Maddie and Lauren and Jana and everybody put it together.
I mean, this is just an amazing, amazing group
of people coming together for a good show.
Of course, Markovs, thank you guys as well.
Everybody who did hair and makeup.
We had a fantastic show.
Another one.
We did it, y'all.
We did it, y'all.
Last thing we're going to do, dance off.
Devil, Dog, and Tucker.
Let's go.
Oh, oh, oh.
For the Marissa
Mitchell Show.
It is.
Yes.
This is Tyler Chamillion.
Sleepy today.
Oh, man.
Other side of the studio.
This is one of my favorite days.
Yes.
We're at Fox 5, where we really get
into the Halloween spooky spirit of it all.
So we're going to keep going crazy,
and the party continues with an early pop sheet.
Have a seat.
So do you all always get into Halloween like this?
Is this a thing?
Of course.
Like the best thing of the year.
Frankie
this morning.
What did you make me do?
Did I do that?
Ha ha ha!
So, yes, I'm fully committed to the hair.
I love it.
You can't tell.
And it's been so much fun, full of surprises.
People can never guess what we're going to do each and every year.
So to continue on with the surprise, I have another question.
And what would that be, Marissa?
Where's my Laura?
Mara?
Where's my milkshake?
My Laura.
Laura, where is she?
I heard she is.
I'm going to kill you.
You're telling me I know I'm a girl.
I said, you got to come as yourself because I wanted to honor you,
of course, playing Laura Winslow.
I'm Steve Urkel.
37 years.
This is a great costume.
Oh, thank you so much.
And shout out to you.
I shantied for the wig and all, so it's a lot of fun.
Baby, I don't know about surprise because I was like, uh,
if surprise goes left, you're going to be the one to get surprised.
You dealing with it nice.
Oh, man.
What does it mean to you, though, to be a part of a show that's,
like, embedded into pop culture to the point where you say a line,
you see a costume, you automatically know who it is?
I love it.
And I love that we've had such an influence
on people's lives where they would automatically know, they would see
your costume and know, you know, that we made that kind of impact
on people where they would automatically recognize the character.
I don't know if you saw me do the Urkel dance,
but I did that as well off the top of my head.
What a nut.
I want you to join us as well with all of your Halloween photos.
We've got to put up that QR code
so you can scan it, make sure you send.
You are so committed.
He's that breaking character over here.
So we can kind of like, really?
Oh, so this has been a multi-hour ordeal.
All right.
I love it.
Well, listen, we are not the only ones getting
into the spooky Halloween spirit.
Celebrities have been pulling out all the stops for their costumes.
And this morning's Halloween hot sheet is about that.
Hot or not? Let's begin with the first one.
NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns and his wife, Jordan Woods,
transforming characters from the Game of Thrones.
What do we think?
Oh, I mean, I think it's pretty hot.
I love Game of Thrones, just the best series.
And like our characters here, I love that they just live on.
You know who they are instantly.
Constantly.
Such a good one.
I gave it a hot, too.
What do you think?
Is it Big Baby or what can I call you?
Ha ha ha!
Baby Beta.
Baby Beta.
Baby Beta.
The generation.
Yes, the generation.
Oh, definitely hot.
Did you see that?
Oh, my goodness.
It's hot.
You got it on the right side.
Definitely hot.
Did you see the commitment?
It's all about the commitment.
Look at that.
Look at that face.
Look at that hair.
Look at those arms.
Look at those legs.
Look at the costumes.
That is a 10 across the board.
Oh, my goodness.
I wish I had their makeup.
You gotta wonder how much money people
will spend on this stuff.
You know, it looks like probably lots of money,
lots of planning, hours put in, handcrafted.
I'm committed.
I'm committed this way.
My outfit is still in UPS somewhere,
but I promise you I'm just like them.
I would spend a lot of money.
You would?
All right.
It's my time.
Well, up next, we have Chloe Bailey
getting her Meg Griffin on from Family Guy.
I cannot wait to check her out.
Oh, listen, this is hotter than hot.
This is exactly.
Yes.
You see, it's the body for me.
Exactly.
She's like, let me show all of this.
That part.
Yeah, the costume is secondary, I do believe.
But I think she hit it, nailed it, actually.
I said give her a 10.
Look at those thighs.
Look at those shoulders.
Look at those arms.
Look at that flat stomach.
Even the look in her eyes.
She's like, you can never.
All of it.
Exactly.
And I don't think anyone else should even try.
She ate that.
She got it.
She definitely ate that.
I don't know if we like the costume or that body.
What is it giving?
You know what it's giving?
I want all your attention.
And she got it.
And she got it.
Yes, she did.
Check this one out.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's daughter, North West.
He turned herself into
Welcome to Edward Scissorhands.
I used to be so afraid of him.
Oh, me too.
Oh, my God.
Yes.
You know what?
I can actually see that.
Yes.
Oh, this is great.
It's the commitment for me.
Yes.
All hot.
Very much.
So hot.
Take a look at this one.
Bob the Drag Queen and Monet X Change.
They are giving us their best white chicks movie impersonation.
We have to see what we think about what they put together.
That was so popular, that movie.
And react to it as well.
Oh, my God.
I thought that was more
Oh, wow.
I thought it was more than Sean.
Yeah.
Consistently.
Yes!
That was definitely hot.
The walk-in shoe, the strut, I love.
These people in L.A. got a little bit too much time on their hands.
I love it, I love it.
Talk about a transformation.
I mean, the dedication, the photo shoots, the teasing on Instagram.
It probably started like a month ago,
determining what they're going to do for Halloween
Hot, hot, hot, for sure.
If I had that time of time, that type of time.
Last but certainly not least,
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne
transformed into one of Disney's iconic villains.
Oh, wow.
Wow!
She scared me.
I don't know if my hair can be
any closer to God, honestly.
I mean, I love it.
You lose every hairspray in the store.
I don't think there's any left.
Yes, I love it.
We're following on a Saturday this year.
You may want to skip out on all the hustling,
bustling, just cuddle up with your boo thing.
And watch a scary movie.
This is no trick.
One therapist actually says
that scary movies can spark quite the treat in the bedroom.
If you know what I'm saying.
They say the same nervous system pathway
that normally increases adrenaline or a racing heart
is also linked to the arousal processing region of the brain.
That study hot or not?
I get it hot, but I think that's true too.
That study is hot!
Arousal is the word here.
Arousal.
But you know what?
This is also good, and you know you
shouldn't have brought this up around me.
I'm just saying.
It is the costumes and the role-playing can make it super hard.
You're going to be role-playing soon.
Being that you're engaged,
you're going to learn a whole lot about role-playing.
Oh, my God.
Actually, he's the one who helped me do the dance
and get the voice down pack so
Oh, that's right, he's an actor.
He's an actor.
That's right, he's an actor.
He's a musician, so I like it.
Oh man, it doesn't work,
you know putting on a scary movie to get the temperature right
Nah, baby.
Love you.
Nah.
Nah.
I don't even need the scary part.
I can put a movie on and my temperature is already right.
Let me tell you.
Blow on me and my temperature is right.
Just tap me on my shoulder and say it's time.
And I'm all right.
I thought you were a baby.
Oh, my bad.
Oh, man.
Say you're a day drinker without saying you're a day drinker.
Go on now.
So for all the singles out there, whatever it takes.
I think we're giving a lot of good tips here
for people looking to mingle.
New data shows incorporating Halloween into your dating app profile
could actually increase your chances of finding the one.
Data from Hinge Dating App says that 62% of women, 79% of men,
said that they're more likely to swipe right, that means they like you,
on someone wearing a funny or sexy Halloween costume.
The app also found that more than 90%
of daters would actually love to go on a Halloween-themed date.
Halloween-themed dates, hot or not?
I just told you, role-playing, yes!
But just going to a costume ball,
any Halloween-oriented events, parades, whatnot.
I don't know if it's just me,
but Halloween, to me, it's just so freeing.
Like, everyone's in character.
Everyone gets to release and have fun.
So I like this idea of dressing up.
It also makes it, you know, just hot.
And, yeah, you got to play into a character.
Maybe I didn't got you.
Oh, it's a knot.
Oh, you gave it a knot?
Nine.
Okay, just take the clothes off.
Oh!
Fair enough.
I don't want to do all that.
Take your clothes off.
Some of these costumes are like this itty-bitty thing
that you see everywhere.
I'm not mad.
That's true.
Isn't that true, Mary Catherine?
Hey, if you got it, though, I appreciate it.
I mean, good for them, you know.
Show me what I'm working with before we get things going.
I've had so much fun with you guys.
This is awesome.
I almost want to cry looking at you.
Oh, girl, get it out.
I know you've been a good friend for years, but like...
Growing up, watching the show, loving the show, and it's all too much.
With a spooky season come superstitions,
we know that, and one man knows them best.
Let's listen to it.
That song was released 54 years ago.
Wow, I know.
The incomparable Stevie Wonder is set to bring his song
in the key of life tour to Capital One Arena on November 23rd.
Not going to touch on the ticket prices, but I'm praying that I can go.
So I want to ask you guys if you're superstitious.
You know, we hear walking under the ladders, bad luck,
leaving your purse on the floor, you lose your money.
Do you believe in all of that?
I think I do.
I think there's a part of me that believes in superstition
Only because it's been embedded in me for such a long time.
Now, dude, does it rule my world like I'm
not going to go outside if it's this or that?
No, but I definitely will take note of it.
Is there one in particular that comes to mind?
The one that I like is when my palm itch,
I'm going to come into something.
Ladies, what do you think?
My family is, I'm not really a superstitious person,
but in my family, if somebody sweeps your feet,
you better be ready for a fight.
Oh, yes.
And not put a broom anywhere near my feet.
That's right.
I'm splitting the poles.
Do not.
What about you, Mary Decker?
I definitely have some superstitious moments here.
And also, I mean, I'm like a cat lover.
And, you know, I love a black cat.
I love an orange cat.
I just love mystical elements.
So I'm superstitious all day long.
All day long.
Right?
Thank you so much for coming.
I hope you enjoyed your surprise surprise.
You know it.
Well, soon to come, we are about to put the thrill in thriller.
We're going to get a sneak peek at DC DPR's big thriller Flash Mob
and Halloween Parade.
They're also going to teach us some moves from the iconic band.
I'm just now telling these guys this, so get ready.
Also, a little bit later, too much Halloween candy can...
Hurt your teeth, especially with the kids.
So we have a dentist here to share
some Halloween candy do's and don'ts.
And also be sure there's still time to scan
the QR code to send us your Halloween photos.
We'll be right back.
Learn more.
We all
know
the
song.
We know it.
Thriller by the late, great Michael Jackson continues to top
the charts, especially during the Halloween season for decades.
King of Pop fans all over
the world have taken part in Thriller flash mobs.
From Germany to Chile to right here in the DMV,
Thriller continues to captivate millions.
And tonight, D.C., it's your turn to show up and show out.
We're here to give us some details on a very popular Thriller flash mob
and Halloween parade happening tonight at the Kennedy Rec Center.
And to show us a few moves, we have D.C. Department of Parks and Rec
Director, Thene Freeman, Dance Instructor, Jamie Williams, and you.
Booth dancer Addison, oh I'm scared of you girls, scared of you.
Thank you so much for coming and if you're just joining us,
this is Al Reynolds, if you can't tell.
Yeah, I'm starting to speak now.
You say you are Jan what, Jan?
I'm Jan, uh, Beta.
Beta.
Yeah.
I'll call him Big Baby, you're older.
And then we have Mary Catherine's own, your character.
Yes, I'm Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
And I am...
Steve Urkel.
I'm starting to speak now.
So tell me about this, Stacey.
This is the second time that you all are doing this.
And tell us about all the fun and why.
So first of all, I'm going back to a night where I
was on a date with Michael Jackson.
Oh, yeah!
I was on a date with Michael Jackson,
and I thought we were going into the movies, and next thing
you know, everybody turns into a werewolf,
and so we want to bring that back to life
for free.
We're shutting down 7th Street,
and we got a few moves, and we've been teaching that
we've modified the moves so that anyone from age five...
To 80.
Oh, wow.
Can do it.
Very simple.
I love that.
We just had Abundant Dance on NBC.
And that's the, they did the best rendition
of Thriller I have ever seen.
And I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan.
I agree.
I agree.
They tore it up.
You're going to break it down for us
in a way that we can all feel like MJ.
Yes.
Five, eight counts.
I love it.
It's really simple.
All right.
Before we get to it, though,
tell me about being a part of this and why it's so good
for the entire community.
It is so good because I feel like...
That, like, some people get to have, like,
not, like, a chance of dancing, but, like,
because they don't know how to dance, but they do know how to dance.
You all know the Thriller dance?
I know some of it.
The main part.
And free.
All right.
How about for you?
Well, it just teach the kids how to work with others,
people you have never seen before.
You come in and you get to learn it and just have fun.
Like she said, you don't know how to do it,
so we modified it so everybody could take part.
All right, I don't know about you all, but I'm ready.
I'm ready.
I'm ready.
I'm ready.
Let's see, Taylor, if we can drop the beat,
drop the song, and who's going to lead it?
I'll lead.
Show us.
You're going to lead how to do the dance?
All right.
So we're going to start with our left foot,
and our head is going to go on one, and we're
going to continue to walk forward.
So we're going to hit the one, two,
three, four, head, five, six, seven, eight.
Okay.
We got that much?
All right.
Let's spread out a little bit, you guys.
This is good before the song really gets cranky.
Let's do it one more time.
Five, six, seven, hit a one, two, three, hit five, six, seven, eight.
Then we're going to step out on the one.
One, two, three.
We're going up, down, up, down.
Then five, six, seven, up, down.
All right?
All right?
I'm going to be doing it.
That's how she does it.
Let's go.
Let's go.
I got number one.
Let's do it.
Come on, all right.
Five, six, five, six, seven, step.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, out.
One, two, three, up, down.
Five, six, up, down.
And this is the part we do?
And then we roll, yeah.
That's the part that everybody does.
That's the part that's next.
OK, OK, OK.
So after here.
So after that, come on.
You can bring it back and teach the next step,
and then we'll do a pull out.
So after here, we roll one, two, three, hit.
Five, six, seven, so throw it on the one, two, three, four,
then throw it on the five, six, seven, eight.
Okay, got it, got it.
One more time on that last bit
and then we'll put it together.
All right.
Five, six, seven, throw.
One, two, three, four, throw.
Five, six, seven, eight.
I got it.
And then we'll go right into the scarecrow.
On the left, two, three, and four, five, six, seven, eight.
Tum, tum, tum.
Okay, we're gonna do it all together, guys.
Final time, we got it?
Come on, Addison.
Let's make MJ proud of this.
Let's do it.
We going to fall out?
We'll make sure.
All right, let's do it.
5, 6, 7, head.
1, 2, 3, head.
5, 6, 7, step.
2, up, down, and throw.
1, throw.
5, scarecrow.
1, 2, 3, and 4, 5, 6, and 8.
I got you all together early for it.
When can they go to enjoy it?
What time should they be there?
Kennedy Recreation Center at 7 p.m.,
but 6 p.m. we're going to run lessons again
so we can get everybody acclimated.
Five easy steps.
You just saw how easy that was to learn.
Make it fun.
All right, make sure you come.
And I have another guest here.
Odysseus is here.
Yeah, Odysseus is here.
He got us good weather for this tonight as well.
Welcome to the show.
I don't know what that Tucker's cake stuff is.
I've been wandering the planet for 3,000 years, but here I am.
The weather looks fabulous.
Go ahead and enjoy a gorgeous afternoon.
Low to mid-70s in the weekend.
Trick-or-treating will be in the low 60s tomorrow, but perfect.
Be your best Urkel.
Oh, my God.
I've never seen his glasses.
So this is a treat for me, and here I am wearing glasses.
I'm very grateful you didn't put me in that dancing segment.
I don't know.
That's what he would have done.
Tucker can go.
Thank you so much.
And thank you all for coming.
That was so much fun.
This is awesome.
Well, still to come, the kids are counting down
to all that big trick-or-treating.
And the big kids, like myself.
But not too much candy.
You want to make sure you protect your teeth,
so a dentist will be with us next.
And speaking of a sweet tooth, you want to create some spooky desserts?
Yes!
We're going to decorate as well.
Keep it locked.
And also, send us your Halloween photos.
We're going to start sharing those in the second half hour.
And thank you so much for joining us on a super fun Halloween show.
We got Baby Beta.
See you later.
See you later.
Eric Becker as well.
Great, great job.
So let's begin with some of our viewer-submitted pictures,
like this one coming in.
And this one is actually close to my family
because we have a photo of my nephew, who's a young Michael Jackson.
He's getting so tall.
His name is August.
And his mom, my sister, she's going
to be Catherine Jackson when she takes a picture.
Trick-or-treating a little bit later.
And also, we have your photos that are coming
in as well that we're sharing.
But before we get to that, I wanted
to also ask you all about your memories.
But first, let's do Aunt Spanky here.
Oh, we just had one up.
We'll get back to that.
Okay.
What are some of your favorite memories from Halloween?
Oh, I just remember Halloween was a big deal in our family.
Obviously, I come from, you know, a family of educators.
You had to dress up.
You had to also dress up for school.
You dressed up for church.
And you also dressed up for the community.
So it was a full day.
You had to always check your treats, what you got when you came home.
My parents were very careful about that.
They wanted to see how much you got.
And then my mother knew that I would eat it all in one sitting.
So I would only be rationed out so many a day.
Yeah.
I used to look forward to getting home
and pouring out all the candy on the floor.
And my sister and friends would then kind of barter and trade candies.
I feel the same way.
I have really good memories of getting to trick-or-treat
with my older brother and him toting me around.
And I have to say, getting to trade with him after,
he was not the most judicious with his trading.
They were stingy.
He was a little stingy, but I,
and then we always hosted a Halloween party every year,
which I love.
Do we have time to pop up that picture again?
We had a viewer submitted one.
I wanted to see it.
Aunt Spanky here from DC.
She says, Dave and Easy as Uncle Fester and Wednesday.
Oh, you all aced it.
Just scan the QR code and keep sending those in.
Well, still to come, Halloween candy
and kids can be a scary combination when it comes to
their teeth.
A dentist is here to share some tips on how to enjoy the holiday.
We'll
be right
back.
We'll
It's been a super fun Halloween edition of the Marissa Mitchell Show.
be
Tomorrow on All Hallows' Eve, kids everywhere will
right
be heading out to do some good old trick-or-treating.
And we're all big kids up in here, up in here.
And we have all the candy.
But we've got to keep in mind
back.
that you must make sure you protect your teeth.
Yes.
In the process.
So we have the tooth fairy.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Your nanny, she's here with us to show us how to do that.
First off, what do you love about the holiday?
Oh, I love the holiday.
It's my favorite, actually.
Really?
I absolutely love it.
And I do love candy.
You just have to have it carefully.
You do.
I'm like, any, many, many more in my eyes or some of it.
And so what should parents do right out of the gate
when the kids come back with the
candy?
How should they?
Well, my biggest tip, actually, is have it in one sitting.
So instead of grazing all day long,
instead of walking around and saying, have a little
piece of candy, and then go back and have
another little piece of candy, have a little
Have it all in one sitting and then brush
and floss because every single time you put
something sweet in your mouth,
it takes your healthy saliva an hour to neutralize the acid.
So for one hour, it's a cavity-making zone,
so you don't want that one hour over and over
and over again.
When I was growing up, my mother used to take,
well, you know, to the dentist, but they used
to put like a film of something to protect our teeth,
especially during before Halloween.
What was that called?
It was probably fluoride.
Yeah, just to strengthen your teeth.
Do you recommend that before Halloween?
Well, I don't know if it's before Halloween in general.
I think fluoride is good.
Don't ingest it, but do put it on your teeth
because it does protect from cavities.
Your parents really worked.
Yeah, well, they were about not getting a bill,
like, going to the dentist.
That's what they were about.
This is about driving.
Be clear.
What are some other tips you could give?
Well, another one is actually anything with xylitol.
Okay.
So a toothpaste.
Toothpaste with xylitol?
And that's what you should be looking for?
Well, no, I mean, fluoride in general.
I like toothpaste with fluoride.
And I know there's questions about it, but I do like it.
For your teeth, it's good.
Fluoride is our friend.
I love that.
For your teeth, it is your friend.
Exactly.
And then also anything with xylitol,
like sugarless gum, you know, anything that has
xylitol in it, it's bad for your pets,
but it's really good for you because it's very
alkalizing.
So anything that's going to alkalize,
that's going to neutralize the acid is a good thing.
So I always say anything with xylitol is good.
Okay.
So sugar-free gum, mouthwash, toothpaste, anything like that.
And then also, just rinse with water afterwards.
Rinse with water.
Well, in case anybody's wondering,
my favorite candies, hot tamales, lemon heads.
I've always been super crazy about them.
I love a hot tamale.
I was never going for the chocolate of it all.
But my question is, what are the best candies or safest
candies for your teeth?
Well, chocolate is your best bet,
because it melts off really quickly.
But something that's hard, like a hard lemon drop,
something like that, you can.
bite on it and it can break your teeth
and it sits in your teeth in your mouth for a really
long time before it melts. Anything that's sticky.
So a big no on jawbreakers. Yeah jawbreakers are
no. Sticky candies are no. I'm really really
careful before I have Sour Patch Kids because
it's acidic and it's sugary. Me too especially the sour problem.
It's so good though. It's so
good. I do love it. What about something with like caramel
and chocolate? I feel like caramel
would get stuck in your teeth too. Yes caramel
definitely will get stuck in your teeth too.
I do love it. You can have it just as soon as you have it.
Brush your teeth or chew some gum.
And have it in one sitting.
Have it in one sitting.
Kids and adults.
Kids and adults.
Exactly.
Speaking of brushing your teeth,
how do you know which toothbrush to use?
I always say soft.
You always say soft?
I always go for medium.
No, soft or extra soft.
I always go for hard because if you can't get it off,
I need to get it off.
So you're saying I'm doing the wrong thing?
If I could stick that in my mouth.
Even babies need their teeth brushed.
Even babies need them brushed.
Clean his mouth with some toothpaste.
See, that toothbrush came in handy.
But all these years, I've been using medium,
so I should shift.
Oh, no, soft.
Softer, I should floss always.
Because that way, you won't wear off your gums.
You have to be careful with it.
And just use it gently.
Do little circular motions at a 45-degree angle
under your gum line, just a little bit.
And use it longer.
But is that going to get the plaque off?
Yeah, it's not going to get it.
It's going to get that bacteria up out of there.
I want to get in there.
Always.
And that's why we floss, or should floss, every day.
I'll floss every day.
It doesn't matter when you floss, so long as you floss once a day.
I see the Listerine over here.
Yes, I'm a fan of mouthwashes too.
You don't necessarily have to use them all
the time, but let's say you had a day where
you were having a lot.
Your breath is kicking.
Yeah.
Have some mouthwash.
Yes.
I'm a goggler too.
I drink a lot of coffee, so I have
to keep that in mind too, coffee breath.
For coffee, I always say a rinse with water.
Okay.
I think about it like a mug that you leave coffee in.
Let's say you leave it in your sink,
and you come back, it's all stained.
If you rinse it off immediately, it doesn't get a stain.
Same thing happens in your mouth.
See, that's how your teeth are so white.
That's how they're so beautiful and diffracting.
You guys would probably have good teeth if you were dentists.
I'm just saying.
Welcome to a dentist's office.
And they jacked.
I'm running out of there.
Maybe I picked the wrong career.
That's what I'm saying.
Maybe.
Maybe.
So what are your plans for Halloween?
Oh, I always go to my friend's house,
and we actually watch little kids come over, and
we give them candy.
Good candy.
Candy, because I don't give out peppermint,
and don't give out oranges and apples and bananas.
No, no.
Well, I actually take all the candy I
have here, and I take it to her house.
Oh, wow.
That's super cool.
You've got some good pickings here, too.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I saw you pick it all.
Here's a question.
I was actually talking to a friend about this the other day.
Do you give candy out to the kids that don't dress up?
Or does it matter?
Yeah, all the kids deserve candy.
I think all of them deserve candy.
How old is too old to be trick-or-treating?
Don't look at me.
I don't think you should be asking us.
I'm going to go today.
We're the last people you should be asking.
I would go trick-or-treating if I could.
Yeah, me too.
It's super fun.
It's fun.
And I got to get to somebody's costume ball.
I have a costume.
Just want to go and enjoy it.
I cannot share.
But I will get a couple's costume.
Oh, it is.
I'm looking forward to that.
Okay.
Well, thank you so much for coming.
Thanks for having me.
This segment's so fun.
Yes.
And you don't have to take the candy back.
No, you guys can take as much as you want.
And I'll take the brush.
Yeah.
We already got this started.
I know.
Just a second.
So now that we know how to take care of our teeth,
we're going to actually enjoy super sweet treats next.
Yes, exactly.
It's a good thing we started with you first,
because next to come, we're going
to get into the ultimate cake decorating experience.
All right.
The founder of Daisy Baked It While She Dressed Up Too.
Little Red Riding Hood, she's ready to show us
how to create some spooky cake decorations for Halloween.
I'm Steve Urkel.
Ha, ha, ha.
I'm done.
I'm dead.
Here to show us how to decorate the ultimate Halloween cake
that's perfect for the spooky season.
We have founder Little Red Riding Hood of Daisy Baked It,
Daisy.
Davis Marcello, did I get it right?
Yes, you got it right.
Thank you for coming back.
And if she looks familiar, she did an outstanding job,
I want to say two weeks ago.
And when I told her, I was like, oh, we got to have you back.
Right.
And she was the first person I thought about.
I will come back whenever you want me to, Marissa.
Oh, my gosh.
And I see why.
We're getting prepared.
We're going to play that in just a bit.
We're going to start decorating cakes.
But first, we're going to talk about your love for cakes
and your business and what you do.
Yes.
When did it start?
So it started.
A little over three years ago,
and I am really into MasterChef Gordon Ramsay.
Love him down.
And so I've always wanted a KitchenAid mixer.
So I was like, well, I really want it.
And my husband was like, well, if you get it, you better use it.
Mmm.
And so...
In other words, challenge accepted.
Did he buy the KitchenAid device?
I think I bought the device.
I think I bought it.
I think I bought it, but literally he said,
challenge accepted, and this is how we got
to where we are now.
So you designed this without going
to any type of school or anything?
No formal training,
no anything. This is just,
this is...
It's your gift.
You're so artistic.
It's a gift that God gave me.
When did you realize that you were gifted?
enough to do this as a career and own that space?
Honestly, I knew when it was all I could think about.
And I would just research it.
And I just dove right into it and learning everything
I could learn about it.
And then two years ago, actually, November 1, 2024,
I took that leap.
And I quit my corporate job.
And I was like, I'm going to do it.
Wow.
Yes.
That's great.
That's great.
Thank you.
That's a round of applause.
Thank you.
I want to know, too, do you have any advice for people at home that,
you know, are trying to chase their dreams like you
and make something happen for themselves like this?
Do it. You're such an inspiration. Any advice you would give to people?
Do it. Take the leap of faith. God is with you. God is always with you.
And if it was put on your heart to do so, do it.
Don't worry about the when. Don't worry about the how.
Just do it.
God will provide provision.
When I quit my job, I didn't have anything.
I didn't have a savings or anything like that.
I just said, I'm going to take this leap of faith.
Yeah.
Where do you get your inspiration for the designs and stuff?
Do you, like, look at books or does it come up in your head?
Yeah, this is stellar.
Right.
Is it something from your childhood?
Books, Pinterest.
Insta, TikTok, all those things.
But I really, really love vintage cakes.
And this was very moody and Halloween.
It wasn't your typical Halloween.
And I was like, oh my goodness, I need to do this.
And I wanted to get this deep dark plum color.
Now, we are not going to dare to try to do what you do.
Thank you.
Thank you.
But you are going to teach us a thing or two about cake decorating.
Yes, I will.
Oh, cool.
All right, so, and this is what you actually do,
too, with your sessions or events that you put on.
Yes, yep.
At My Cake and Sip Experiences, this is what we do.
But in those environments,
it includes cocktails and food and all the things.
It's a full-on experience from start to finish.
Y'all got to come through.
So we had two cakes here and what we're going
to be doing, we're going to be doing a really bold
Pathway of piping. All right. So we have our bag.
Make sure you're always holding the bag from the top.
OK. And the good thing about
this is that it can just flow organically however you want it to go.
But my advice is please make sure that you maintain
the same pressure as you're holding the bag.
OK. So I'm going to start here. OK.
So we're going to watch this one first.
All right. Make sure make sure the ridges are pointed away from you.
How are your hands so still and not shaky?
Wow.
Wow.
That is...
Okay, that's going to be a tough one.
We got this.
We got this.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Let's go.
I was going to be next up.
Why?
And you have to try it too, Marissa.
Oh, yes.
That's so cool.
No, I'm just kidding.
All right, here we go.
I'll try it.
What's the next thing?
I'll squirt one.
Okay, we can start it from this side.
So just go ahead and...
Okay, so we're turning.
Start there.
Oh, so start.
Do I need to connect it to the other?
You don't have to.
Okay, perfect.
You can let it flow however you want to,
but just start at the bottom.
Let it flow.
Yes.
Let it flow.
Okay, so here we go.
What? And what?
Yes!
Go ahead!
Yes!
Bring it on!
Good job!
So what happens if you run out of frosting?
Well if you run out of frosting
then that's pretty much it.
And I want to do that.
That would be it.
But there's always things that we can cover everything up with.
Look what you made me do.
Some accessorizing.
We have some.
You know what?
That'll make it better.
Okay, yes.
So we have a couple of things.
We have some brains.
Brains?
Yep, and we have some Grim Reapers.
Okay.
And we also have these really scary, spooky eyeballs.
I like that.
House.
All right.
All the houses.
While we're decorating, whenever we want to do it,
I have a trick-or-treat game.
Okay, let's do it.
I'm ready when you are.
All right, so it's trick-or-treat, but with a twist.
We're going to talk about some dating red and green flags.
Oh, okay.
Whether it's a trick or a treat.
Okay.
I'm good at that.
So let's begin with this.
They keep, the person you're seeing,
a detailed spreadsheet of shared expenses.
And we can start the music now for this game.
What do you all think?
Is that a trick or is it a treat?
That's a trick.
Let's go.
You said they're keeping all the expenses.
Detailed spreadsheet of shared expenses.
I mean, we need to have that.
Budgeting is key.
I was going to say, if you have a goal you're trying to achieve,
you've got to collaborate on making that happen.
You can't just be blowing money fast.
Well, I'm good at that, so.
Ooh, you're wet.
Wet.
Yeah, okay.
Don't track mine.
All right.
About this one.
Texting back within seconds each and every time you get a text.
I mean, as soon as you text.
Treat.
Treat.
Hands down.
Even in the beginning.
Yeah.
Especially in the beginning.
Yeah.
All that attention.
That's mine.
Okay.
Yeah.
Trick or treat.
I get really upset in my head.
I'm going to say that's a trick.
I'm not stopping everything to answer that text.
How long is too long to wait for a text back?
I mean, I know people that are setting the timer of,
I've got to wait an hour, and that's a little too much for me.
I think too long is, don't keep someone hanging for days.
I think that's disrespectful.
Respond in the same day.
Those are the ghosts we don't like.
I'm going to say that's a trick.
You're not tricking me with that.
No way.
You got too much free time.
You need to go get a job or a hobby or something
and stop texting me back with the
in seconds.
In seconds is crazy.
Here's another one. They are best friends with their
ex. Trick or treat?
I think that's a trick.
It depends.
It depends.
There's a level of maturity and growth and trust as well.
Yes.
If they have children, that's different, obviously.
But what if they don't?
You better not be texting mine.
What are we doing then?
No, we're not doing that.
Yeah, I think you have no reason to reach out.
What are we doing then?
We're not doing that.
Because if you're my ex, I'm on to my next, and that's it.
Okay.
We're not doing that.
That's hard.
How about planning dates without asking you first?
It's like, hey, you just show up.
I need you here.
That's a treat.
I'll take it.
I think it's a treat, too.
That's a treat.
On my schedule, my shift, you do all the planning.
That is a treat for me as well, especially
for somebody who's always the planner.
I want somebody to plan something for me.
Yes.
I'll plan for you.
And that's how you know it's real that they were intentional
and they care about showing
you essentially how much they care.
It's being thoughtful.
We all have the same thing.
So you actually, you actually did something great
that now looks really good.
I told you I was just looking at the stage.
You have to let it marinate, if you will.
Here's one more.
What else we got?
Your touch wants to spend every moment with you.
Every moment, they want to be in your presence.
That's a trick.
That's a trick.
I think it's a trick, too.
That's a trick.
Yeah.
That could be love bombing if you're not careful.
It could be love bombing.
Yep, absolutely.
All right, here's the last one.
Okay.
They don't post pictures of you on social media.
Well, I'm going to go out there
and say if they don't have social media, that's a green flag.
I don't want my person.
A green flag.
Oh, really?
If they don't have any social media, I think that's a treat.
Girl.
Okay, okay.
Because I think that if they're not trying to prove themselves.
It looks so cool.
They're not trying to prove themselves to anyone,
and they're secure of themselves.
I think it's such a green flag.
There's something to be said for that.
What do you say, Daisy?
If you have social media,
and you're posting everything else with your homeboys and all that,
but you're not posting me, we have a problem.
I agree.
You have a problem.
Oh, I don't post like that.
Yes, you do.
Yes, you do.
But if you're not on social, then that's just you.
Oh, that's something different.
Yeah, but if he's posted up at the bar with his friends
and he won't post you, you're
hiding something.
You're hiding something.
You're hiding something over there.
You're very quiet.
I don't want people in my business like that.
I'm okay if y'all post me.
Mind yours
and I mind mine.
So it doesn't matter how deep the relationship is,
like once you're official or you're dating.
I think after marriage, maybe so.
I think that's important.
But people are going to be really mean.
And messy.
And messy.
And I don't like that energy in my relationship.
You have to protect it at all costs.
Yeah, for sure.
Just recently, you know, with my engagement,
I've had hundreds of people say,
well, I didn't even know you were dating anybody.
Exactly.
I love it.
Exactly.
I love it.
The things that they can say.
But it's also feeling left out.
Right.
And feeling like, especially if you're a public figure,
that you owe it to the public to say everything.
Which I don't think is fair.
Yeah, I felt like when I got to the place where I wanted to,
I did, and I loved the look.
And that is just fine.
But everybody's different.
Everybody is different.
No one's entitled to know everything that's going on in your life.
You got to keep those private things safe.
But sometimes when you're a public figure,
sometimes people feel like, oh, yeah, well, you need to tell us this.
We need to know this because we've been following you.
No, you don't.
You know what I tell you,
but you don't need to know anything.
I'm protecting my peace.
There's a difference between privacy and secrecy at the end of the day.
I don't mind people knowing.
You're someone special in my life.
It's a fine line.
You have to determine on how much you want to share.
It's a fine line.
Congratulations on your engagement.
Thank you. We won.
People to enjoy your business and oh, wow, I did not see.
Out of here, Al, you read it.
Oh my goodness, it says, he who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the Lord.
Proverbs 18:22.
Oh, thank you so much.
And that's the scripture.
I saw that you posted it.
That we live by and trust.
I saw it and I was like, I'm putting that on her thing.
Oh, thank you.
You are so welcome.
And it's pink.
And it's pink.
Come on, keep waiting.
And he's a, and he's a.
Okay, now.
Yeah.
Where can people hit you up
to maybe come to one of your events
or get some cakes?
Yes.
Please follow us on Instagram
at Daisy Baited.
We have cake and sip experiences
every weekend,
and we also host private events,
so Girls' Nights,
Bachelorette,
all of the things.
Private events.
But we also take custom quarters, too.
And you all are just putting icing on cakes, right?
I just want to make sure I understand.
You can put icing on me any day.
I'll say,
some of our themes
might involve something like that.
You never know.
Well, Daisy, thank you so much for coming.
Thank you so much for having me.
You were a blast.
I've laughed so hard.
I've laughed the wig halfway off.
I mean, you're going to be cutting up.
Cutting up.
Yes.
All right, well, still to come, we're going to keep the sweets coming,
and we're going to talk about which Halloween treat is the best.
Think about your favorites and who claimed the top spot.
Which candy claimed it?
That's coming up after this.
He's ******* up and I'ma put you down.
I have to say, this whole day has been a burst of joy.
I've so enjoyed you.
But for this segment, since it is called A Burst of Joy,
we're going to keep things sweet with what the best Halloween candy is.
Get this.
America's most popular candy is, drumroll.
Can I get a drumroll, please?
In the bridge...
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
I'm not surprised.
I'm not surprised by this one.
This is according to Instacart.
My favorite.
2026 report, Reese's was the most bought candy in 40 states.
Also, MDC, chocolate dominating the rest of the top 10 rankings.
Some of those candies included M&M's, Snickers, and Kit Kat.
The candy that got bumped off the top 10 was Milky Way.
I never liked Milky Way.
It's the nougat.
I don't want to throw those away.
I don't like this survey.
Candycorn?
Absolutely not.
Goodbye.
No, I'm Candy corn.
Baby, that's sugar brown.
Candycorn is an abomination.
We can't do that.
What?
It's a mess of, like, candy corn.
People get big mad for candy corn.
I think candy corn...
It's just sugar.
It should be just in one of these little decorative bowls,
and that's where it should stay.
That's the stay away.
Off with your hands.
Off with your hands.
So, what are your favorite candies, though?
Candy corn.
Is that your actual favorite?
I like it for Halloween, for sure.
I like the traditional, like, the Kit Kats and the Snickers.
Snickers for me.
When I got a Snickers when I was...
Trick-or-treating, that means they had good candy.
Right.
So I was at that door.
You always go to that house.
I thought that way about Kit Kats, actually.
If I could get a Kit Kat every, you know,
a couple houses, I feel like I'm on the lottery.
And then I had the bartering power for later.
Oh, that's true.
To try maybe some other things.
You know what I hated growing up, but I love them now?
Twizzlers.
I did not like Twizzlers.
What was your favorite?
I don't like Twizzlers.
What?
She said not Twizzlers?
You are not American.
Reese's are my all-time favorite.
Reese's and Snickers.
Reese's?
Yeah, Reese's.
Chocolate and peanut butter is the best combo ever.
Oh, that's what you like.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
It's number one.
It is so good.
People in 40 other states agree with you, so.
I know, I know.
We'll be right back with a tad bit more fun
and a preview of Monday's show.
Keep it locked.
Well, it has been a Friday for the books.
The first Halloween show for the Marissa Mitchell Show.
And Monday, we're going to have some
more things coming up on the program.
So get ready to strut your stuff because runway coach Diva Davana,
she's going to be live in studio to dish about
her modeling and etiquette school
and also her time on America's Next Top Model.
See if she can teach me how to sway.
Sashay.
Sashay.
We're going to talk fashion with founder
of KS Boutique, Kamisha Spriggs.
