It is a race to Election Day.
Early voting has officially ended,
and the candidates for governor will be busy this weekend
making their closing arguments to voters.
Tonight, former Vice President Kamala Harris
joined Democrat governor-candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms
in Fulton County.
Republican Rick Jackson campaigned in Smyrna,
and that is where we find Fox 5's Rob DiRienzo
on the campaign trail tonight.
Rob?
Hey there, Courtney. Well, Adventure Outdoors here behind me
is a pretty popular spot for
Republican candidates. Rick Jackson told the crowd
this could be one of his last big rallies
before Election Day. Meanwhile,
as he mentioned just down the road, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha
Lance Bottoms was with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
The next governor of the great state of Georgia, Rick Jackson.
One final sprint till Tuesday with early voting come and gone.
Republican candidate for governor Rick Jackson spent
his Friday night in Cobb County.
Let's build on Brian Kemp's legacy and win big for Georgia.
The Republicans brought in Congressman Jim Jordan
to Adventure Outdoor in Smyrna,
along with candidates in the state's other big races,
from lieutenant governor to insurance commissioner.
Jackson's refrain to the crowd was this knock at his opponent.
Bad mayors don't make good governors.
Down I-75, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha
Lance Bottoms spent the night with former
Vice President Kamala Harris at the Fulton County Dems' dinner.
Metro Atlanta has great energy,
but you should see the rest of Georgia. It is on fire.
The power belongs to the people.
And in just four days, you will prove that truth once again.
Jackson, who's a billionaire,
has spent $220 million on this race, 75% of that on TV ads.
It is not my money. It is God's money.
But the latest polls show the race is essentially deadlocked.
While some Republicans have been worried about early voter turnout,
Nancy Hollingshead isn't one of them.
She says the GOP shows up on Election Day.
I don't see the turnout problem as much
as a lot of people keep trying to tell me.
I tell some of my friends, you look at data so bad,
you're going to have a heart attack.
Just have faith.
And this weekend, the plan for former Mayor Bottoms
is to focus her efforts on middle and southern Georgia.
Meanwhile, Rick Jackson will hold one last campaign rally on Sunday
night in Cumming before the big day, of course, coming up on Tuesday.
Live here in Cobb County, Rob DiRienzo, Fox 5 News.
Yeah, a lot of money spent, a lot of time spent.
It all comes down to Tuesday.
It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Rob, thanks.
