First up tonight, multiple Halloween weekend house parties
are busted in Nassau
and police say they each involved underage drinking in Long Beach.
Police say they broke up a party involving around 250 young people.
It happened on East Park Avenue. We are told a couple
of the underage drinkers were given summonses and the parents
of the household were also issued summonses for social host violation.
That violation happens
when an adult homeowner knowingly allows someone under 21 to drink
alcohol. Police say it was a similar scene
on Fairfield Avenue in Mineola. A 53-year-old man
was arrested after police got a complaint
for a loud party at his house. Police say they found a
large group of people, many of them under 21,
with empty and open alcohol containers.
The homeowner, Thomas Quinn, is accused of supplying the alcohol.
Police say he did nothing to stop the underage drinking.
Neighbors say they saw the police arrive.
I'd say there was probably 30 to maybe 50 kids
on the street at the Halloween party.
Weekend, beautiful night,
and next thing you know that I think the party was kind of closed
and everybody was standing on the street
and Nassau County Police showed up
and the kids just dispersed and, you know, no violence, no vandalism.
Quinn is charged with social host law,
endangering the welfare of a child,
and unlawful dealing with a minor.
