Alright, welcome back.
We are here with one of the OGs in the Greektown District,
one of the original businesses, the Golden Fleece.
Our friend Lisa is here with us.
How long has the Golden Fleece been around?
We have been around since 1970. The Golden Fleece is one
of the original restaurants down here in Greektown.
Wow, and you said yours is the one, you can't miss it, big yellow sign.
If you're in this area, be sure to check them out.
I know Charlie's excited for this segment.
I am. I've been to the Golden Fleece many times.
Tell me though, Lisa, before you make some,
you can make your drinks so they'll go ahead.
I mean, you've got some famous drinks.
What's changed from 1970 Greek Town to today?
You know what?
Not a whole lot besides obviously the renovation.
We're still here.
The families, the people coming down.
It's, it's.
I always say if I had a dollar for every family that says I've
been coming here for 40, 50 years, I'd be a millionaire.
And you put some of these barricades here,
so now it's a walkable area in Greektown. Do you like that?
Correct. I love that. It's safer. I think that there's
so many opportunities to do so much and bring people down to Detroit.
I mean, it's a great place. I live outside of Detroit,
but I love coming down here every day.
Absolutely. And you're going to be making an espresso martini,
one of my favorites. So where are we starting here with this?
So, um...
I have all the ingredients in here.
We do a vodka with some Kahlua. We do fresh brewed
espresso.
Not everyone does the actual fresh
brewed espresso, so that's important.
It is fresh. It's not bottled, and we make them one by one.
And then the last is our
little secret ingredient, which is Noi Noi,
which is a Greek creamer. It just finishes
off very nicely.
I'm excited. All right, we'll let you shake it up.
There's fruit in there?
Fruit?
No, no, no.
Creamer.
Oh, creamer.
What's that?
Oh.
He's got to drink some espresso martini to wake him up.
I think I...
By the way, what time is your restaurant open today?
We're starting today early for the Lions game.
We have some little breakfast sandwiches
and of course we'll be open serving our gyros,
our famous gyros.
When we have these home games,
how early do the people flood into your restaurant?
You know what?
Lions fans are a very unique bunch
and they're down here having a great time before and after
the game.
She needs a microphone.
I'm so sorry.
There we go.
That's okay.
Before and after the game.
So do you guys know what the coffee beans mean?
Yes, it's health. Is it health, wealth, and is it love?
Prosperity.
Happiness.
Happiness.
Look at the size of that one.
That's yours? That's yours.
Oh, that's yours. But can you make another one, Lisa?
Yeah, that's good.
Oh, that's so good.
How is it? Is it any good?
Yes, I like the noise.
All right, Lisa, on a game day, on a home day Lions game,
how busy is the Golden Fleece restaurant?
there is a line but just rest assured even
though you have to wait and you see a line
we will feed you quickly or as quickly as we can yeah
and you're gonna eat good and you're
gonna have fun you're gonna hear a lot
of opah you're gonna see a lot of things flaming
I know we're talking drinks,
but what's the most popular meal people are ordering when
they come in on game day?
Don't waste one drop there.
Well, our gyro is what we're well known,
and we're famous for that, as well as our
lamb chops.
Our gyro is made in-house.
We season it in-house.
We don't fill it with anything, so it's pure lamb.
It's delicious, so you can't go wrong with that.
Gyro and espresso martini,
or are they pairing it with another drink too?
Well, I mean, we have a really nice Limoncello Fresco,
which is like, there's a Greek
So you've got to come check it out.
Let me check this drink out right here.
Charlie's like, come on with it.
All right, come and join us here.
Here we're at Greektown, Monroe Street,
right in front of the Golden Fleece.
We're not too far from the Golden Fleece,
which opens at 8 o'clock over there.
Let's just thank you, thank you, thank you.
Cheers.
All right, cheers, cheers, cheers.
Thank you so much, Lisa.
Thank you.
