Key races to watch across US on Election Day

And polls are now open across many states in the nation as we get ready to of course cast our ballots in one of the most pivotal midterm elections in some time. Archie Newhurst standing by now with some of the races happening outside of Minnesota. These are races that could really... Change the balance of power in Washington. Good morning. Yeah, good morning, guys. Just minutes ago, at the top of the hour, polls opened in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. So lots of races here. We are watching some nationally right now. So there are Senate races, as you can see here, in Texas, Iowa, as well as Maine, Alaska, Michigan, and also in South Carolina. But right now, 8:06, we want to take a live look in Hudson. We have a crew out there right now, Hudson, Wisconsin, where voters will see a statewide referendum on their ballots today. Voters in Wisconsin will decide on three referendums, and they're ranging from the governor's veto power to how government workers are hired. The first question looks to limit the governor's partial veto power over increasing or creating taxes and fees. The second asks voters about their freedom to gather in places of worship specifically banning state and local governments from closing places of worship during a state of emergency. Now, the third one, that will decide whether to ban affirmative action hiring for government jobs, contracts, and public education. Now, speaking of those national races that we are keeping a close eye on, one of them in Texas, it is the Senate race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico. Now, the Democrat here, James Talarico, is trying to be the first Democrat to win a Texas Senate seat since 1988. So this race here, competitive, it's expensive, more than half a billion dollars already spent. In this race in Texas now over in Alaska, polls are set to open at 10 o'clock. The Senate race has been embroiled in some controversy here for what some are calling a decoy Dan on the ballot. Incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan finds himself facing Democrat Mary Peltola and another independent also named Dan Sullivan leading to a legal battle in the state. So Fox has this race right now as a toss up coming into today. Now, Georgia also has races to watch as well, including for the governor's seat and a U.S. Senate seat.
