An Orange County deputy, a coach,
and theme park employees all arrested in a human trafficking sting.
A total of 281 people were arrested in this operation in Polk County.
Marie Ettinger has more.
The operation resulted in hundreds of arrests,
not just in Polk County and not just in Central Florida,
but all over the state and even out of state, too.
17 people who work at local theme parks
and resorts are facing charges from Operation
Polk Around and Find Out 2. And who led the way?
Disney. Disney had 13, Universal had four.
Those arrested accused of preying on children include
a ride operator for the Slinky Dog
roller coaster who showed up still in uniform.
I think he was a Slinky Dog myself. I'm on the
ground. I'm on the ground. And there was a worker
from the Roundup Rodeo restaurant in Toy Story
Land. There was also a former Mickey Mouse impersonator.
He had the high squeaky voice too,
by the way. And he may be the sickest,
nastiest person we've ever arrested.
Yep, that's correct. He was into diapers.
In a single week, this operation caught 31 people allegedly traveling
to meet children for sex
and 117 accused of trying to meet prostitutes.
In that latter category
was Orange County School Resource Deputy Eric Raymond.
Oh, you're in Canada?
His arrest report states he told deputies he
noticed what he thought might be undercover
cops in the neighborhood, had a funny feeling about it,
but was having a hard time in his
marriage. So he proceeded on anyway. You're a law enforcement officer,
and people expect more of you. Nine people arrested have been caught
in other stings before.
Two of them from the original version of this same sting
conducted earlier this year. When that is what is exciting and
interesting to them, then that person is demented
and is a very big danger to society.
