There have been plenty of rain incidents around here recently.
It pales certainly in comparison to
parts of the southern U.S. River flooding continues across
the desert southwest but now
a lot of rain leading
And all across the board, Cody Matz detailing what's happening there.
to problems in Florida.
It's been a wild three or four days across parts of the southern U.S.
Extreme flash flooding.
Parts of Florida yesterday have more rain
in 12 hours than we've seen in a year.
Wow.
Just incredible amounts of rain. Let's start in Florida now
with where a stalled frontal boundary is now interacting
with tropical moisture leading to some extreme rainfall rates.
Parts of the state receiving more than 20 inches of rain
in just 12 hours yesterday. This video from Port St. Lucie shows
a Florida state trooper having to climb out of his patrol car.
Out of his window specifically, once it stops, I think you see it
at somewhere and eventually gets stuck on that flooded road.
Now, he wasn't the only one getting stuck in that flooding.
There were hundreds of vehicles on this road itself.
There you go. You saw the state trooper there.
Even a tow truck getting stranded in that water.
Now since vehicles couldn't get through the high waters, other Port
St. Lucie residents turned to some different modes of transportation.
This man was spotted kayaking through the floodwaters despite
officials declaring a state of emergency for the city itself.
They are now warning residents to avoid all unnecessary travel through
the day today due to widespread road closures.
Now, the flooding concerns are still continuing farther
to the west in the desert southwest.
Watch this closely.
You can see some Department of Transportation workers flagging someone
or screaming at the top of their lungs, waving their hands.
Or they're yelling at a driver to tell them to stop because they
weren't aware that the bridge in front of them was washed away.
Now, eventually, the driver did notice them.
They stopped and then turned around and didn't continue.
But thankfully, they did that because
it could have been a whole lot worse.
Now, flooding also continues in parts of Arizona,
where new video shows a water rescue that was taking place on Sunday.
A sheriff's deputy just outside Sedona waded
into chest-high rushing water to get to several people stranded
in a home surrounded by floodwaters.
The deputy also using a kayak to get around
and help get folks to safety.
Now, with rain continuing in some of these places today,
especially in Florida, it's going to impact Election Day.
In Florida, at least one county supervisor is warning everyone
to be watching social media for any changes to polling locations.
Any spots impacted by the flooding will need
to be moved to different locations,
likely leading to some confusion and potentially longer lines.
Now, for us here in Minnesota, it's just run-of-the-mill showers,
which Keith will talk more about coming up here in just a hot second.
That washed out road, the bridge in Colorado,
that car was so, so scary.
Thank you, sir.
Thank you.
Yep.
