Zoo Atlanta brings in a southern toad and discusses upcoming events

Looking for a fun event to take the kiddos to leading up to the holidays? Listen up, I got Rachel Reagan with Zoo Atlanta here, and she's joining me with more details. And then also too, you got Shelly here with us as well. Let me tell you about Shelly. She is a Southern toad. So these toads are common throughout the Southeastern United States. They like to hop around clearly and eat lots and lots of bugs. So they're pretty nice to have in your backyard cause they're gonna be great little pest control. But, and she's clearly so hopping excited to help me announce that the... Arthur M. Blank Panda Grove is opening on November 6th. Oh, so Zoo Atlanta is really excited to introduce everybody to our newest residents, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, the giant pandas. Yeah, we've been so excited seeing that footage and yes, oh my goodness. And to be honest with you, I'm so happy to see Shelly, but I was hoping we had a panda today. They're a little big to fit in our Z-Mobile, if we're honest. But please come on Friday. The zoo will open at 10:30 a.m. So excited to see everybody. Now, is there any update on the Panda Cam? I honestly do not have an update on the Panda Cam, unfortunately. I know that they are currently working on it, so I'm sure it will be up and running at some point. Awesome. But if you're looking for other fun events at the zoo, we do have Illuminite starting up later this month. Oh, Shelly is escaping. She said, I'm very excited today. We set up lots of beautiful lanterns and the guests are able to come after hours and wander around the zoo and see all these lovely lanterns, have some hot chocolate and stuff. So this will start on November 21st. And our first weekend is going to be an opening preview weekend will be discounted. So that'll be the 21st and the 22nd. That's so awesome. And it just sounds like a good date night to you know, you get to see some lights and get some hot chocolate and probably spend some time with Shelly. It sounds like she really wants to be there. And then Cookies with Santa! Yes! So if you're already in the Christmas spirit, we do have Cookies with Santa coming up. That will be December 5th and 6th. Pre-registration is required, so you can do that on zooatlanta.org. All right. And that was leading to my next question. Is there anything people should know about these events coming early? How early should they reserve? Because I know once it gets closer to the holidays, the kids get a little antsy and they're ready to try out all the fun things. So for Cookies with Santa, you definitely want to pre-register for that. That'll be online and you can reserve your spot. But for Illuminates, there's a lot of weekends coming up because it'll It'll run through January. So if you miss out this weekend, This first weekend, you will have more weekends to make it up. Yeah. And you can definitely find tickets and timing for that on our website, zooatlanta.org. Awesome. Looking forward to it.
