0713 today you can go back to Henry
Meyer Festival Park to celebrate the
Brew Crew and the spooky season with
haunted mini golf today is the last
day to put your way through this
unique Halloween experience.
Andrew Boozoo is there now team
things off for us this morning.
Good morning Andrew.
Good morning, Bria. We are actually at Summerfest Grounds.
It's very ironic that you were mentioning everything
that happened yesterday.
Mark, I'm joined here by Mark of Bars and Rec.
That's right.
There was a lot going on yesterday, to say the least.
Oh my goodness. It was absolutely wild.
Yeah, and now we're back. I mean,
obviously there's some baseball decorations, everything like that,
but we're here highlighting haunted mini-golf.
That's right.
First and foremost, before we get into everything that has
to do with this event and this program and everything that,
you know, with the activities here,
Tell me about yesterday, because you guys were open yesterday,
but sort of outside of the normal hours?
A little bit. We kind of, you know,
we set this all up weeks ago for Halloween.
We had a great partnership with Milwaukee World Festival.
We came up with this big, crazy scheme to have Haunted Mini
Golf down here at the Summerfest grounds near Royal Pavilion.
And then the Brewers won, and we were just like, well,
we should probably have some type of presence here, right?
And it was just wild.
It was so many people, families coming through, having a great time.
The energy was insane. It was nuts.
Yeah, you're in the Aurora Pavilion.
That's right.
Which honestly gives you more space than
where you used to be at Nine Hole, right?
Yeah, Nine Below, down on the east side.
That's kind of where we cooked up this concept, did it for three years.
And then after three years, it was just kind of like,
well, what else do we got? Where else can we do this sort of thing?
Yeah, so we sort of searched around and again,
got in contact with the Milwaukee World Festival, put this on.
It's been wild.
Okay, I keep saying wild. I'm sure it is. You sort of gave me
a little preview of what each course sort of consists of.
I heard that there's a spider station or something like that,
which isn't very delightful to me, but hey,
you might have to check it out. But regardless, break it down for us.
What can people expect? Today is the last day,
The day is the last day, it is literally Halloween,
we're open today from 10am to 10pm, there's
free parking in lot G over here right by the grounds.
It's great for families that come in the daytime,
at night time we do have the ghouls come out
of their cribs and stalk around the course,
so it gets a little spookier at night, but
daytime is kid friendly for the most part,
it's a lot of fun, people should check it out,
What is your favorite part about seeing people come out
especially I mean obviously you had a lot of people yesterday,
But yeah, what is your favorite part seeing all this?
I honestly I feel like yesterday especially I was interacting
with a lot of families and just like you know
You'd have a whole spectrum of kids some kids would be like terrified
and be like oh my is this scary and I'd be like
Oh, it's a little spooky. It's okay. And some kids would be like
Let's go, I'm ready, show me the scariest thing you have,
I'm so excited to do this.
Which that would have been me when I was five, so you know.
I was going to ask, is there any stage that spooks you out a little bit
or are you just like a tough guy?
I'm in it, man. I know, I know.
No, I love Halloween. It's in my blood, yeah.
I'm very excited to actually go through these courses, check them out.
Obviously there's a lot of time and effort that's put into them.
Brian, we'll get into that, we'll get into all of that,
and yeah, I don't know if we'll
have to take a trip to the Spider Station.
Liam and I were like, eh, not really a big fan of spiders.
Don't know too many people that are, so.
Well, that means that we need to put you somewhere with spiders.
Maybe we just go for it, Brea, maybe, I don't know.
You should just go, you and Liam should just go for it.
It's Halloween, get into the spirit.
You know what I'm saying?
Okay, so maybe 745, we're going to see you in a spider web somewhere.
Yes?
He's going to do it.
All right.
Thanks, movie.
This is me.
Just because it's Halloween doesn't mean you have
to wait until nighttime to enjoy the day.
And for one more day, you can head over
to Henry Meyer Festival Park for a spectacular day of mini golf.
Andrew Muzo is live there now enjoying some
of the frightful activities in store.
Andrew, are you still in that spider web?
Okay, you've moved on.
We have moved on to bigger and better things,
but I'm sure, I mean, you mentioned it, just
because it's daylight doesn't mean you can't
enjoy Halloween festivities, I'm kind of very
grateful that it's, we're getting some sunlight,
because, you know, truth be told, I am kind
of a scaredy cat, so, and I'm actually glad
that this is sort of like a PG-13, isn't it,
right?
Yeah, yeah, that's what we tell people,
it's like, you know, you can bring your kids, but
treat it like a PG-13 movie, it's kind of up to you,
it's on you at that point, you
know, yeah, yeah.
Okay, so, okay, we have the golf balls here.
That's right.
I think this is sort of one of the entrances here.
There are two courses.
I know course B is over there.
And we have course A.
That's right.
This is course A.
Okay.
So walk me through it.
What are we looking at?
Okay.
We start here.
Yeah, we start here.
This here is the summoning circle.
You got a couple of creepy witch ladies.
You got a big old crystal ball over here
with a phantom kind of peeking out behind.
And again, these courses are meant to be pretty straightforward,
pretty easy, but not, you know, like, too easy, I guess.
It's more about the theme than it is the gameplay,
even if some people play very carefully.
Yeah, I was going to say. Okay.
Okay.
Oh, okay. Well, we got the, that's Cemetery.
I will say, I did not get the reference here.
I was like, Cemetery is spelled wrong, I think,
there, but that's a book or a movie or something.
Yeah, it's Stephen King, you know. We kind
of figured we'd pay a little tribute.
But yeah, this is actually, this is so funny.
We got all these leaves from the Summerfest Grounds crew.
They were all sweeping up at the end of the season.
We were like, hold up, what are you guys doing with those?
Can we incorporate those, please?
And they were like, yeah, of course we can. So, yeah.
Okay. How long does it take to put something like this together?
I don't know.
We threw it together in about two weeks.
It was a crazy marathon, knock-down,
drag-out sort of situation, but yeah.
We set all this up. This was empty about two weeks ago.
Okay, oh my, okay, there's a whole bunch of clowns, oh,
forgot about that one, I forgot that one was there,
let me, I don't know about that one.
Okay, so, a whole bunch of clowns, what is this one called?
This is a creepy carnival.
Yeah, it definitely is, okay.
You want to do a quick putt on this one?
Let's do it.
Oh man, okay, let's just, see now I'm,
now I'm shaking and everything, you guys got me stuttering.
Okay, so just, where's the hole at first?
The hole's right here where the little flag is.
Okay, we can do a little something here.
Let's just bend it that way.
Easy mode, yeah.
Okay, I've never been this tense during a mini-golf in my life.
And I'm sure that it's been really weird, too,
when you guys are trying to gather the materials,
and you're like, okay, does everyone have the...
The skull, does everyone have the fake blood?
Does everybody have?
It's so funny, yeah.
To be like, can we go over the budget sheet one more time
for the spiderwebs, you know?
We gotta know how much we're spending on spiderwebs, yeah.
Oh my gosh.
It's really funny.
This is just one course of two.
That's right, that's right.
So later on in the morning,
I do plan to be able to highlight the other one too, sort
of way, you know, what's more creepier or whatnot.
But there was one station as we
were walking through it before this hit.
I did get a little jump scare, Bria,
so we weren't able to get to that just because of timing,
but later on, I know there's another course,
we'll be able to look at that one, too.
All right, I hear some, like, some little
creepy, spooky laughs in the background.
Oh, my gosh, no.
No.
Okay, no.
Okay, there's a little baby head there.
That's spooky.
Okay, so maybe not taking, like, the real young kids there.
You said PG-13, so.
Unless, you know, some kids are fearless.
Yeah.
I don't know, 8-16.
We're going to take you back out to Henry Maier Festival Park
for a spooktacular day of haunted mini-golf.
Andrew Muzo is there now to break down all
of the fun in store for today.
Good morning, Muzo.
Good morning, definitely a turn of events here at Summerfest.
Yesterday we were talking all things Brewers,
now we're talking all things Haunted Mini Golf.
Here's one by Mr. Mark Romberg of Bars and Rec.
You guys have been busy putting this together.
I do know that today is the last day for Haunted Mini Golf.
People want to come down here.
That's right. Again, we're open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can come,
you can bring the kids.
The playground is kind of right over there
on the Summerfest grounds, you know, not literally
that skeleton, but you know what I mean, I'm gesturing.
So yeah, it's a good sort of family fun day
for Halloween if you're feeling it.
It's also a good sort of night time, coming to costume,
you know, we have like a VIP experience,
we call it the RIP experience, you get a private bar,
you get like a custom cup and stuff like
that.
It's fun, it's fun.
Awesome.
Boom.
That's right.
OK, so it was earlier this morning
we were in the other course.
Yeah.
Let's walk through some of the stations here.
We start off in one.
I'll let you take the lead and sort of point us through here.
Here we got a very spooky tunnel.
Now you see in the daytime, it does just
kind of read like a bunch of plastic and stuff like that.
But there's a ghost in here.
Oh, dang.
In the head.
But at the nighttime, it gets very vibey and creepy.
Like a nice vibe or like a...
Like a spooky vibe.
Oh, I kind of like this one.
Yeah, got a big old shark.
This one's more tame.
Mm-hmm.
Shark tank.
That's right.
What's going on in here?
It's just shark attack?
Shark attack sort of vibe.
You know, you kind of start your little putt,
goes under this kind of tiki bar,
and comes up the other side.
Okay, okay. And I think you said there was supposed
to be like a stingray or something like that.
Oh my gosh, yes. For the Brewers' win yesterday,
we bought like a stuffed stingray and put it in the shark's mouth.
I don't know where it ended up. Somebody maybe took it yesterday,
but it was a fun little prop to have.
Okay, and then what's around,
is there something else around this corner here?
Oh yeah, there's a final hole. I guess you can see it.
Let's see what we got here.
This is the kind of crashed out hole. We got stop signs and zombies
and stuff like that and caution tape like you wouldn't believe.
Wow.
And what are the hours that people should know about
as far as when this is open, how long is it open for?
Yeah, again, it opens 10 a.m.,
closes 10 p.m. Daylight hours is family-friendlier.
Again, we say page 13, but suffice to say we don't have, you know,
any sort of creatures kind of rumbling around our courses.
Nighttime comes around, you know,
creatures come out of their crypts, it gets real spooky.
You might see, I don't know, somebody kind
of jumping out of the corner and grabbing you.
Yeah, just go, okay.
All right, well, I know what time I will
be attending and not attending.
Good check.
Anyway, we have plenty more to highlight here at Haunted Mini Golf.
We can wake up and be right back.
Brewers! Milwaukee Brewers! Milwaukee Brewers!
Let's play some baseball!
Let's play some baseball!
Let's play some baseball!
Andrew was quite the ladies man as you can see.
He had a lot of fun on Wake Up Yesterday getting you ready
for the Brewers Championship Rally.
Today he's back at Henry Meyer Festival Park
for some haunted mini golf fun. Good morning Andrew.
Good morning, good morning.
As soon as I heard that, I was like,
I know exactly when that was yesterday morning.
It's sort of a turn of events here,
joined again by Mr. Mark Romberg, the bars and rec.
Because we're here at Summerfest.
Yesterday was all things Brewers.
Now we're here highlighting Brewers.
Haunted mini golf?
That's right, like on the big screen it says.
There we go, with the stage set and everything.
What would you say is the big thing,
or the biggest thing that people should know about this?
Would it be that it's the last day of it?
Yeah, it's Halloween.
No better time than to come down,
celebrate the last day we have of our haunted mini golf
down here at the Summerfest grounds.
Yeah, okay, times.
Parking, all those things, what should people know about?
So we're open at 10 a.m. today.
We close at 10 p.m., that's kind of our last
round of reservations basically.
You can go to our website
or to Milwaukee World Festival's website to get tickets.
That's kind of where you want to book that.
Or I think you can walk up and buy tickets too.
Bring the kids during daytime hours.
It can be a spooky little fun.
And then if you want to,
there's a playground just right outside of the footprint here.
So that's a very easy family fun day.
Nighttime hours gets actual spooky, you have, you know,
creeps and crawlers coming around each course,
jumping out and you're spooking, you know, that sort of thing, so,
again, a very fun sort of Halloween vibe later in the evening,
a very easy family fun day earlier in the day, and it's free
parking over at, yeah, I think Lot G, I want to say, over there.
Okay, cannot complain about that, and aside from mini-golf,
there's also some other things that...
sort of talked about earlier,
you want to reiterate as far as like the RIP area?
That's right.
Not a VIP area, an RIP.
No, it's not a VIP.
It's an RIP area.
It's a little private bar we got over to the side over there.
You get a fun souvenir cup that has a little skull face on it
and lights up and everything like that.
Okay, okay.
And yeah, you get an access to a private lounge.
It's a much more relaxed and I might even say slightly adult version
of the Haunted Golf experience.
Okay.
Music options?
Yeah, you know, we have live DJs here pretty much every night.
I guess there is a stage.
I know, there's a stage.
We've got a booth, they're spinning
all kinds of haunted hits and whatnot.
It's a fun vibe, yeah.
Awesome.
And I know that even with this setup here,
typically Summerfest, you think of, of course,
it's summer.
Naturally.
It's the city of festivals, so there's so much going on,
but usually there's not a whole
lot going on on Summerfest grounds in the fall time.
We've been able to really extend the season.
Yeah.
So how has that been?
You know, from your perspective,
seeing people come down here, enjoy what you guys have,
because typically the setup isn't even here, right?
I know.
Again, like two weeks ago, this was empty.
We set all this up in the past couple of weeks.
It's been really fun.
Again, as you say, like, you don't think of Summerfest in late October.
Yeah, I know.
I mean, this is...
Brewers aside, a pretty banner year for Summerfest in late October,
but still, like, this has been so cool to see people come out,
have a spooky time with us, and just kind of enjoy the space
that we have here right here on the lakefront, you know?
Yeah, you did tell me. It got super busy yesterday,
a lot of funny stories.
It was a little crazy, yeah.
Took a little bit.
Gonna remember that forever, yeah.
Of course, yeah.
Definitely, you should come down here.
It's the last day.
It's Halloween, as Mark said.
Why not?
You know what I mean?
So, of course, make sure you're picking
the right time frame to come down here,
especially if you have kids or whatnot,
or if you're just bringing a scaredy cat like me.
Maybe you just want to go during the daytime.
But a whole lot going on here.
Summerfest is still alive
and well here during the holiday season, this Halloween season,
last day of the Haunted Mini Golf for you.
Okay, Andrew, you didn't tell us your costume.
What are you going to be?
A scaredy cat?
Yeah.
Okay, I was thinking about running it back,
because last year I was, not Troy Bolton,
but I was Chad Danforth from High School
Musical, so maybe I run that back.
I was also thinking like a 90s jumpsuit, still sticking through that.
I know it's the day of Halloween,
so I'm going to make, I have options, okay?
I got some options, that's the biggest thing.
I don't want to go anything boring,
though, you know, like a sports jersey.
I don't want to do that, that's a little boring.
Okay.
All right, okay.
There are going to be a lot of misses today.
There are a lot of Brewers players.
All right, thanks, Andrew.
