Love to see the whole Dunwoody band in costume tonight.
It's Halloween after all.
Huge game tonight against former UGA quarterback Quincy Carter.
And Heritage High School,
the defenses were so good in this one, especially early.
Jack Gravis for Dunwoody here takes the direct snap.
For the Wildcats, it's a nice gain,
but this drive would not turn into points.
Still scoreless, going the other direction.
Heritage finally getting something going,
and it came via the ground game.
Joshua Taylor pushing past tacklers.
First down moves the six.
Down inside the 10, it was Taylor again in for the score.
That was the only touchdown of the first half.
Heritage will go on to pick up the big win.
What a night.
The season they are having with Coach Carter, 27 to 7, the final.
I'm on Halloween,
the spookiest night
in sports.
Because while everybody's handing out candy,
we're passing out playoff spots.
So grab a costume and a candy bar.
The regular season has just two weeks left.
But don't be afraid.
Trick or treat.
Oh, and what are you dressed up as?
I'm in your face.
Ugh!
It's horrible.
We got a great show for you tonight.
There was no dressing up for these dragons.
Chopper, the best way to go trick-or-treating,
and it could be a two-decade-long wait ending in our Game of the Week.
You know what time it is.
What's your favorite scary movie?
High Five Sports is in your ghost phase.
We got a Cobb County showdown.
It was Harrison and McEachern.
And it was a little bit of trick, a little bit of treat,
but it was trickeration for the Hoyas early in this one.
Watch this swing pass to the right.
It's a double pass.
Ended up being reeled in by Parker Perkins inside the five-yard line.
Would set up a touchdown.
Harrison out front.
McEachern would respond.
Tied.
Nolan, watch this.
Looks like he's gobbled up in the backfield.
Uh-uh.
Down the sideline.
Long touchdown.
And McEachern takes the lead right back.
A little later, it was Ty Nolan again, finding the end zone again.
And McEachern wins this one, 29-13.
I think the bands were really bringing it tonight
on the costumes above all else.
Love it.
Banneker hosting Southwest DeKalb for the home team.
Watch this.
This is one of the plays of the entire night.
Tyler Fletcher going to go deep to Jaden Lambert.
Okay, we've got to watch this touchdown again
in slow motion, if you don't mind.
Jaden Lambert, an incredible grab for Banneker.
Well, Southwest DeKalb would respond, though.
Braylon Carter here going to hit Zion Pruitt, a great catch of his own,
as Southwest goes on to pick up the win, 29-14.
Well, what could be scarier on Halloween than a rampaging
Unstoppable Wolfpack,
that's what we've got in our game call of the week tonight.
North Paulding, perfect in region play
with just two weeks to go in the regular season.
A win tonight over Cherokee, and the North Paulding has a region title.
680 to the fans, Doug Conkle and Brandon Joseph on the call.
Emily Wisniewski behind the lens in our call of the week.
Last night before Halloween, but no one here in Canton is scared
as the fans have gathered to take in the Class 7 Region 5
bout between the North Paulding Wolfpack and the Cherokee Warriors.
All right, quarterback back in the shotguns, got a man in motion,
he stops, hands the ball off around the right side.
No, he doesn't, he keeps. That's a touchdown.
This time it's a throw out to Niebuhr on the left-hand side, catches it
at the 35, across the 30, down across the 20, to the 10, to the 5.
That's waiting for the signal.
That's a touchdown, I believe, Brandon.
Yes, that's going to be six for the Wolfpack again.
Just absolutely scalding Cherokee tonight.
Team now for Cherokee.
Here's the staff quarterback back.
He gets nailed in the backfield.
Number 34 comes up for Paulding.
A second and two, but also three yards from the end zone.
Throwing the ball across the middle and into the hands of a receiver
is a very easy pitch and catch for the third touchdown of the night.
Here we are, a man in motion, quarterback takes a snap,
scrambling around to his left,
he's under a lot of pressure,
he's going to go down inside the 10-yard line, big sack
that time for North Paulding, Bryson near again,
Hunter gets the ball, and they got
it, they got a hand on the ball,
it's bouncing around the 20-yard line, out to the 25, it's
29 is knocked out, a bound right there to the 24-yard line.
They did what they wanted to do.
They got the block they hoped to get in this little practice session.
So that field goal is going to end the first half.
It's going to make it 38-0 here in Canton.
North Paulding over Cherokee on 68 to the fan,
an extra 106.3 is Friday Night Football Game of the Week.
And you heard the halftime score.
The domination will continue.
Former High Five Sports Team of the Week, North Paulding, wins big.
41-0.
We'll keep it going.
East side heading out to take on Stockbridge.
Eagles defense was making a play in this one.
Check this out.
Could be dropping back to pass, but for east side, it's Cody Reed.
Leaping up for the interception,
turning this around in the other direction.
Later, though, Stockbridge will get the ball back.
This more, that was a little swag surf there in costume, by the way.
This more what they were thinking.
Josh Scott, the quarterback, going to go 75 yards for the score.
Last check in this one, last score update we got.
Stockbridge up 21 to nothing in the second half.
How about Mill Creek?
The Hawks taking on the Collins Hill Eagles.
It was senior night.
Love it, getting the family together,
and tonight was a good memory for them.
This is Kevin Lopez right here, hitting the field goal,
putting the Hawks up early, three to nothing.
There were a lot of sevens in this game, by the way,
not just threes.
This one is Kevin Hughes, bulldozing his way in,
three yards out for a Hawks touchdown.
Collins Hill, though, would answer right back.
This is McCree cross to Sherrod Simmons,
MacKyrie cross, excuse me, to Sherrod Simmons,
diving into the end zone for the Eagles' score.
Collins Hill, this was one of the games of the night.
They win a thriller.
42 to 34.
Take a deep breath.
We've got so much more still coming
your way on Haunted High Five Sports.
We'll head to Athens, check in with our team of the week,
and how about Rockmart High School looking tonight
for a decade's worth of region titles in a row.
How's that possible?
Highlights are next, plus Lexi Bowden at our game of the week.
LaGrange trying to punch their ticket
to their first region title since 2006.
But the six and two Griffin Bears stand in their way.
We'll let you know what happens next in our game of the week.
Mr. Poly Pants
at Netherworld and High Five
sports is in your face.
Well, that was scary, but nothing creepy about Jefferson tonight.
Beautiful night taking on North Oconee.
This is Max Brown.
Yes, Sammy Brown's younger brother, the linebacker at Clemson.
Two-yard score.
Jefferson up six to nothing.
We'll go to the second quarter now.
This is courtesy of our friends at Blitz, by the way.
Oliver Buckley.
This 45-yard field goal.
Do you see that?
It bounced off the crossbar.
Good.
Stripped by about three inches there.
Made it 6-3.
But Jefferson had more.
Boone Horn.
Austin Kitching's 40-yard touchdown as Jefferson takes this one.
27-17.
Well, Rockmart High School's region title streak
is almost old enough that people will start asking,
is that region title streak too old to be trick-or-treating?
The Yellow Jackets have won nine consecutive region titles.
A win tonight against Lafayette would make it an even 10.
It was an in-your-face kind of evening.
A pumped-up crowd.
Cat in the hat.
That's great.
Every costume I enjoy.
First quarter, Rockmart already up 7-0.
Devin McCoy, how about make it 14-0.
Lafayette, though, hey, maybe they're underdogs,
but they're having a real good season.
Bryson Penson, five-yard touchdown.
It's just 14-7.
But then Rockmart from there kicking it into high gear.
Quarterback Charlie Cannon.
Plows in for a score, and Cannon doing it with his arm as well,
throwing a touchdown pass here to Madden Jones.
Rockmart takes it 56-10, 10th straight region title
under first-year head coach Rich Fenley getting this one.
I've only been a part of one of them,
just to clarify that and be honest, but it feels special.
Very proud of our seniors
to leave it one step better than they found it.
We talked about that all week.
Ten in a row is amazing because I told our staff today
that I've only been a part of ten in my 32-year career.
So they've won more in a row here than
I've won in 32 years of coaching.
So special for the community, special for the past players, and special
for setting the standard for the future players that are coming.
Special indeed. Also special
to get some high school football highlights from a helicopter Friday
night heights above Denmark High School hosting North Forsyth.
No score in the first quarter for North Forsyth.
Jackson Hall right here. You see the whole develop up the middle
and he's off running down the numbers.
48 yard touchdown for the Raiders. More here from Noah.
This is Noah Bork, the quarterback going to keep it himself.
Long run, it looks like he might go, but they catch him,
they would score on the next play, don't worry, they're on top,
Denmark would make this a comeback, Evan Jones to Jacob Juric,
watch this catch, how cool is that, to see from the helicopter,
Denmark Danes pick up the win, 32-27, how about Blessed Trinity,
just a dominant regular season, they're trying to finish strong,
and boy did they tonight, taking on Chattahoochee,
Titans already up 14-0, Ty Page here, swinging it to Quinn Smith,
It gets it around the 35-yard line
and makes it look easy down the sideline.
21-0, Blessed Trinity, and they would just keep pouring it on.
Tough to get a number on this one.
I think it's Darren Bruce.
I know it's a touchdown.
Blessed Trinity takes it 70-7.
We can just call Cartersville the zombie Purple Hurricanes
because this season they just keep coming.
Cartersville, a win away from a fourth consecutive region title.
Been a nightmare for opponents,
scored 48 or more in every game and pitched five shutouts.
Tough opponent tonight in Dalton coming in at 7-1 on the season.
It's Chris Pruitt leading the Catamounts.
Trying to shock the state against a Cartersville team
that has just looked unstoppable.
But look out for those catamounts.
90 seconds into the game, Cain Woods, Akeem Cox.
Touchdown, Dalton is in front.
And then Cartersville, they scored a couple.
All right, so Dalton, they're just going to roll over.
Right, no, wrong.
It's Woods going to keep it himself.
36-yard touchdown.
They're back within a score.
But Cartersville, their Halloween costume is Thanos
because they are inevitable.
Harris Turner to Maddox Davis.
And look at the moves in the open field.
Cartersville, another win for them there.
Good, 53-14.
The Walnut Grove Warriors were taking on the Mountain View Bears.
Tonight, in this one, it's gonna be Julian Cease
right here, taking the handoff,
hitting the corner, in for six.
For the Warriors, that just gives you
that in-your-face Halloween feeling, doesn't it?
We appreciate it, everybody working the gate up there.
Here's Huston Fowler faking the handoff,
fakes out the photographer a little, that's okay.
Finds Billy Hendricks, corner of the end zone,
another Warrior touchdown, even the officials getting in-your-face.
Then it's Zion Butler going to keep the rock,
dash into the end zone for a Bears touchdown,
but it was Walnut Grove in this one getting the dub.
40-27.
We've got more in-your-face action coming your way on High Five Sports.
We'll head back to the south side,
check on a swarm of haunted hornets, if you will.
And our game of the week features a pair of teams looking to trick
or treat their way to a region title.
It's Halloween.
All this talk about ghosts and ghouls,
but we've always got time for a unicorn.
What's going on? It's Kyle Pitts here with the Atlanta Falcons.
High Five Sports
is in your face.
The High Five Sports Game of the Week
is brought to you by Motley Injury Attorneys.
Our Game of the Week teams were going through
their closets considering their costumes
because only one can dress up for Halloween as a region champion.
LaGrange High School actually finishes their regular season tonight.
If they do it with a win, they'll cap a perfect run in region play.
Across the field, the Griffin Bears need a win tonight
and one in their finale to claim the crown.
Lexi Bowden and Stu Blaine coming at our Game of the Week.
Tim, hit it.
We're proud of y'all. You've done really well this year.
My father-in-law was the coach here
and we love the tradition of LaGrange. He was such an institution.
I'm put on for my city tonight. Yeah, it gonna mean a lot.
We had a reason to jump in the minutes. You got a reason to be tight.
You got a reason to be scared. To win a region championship.
Here's your opportunity. Don't let it slip away.
Break it down. More than just bragging rights tonight.
A rivalry that goes back to 1922.
Griffin leading all time 28 to 25 to 1.
But a win for LaGrange would mean their first
First region title since 2006 didn't take long
for the Grangers to show just how hungry they were.
First drive and just over three minutes into the first
quarter running back D'Anthony Stewart with a big run around
the outside into the end zone and they're up seven nothing.
LaGrange capitalized on their next drive as well.
This time it's Peyton Davis showing off
the legs taking it to the house.
The extra point is missed but still all Grangers 13 nothing.
The Bears trying to get something going, but the snap is fumbled
and recovered by the Grangers at the Bears' 35-yard line.
Then it's Davis again, this time a 20-yard carry into the end zone.
The two-point try isn't good,
but the Grangers up 19-0 still in the first quarter.
And LaGrange didn't stop with the pressure despite the big lead.
Another TD from Davis.
That made it 33-0
and the Grangers go into the locker room at halftime up 43-7.
And the offense kept it rolling in the second quarter.
Defense doing their part as well.
50-13 the final.
History made for LaGrange tonight.
Good night.
Second title on the line, you put up 50 points on Griffin,
43 of them coming in the first half.
Just what did you like about the way
these guys started the game tonight?
Well, the week of practice, that's why we're able to come out
and do something like that in front of this great crowd.
The guys execute every day at practice,
work their tail off, and it's truly a team game.
Our guys on the scout team are working
their tail off every day to give these guys on the field
a chance to be able to perform like they did tonight.
So we're really proud of them,
and it's just an unbelievable opportunity.
I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
for this opportunity to coach these
young men.
I've been blessed to have this job, and I would be nowhere without him.
And I'll bring it over to you now.
Just a complete team effort.
I mean, the offense, so many touchdowns in the first half.
You had the pick six from Stewart as well.
Just what does this group of guys mean to you?
We got a very special guys, man.
These guys are very talented, everybody.
Everybody has a role that they play, and they play it very well.
What does it mean to be on the team that gets it done,
the region title for the first time since 2006?
I love it.
I love it.
Definitely since being a sophomore starting,
they just wanted the goals that we always wanted to accomplish,
and we finally did.
All right.
I hope you guys have enough room
for two pieces of hardware tonight
as you are our High Five Game Week winner.
First region title in 20 years.
Great stuff from Lexi Bowden.
Let's go to the south side.
Hampton and Woodland Stockbridge rock and roll.
I'm seeing some costumes there.
Love it.
Woodland here.
Going to take the lead.
This is Jordan Gwynn.
Going to look for Josiah Johnson.
Real in the past.
Then make a couple moves.
Cut back inside.
Cut back again.
That made it 21-14.
Hornets, though, not done.
Not going to go quietly.
Kamari Dorsey going to take the ensuing kickoff.
85 yards for the score.
And that was big as Hampton would come back.
A lot of points down the stretch.
They win it.
41-34.
South Cobb making some music this evening
and putting together a harmonious, melodious season
as they try to keep it going against Hiram Hornets.
We're trying to push the ball down the field,
but South Cobb's James Genu going to leap up,
spill in the interception, and the windmill celebration.
Which way are we going?
Yeah, we're going that way, and here come the Eagles.
Freedom Jones, a quarterback, going to keep it himself
and pull away from the defense.
That made it 27-7.
South Cobb winners tonight.
41-14.
All right, not done yet on Halloween High Five Sports.
More highlights still coming your way.
And we head to Athens to hear from a very deserving team
of the week, High Five Sports.
Kind of makes you want to howl at the moon, doesn't it?
The High Five Sports Team of the Week
is brought to you by Montlake Injury Attorneys.
The Clark Central Gladiators.
Congratulations to our High Five Sports Team of the Week.
Clark Central, the Gladiators, their cheerleaders, and everybody.
They brought the spirit live Thursday morning with Paul Milligan.
On Good Day Atlanta, Clark Central came
into the night on a five-game winning streak.
Head coach Dave Perno's team, they have been so good.
They were 500 a season ago.
Seven wins already this year.
Clark Central, however, they would fall tonight
in a big-time matchup against Jackson County, 33-17.
How about we keep it going?
Second year, the band trying to motivate their team.
The Jaguars hosting Dekula.
The Falcons, though, had the offense moving.
This is quarterback R.J. Perry keeping it, running it in for six.
Second year's defense, they were playing hard,
looking for that first win of the year.
A strip sack right here would end up stalling this drive,
forcing a field goal, but Dekula did enough
to get the win at 38 to 14.
And what would Halloween be without an inspirational story?
Nope, no spooky puns this time.
It's just a true tale of comeback,
resilience of Douglas High School player,
senior safety Travis Isaacs.
January 8th, 2024, his older brother Cameron
was driving him and his younger brother Gabriel
to see their new baby sister.
The car though, it hydroplaned, hit multiple trees.
One of them went through the car,
How
to
Embrace
What I've been through and I want people to know like how to embrace
also what they've been through and don't let anything discourage you
from what you really want to do. What you dream of and your goals,
keep chasing it because you never know.
God has a plan for you and he had a plan for me.
That's why he kept me here.
Yeah, it's all fun and games on Halloween.
We look forward, though, to seeing Travis play on the next level.
What a great story.
All right, that's it for us on Halloween.
High five tonight.
Enjoy the spooky fun tomorrow.
Be safe out there.
And has anybody seen our director, Leslie?
She's usually here on Fridays, but tonight there's no sign of her.
It's the kind of situation that can only happen
on a certain holiday on Halloween.
It's kind of strange, don't you think?
Please tell me where you are.
Oh, that's good, that's good.
Why?
