New at 6, deputies have arrested an Atlanta airline worker
for online child exploitation in an investigation in Coweta County.
Fox 5's Doug Evans has more on the story.
It would appear from sheriff's office body camera video
that Robert Wilkinson was just getting home from work
when he was arrested by deputies late last week.
In the driveway of his Coweta County home,
investigators were waiting for Wilkinson
with an arrest warrant.
They've been investigating him for several weeks,
they say, after a tip from the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children
that flagged his computer for possession of
child pornography, or what's called child sexual abuse material.
We confirmed with the sheriff's office that Wilkinson
is an employee of a major airline in Atlanta.
They said his alleged crimes did not happen at work
and were not related to his job.
Deputies relieved him of his safety glasses
and his airport credentials.
He's charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children.
Here's what the Sheriff's Office is saying about the investigation.
The Coweta County Sheriff's Office takes
the online exploitation of children very seriously.
We have agents dedicated to investigating every case brought to us,
and when possible, we will prosecute to the full extent of the law.
All right, so you're under arrest today
for the sexual exploitation of children.
That is a felony in the state of Georgia.
The case was investigated by the Coweta County
Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
They say they've seized all of his electronic devices,
and they say they'll comb through all that data on them.
And depending on what they find,
they say Wilkinson could face additional charges.
I'm Doug Evans, Fox 5 News, in Coweta County.
Thank you for the sexual exploitation.
