Well, Lauren mentioned the marathon,
and tens of thousands of runners are getting ready
for one of New York City's biggest events of the year.
The New York City Marathon is tomorrow morning,
and the final countdown is on.
Tracy Morgan is a Grand Marshal this year, and Fox 5's Meredith Gorman
is near the finish line where runners spent the day gearing up.
Well, just a short time ago,
this area behind me was filled with runners
who are getting ready for the TCS New York City Marathon tomorrow.
They're dropping off their bags in this area.
It's now closed for the night,
which leads these runners to their next step.
Carb loading, eating a good meal, and resting, getting some sleep.
Before they have to run through all five boroughs tomorrow,
and it's something that some of these runners have been waiting days,
weeks, months, even years for the chance to do so.
So let's take a listen on how some of these people
are getting ready for the big race.
Sunday's going to be my 59th marathon this year,
and I did Marine Corps last weekend, Toronto, and then Chicago.
So what am I going to do? Well, I'm going to do my bag drop.
And then I'm going to go and get some rice
because there's actually more carbs per bowl
in rice than there is in pasta for the folks who don't know.
And there's no gluten, just in case.
So I'm going to have lots of rice and then try and go to bed at 7.
So I'm about to go to the pre-race dinner at the museum and then sleep.
And just rest and relax, try to relax as much as possible.
Probably what most runners are doing, I'm going to go back to my hotel,
get a good meal and just rest, try to get to bed at a decent time.
Thousands of fans lining the streets, cheering them on.
This place will be electric just a short time from now.
Reporting from the Upper West Side, I'm Meredith Gorman, Fox 5 News.
