We are in a really cool year.
I'm not sure which would be the most stunning.
Like if I put this up on the screen,
which is the most stunning in your opinion?
Indiana was 150 to one
when we started the college football year last year.
And Indiana went and became the national champs in college football.
Seattle, led by Sam Darnold.
Was 60-1 at one point to win the Super Bowl when they went
and beat the Patriots last February in San Francisco to win it all.
The Brewers, last night,
come in at 30-1 preseason odds to win the World Series.
And given the dominance of the Dodgers, back-to-back champs,
and Milwaukee being the smallest metropolitan market
to ever win a World Series, that has to be considered.
The Wolverines had been good,
but it had been about 20 years since Michigan won anything
in the New York Knicks at 22 to one.
I mean, the Knicks improbable, impossible,
amazing season for the New York Knicks.
But we are in right now a really wild situation.
I mean, long shots on long shots on long shots.
We are far away from the days of the Dodgers and the Yankees
and just domination by the big markets.
I mean, Indiana being your defending champ is crazy enough.
The New York Knicks, you could say, Matt, that's New York.
Yeah, but the Knicks have been a laughingstock under James Dolan.
I mean, even in the wake of the championship, they keep on screwing up.
Like, I mean, think about it.
The Knicks gave empty boxes to their coaches.
They sent a phishing email to their employees claiming they
were going to get a ring if
they clicked on which one they wanted.
And then they had to go up here in a cybersecurity class
because they clicked on it.
Like, the Knicks, they are still a clown show.
Like, regardless, they are still the Knicks.
They won a championship, but despite James Dolan, not because.
And so you have these improbable runs to championships.
Team USA won gold in hockey, beating Canada.
Like, we didn't see that coming.
We've seen, I mean, the Hurricanes,
what's crazy about this is that the Carolina Hurricanes,
the Hartford Whalers, I will always hate that franchise.
I will always hate the Carolina Panthers,
sorry, the Carolina Hurricanes, because they
are the Hartford Whalers to me.
You can go to red and black.
They are still green and white to me, okay?
I don't move it.
It doesn't matter.
It's the same franchise.
They have the shortest odds,
and that's still kind of a crazy thing because, well, it's
Carolina.
It's not a hockey hotbed, really.
It's not this, you know, surefire dominant franchise.
It's the Hartford Whalers, for goodness sakes.
And they were eight and a half to one to win it all.
They were one of the odds on favorites to win the cup.
And then they went and won the cup.
But other than that,
our recent run of champions is something to behold.
It's pretty darn cool.
I mean, Milwaukee, I mean, in terms of history in just baseball.
Longest odds for champions.
The 23 Rangers were 50-1,
the 2015 Royals were 33-1, and the 26 Brewers 30-1.
As longer shots to come
and win the most profitable World Series champions based on
a hundred buck bet the '05 White Sox
the 18 Red Sox and the 15 Royals and then the Brewers
this past year coming in. I one of those people that had a ticket.
I bought it at Hard Rock in
Florida. So I'm part of the people that were able to be profitable.
Thanks to the Milwaukee
Brewers winning last night,
but I think what's wild from a baseball perspective.
Is that this franchise, which became a franchise in 1970,
made the World Series in 82, lost it, wins their first championship.
I mean, the folks in Milwaukee are a very cool bunch.
And I think what's neat for me, because I know a lot of them,
Nebraskans, Iowans, Wisconsin people, where.
They're just salt of the earth people that they love sports.
They love their teams.
And so often they don't win.
Like one of the cool things about being,
you know, in my industry, being in radio for as
long as I have been, I was able to bounce around
and experience a lot of cool things.
I loved my time in the South.
I loved my time in the Midwest.
These people drink alcohol, beer, light beer,
namely like Bush Light and Miller Light.
They drink it like it's water and they go down to these places.
They go on bowl trips when Wisconsin goes on a bowl trip
or Iowa goes on a bowl trip.
They go to these places and they drink the town dry.
And I'm guessing last night in Tampa,
they ran out of Miller Lite in that city because
the entire market, I mean, did you see the shots?
I should have put it up.
I'm sorry.
But the shots of the Bucks game from two nights ago, nobody was there.
And nobody was there.
They were all at home
or they were at the ballpark watching the game on a screen.
