The Brewers fans got an experience they are never going to forget.
William Contreras again stopped by Brookfield for a special event.
Speaking of guys with pretty serious ink, he's got some good ink.
Does he?
Yeah.
Wild Bill does.
Our Derante Matthews showed us how fans waited
for hours to meet the World Series MVP face-to-face.
These three letters.
Now former chance. He's my favorite guy on the team.
I've loved him ever since he arrived here.
And it seems to be the new theme song. He deserves everything.
For William Contreras. I don't have words to say what I feel.
I mean, I feel like I'm floating in there. Floating
from being fresh off the Brewers World Series win and new MVP status.
Be the MVP, but especially the trophy, the trophy for the city.
Sunday morning, Contreras stopped by Dick's Sporting Goods
in Brookfield for a fan autograph signing
that had hundreds showing up. We got here.
Oh, what, 6 o'clock?
Bright and early.
I got in line about 7 this morning,
and we're already wrapped around the building.
Crowd wrapped around the entire complex and the street.
Meeting my favorite baseball player is really fun.
There's just such love and admiration for him.
Contreras says he feels that love.
It's beautiful. It's beautiful to hear everybody,
to see the fans, the kids, especially the young guys.
I mean, I really feel glad to be here.
Young fans like Lorenzo Contreras, who proudly has the same last name,
says the day was life-changing.
I gave him a fist bump.
He gave me a fist bump first, and I'm never washing my hands.
I asked Contreras in Spanish about
those who want to follow in his footsteps.
Muchos a los que inspiras. ¿Tienes algún mensaje para ellos?
No, que Dios los cuide. Diga que sigan...
Contreras says in addition
to representing Milwaukee,
he's also proud to be a symbol for his Venezuelan people.
No, se siente bien tener a mi gente aquí en Venezuela,
tan lejos que estamos, pero no, aquí hay muchos venezolanos,
hay muchos niños y por eso también lo estamos haciendo.
In Brookfield, Derante Matthews, Fox 6 News.
The first 250 people there got a special wristbands to meet Contreras.
It was on a first-come, first-served basis.
The signing started about 10.30.
Some people tell us they started lining up at 4 in the morning.
