Fox 2's Robin Murdoch joins us live
from the Northwest Activity Center in Detroit.
Robin, you know, we talk the Senate race,
and Haley Stevens is getting so much attention.
She's not even on the ballot, but we do have a governor's race as well.
And, of course, there's a bunch of down-ballot races that impact
people quite personally in their own neighborhoods in some cases.
So, a lot to talk about today,
but one race getting all the attention, of course.
Yeah, you know, there are a number of issues
that are bringing people to the polls today.
And I got to tell you, here at the Northwest Activity Center,
we have seen a really a steady flow of people throughout the morning.
I just ran inside, Dina, to double check and see, you know,
how things are looking so far, what the tally is.
And right now they're over, you know,
about 210 people who have voted so far.
There are five different precincts out
of the Northwest Activity Center.
So in the last hour since the last time we talked
to you, they saw about 60
More people, so it's looking
Pretty good out here, you just never know how things are going
to go with early voting and just the various options
in which people can vote ahead of Election Day.
But yes, one of the reasons why people are coming out today,
they tell me is because of that big US Senate race
that really has captured the nation's attention.
As you know, both Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed
and Republican candidate Mike Rogers,
they were out on the campaign trail yesterday really trying to connect
with any undecided voters before they head to the election.
To the polls today, Elsiead
was at the Majestic Theater last night in Detroit.
He was joined by Grammy
and Oscar-winning actor Common at a get-out-and-vote rally there.
Rogers, he was in Rochester Hills wrapping up
his bus tour with several other Republican
candidates who are also on the midterm ballot.
Now, Rogers is hoping that he's going to see some momentum
at the polls today due to Congresswoman
Haley Stevens' 11th-hour decision to switch and endorse him.
We did talk to a number of
That was a real big jump
and that was a real big turnaround for everyone to see that,
you know, she was backing one person and all of a sudden switched.
So that really made me.
Jump on out and come on out to let my voice be heard.
I think everyone should come out and vote
because it's important because this is our livelihood.
And if you don't speak up for your livelihood,
it's not, it's never going to change.
And the same politician is going to keep lining their pockets up
while we still struggle our nine to five jobs.
So it's important.
Yeah, we're hearing that from a lot of people
who head out here today, just the importance of
getting out to vote, how you cannot complain if you do not get out
and do your civic duty today.
Now, earlier this morning, the city clerk,
Janice Winfrey, she did hold a press conference out here
just to give us a game plan as to how things would go today.
And she is saying that she expects as
many as 130,000 people in Detroit alone to cast a ballot today,
and they are hoping that they
They could start seeing some election results right around
8:30 or nine o'clock tonight.
Of course, polls open will remain open until eight o'clock
tonight. And so hopefully everybody will get out and cast a ballot.
We are live here outside
the Northwest Activity Center. I'm Robin Murdoch, Fox 2 News.
