While President Trump's visit is aimed at rallying Republican support,
Democrats are also making an attempt
to swing voters to the other side of the aisle.
Chris Lindsey picks up our team coverage now.
He's live among the crowds in Daytona Beach.
And Chris, you spotted some Democrats making pitches
to voters in line there behind you.
Yes, it's more than likely that the people who are out here in line
waiting to hear the president speak have made up their minds about
who they're voting for, but on the off chance they haven't,
some Democrats were out here speaking with people trying
to explain why their candidates are the better choices.
I heard from a congressional candidate himself
who says he's looking to bridge the gap.
Democratic leaders from Volusia County and beyond
took to the podium ahead of President Trump's rally
to speak out against the Republican Party.
This is a last-ditch effort
to prop up Republican campaigns that are flailing.
But no pep rally changes what Floridians live with
every single day.
And the message they believe the president is looking to send
as people head to the polls.
He's going to continue to lie to the people of America
about how wonderful everything is.
How strong this economy is.
How successful their leadership has been.
How Florida is supposedly working for everybody.
Early voting across the state ends today in some places
and tomorrow in others.
With election day nearly here, U.S. congressional candidate Bill Dalton
is hoping to bridge the gap between Republicans and Democrats.
We're fighting against this health care crisis
of a lack of affordability and a lack of accessibility.
And we're fighting against corruption and graft.
You know, too many people have treated going
to Congress like some sort of get rich quick scheme
Dalton spent the afternoon speaking with Trump supporters in Daytona.
He showed up to the Ocean Center to talk
to the crowd lining up waiting to see the president.
I'm very excited about getting to work
so that we can start solving these problems
that are causing our Central Florida families to suffer
so much over these last couple years.
Dalton's putting his bid
in for the 7th Congressional District, which covers part
of Volusia County and all of Seminole.
He's running against Republican candidate Ryan Elijah and
Libertarian candidate Christopher Denison.
And if you're out in Daytona Beach,
particularly near North Atlantic Avenue,
you should be mindful there's much more
traffic than you're accustomed to,
as most of the streets in the area near
the Ocean Center have been shut down for the time being.
They'll stay that way until late tonight.
Reporting live in Daytona Beach, Chris Lindsey, Fox 35 News.
