.
I don't really want to go, does it?
I can tell it's real close.
No.
Well, you don't have to stand up to be here with us.
I'll take care of this.
I was just trying to pull that out to crimp it a little bit better.
I'm not
sure I'm
helping.
One second, I need to put you down.
Just
get
it
started.
There we go.
Now we crimp this
all the way around.
A traditional double-sided three to four right here will not fit.
You won't be able to get it connected.
So even if you're doing double-sided,
you still need a single wall three to four to do this.
As you see, that four fits
right down on top of that.
And now we just need to
from here to here
and i've got like 31 inches one thing i want
to do is um i want to use this crimp
that's already here
the factory crimp
that is the best one
now we said 31 inches
tell you what i'm
going to go
more towards
32 just
because
better
to have too
much than cut
it too short
be careful
this will cut you
in a heartbeat i
was doing better
from the other side
now these little
sharp points
Everybody's got names for them. I call them gator teeth.
I'm not going to screw this together
just yet. Anybody who's put together
a dryer vent, you know that putting
together a four inch pipe
is
not
exactly
very
easy.
Right
now
we're
just
sizing
this
up
exactly,
fitting
in
the
exact
measurement.
Like I
need
to take
maybe two
and a
quarter
off.
Cutting
it like
that sure
was a lot
Now, before we go in...
I'm just trying to piece this together.
There we go.
I might
sink
a screw
into that.
It does kind
of help
if you take
screws out.
If
I
don't
get
this
correct,
if
I
have
the
polarity
reversed,
it
won't
sense
a
flame.
I did
turn off
that gas
valve
a little
while ago.
It ought
to work
now.
So
what
I was
expecting
to
find,
I did
install
a
carbon
monoxide
detector
for
her.
Actually, I thought I was filming, but I was not.
And then when I turned off the camera,
I actually turned it on. So yeah, that happens sometimes.
I don't always know when I'm recording sometimes.
You hit the button and maybe nothing happens.
So that one is done.
I should take a moment to tell y'all, go out and vote.
It is important.
Tomorrow's election day, the midterm elections.
If you haven't voted already,
I don't care what party you're voting for.
Just go out and vote.
Exercise your responsibility and your rights and do the right thing.
