Volkanovski Eyes Gaethje for a Final UFC Superfight

We talked about this last week going into the fight. And, you know, greatest ever and all that. All that stuff gets tossed around very loosely. But Volkanovski really is one of the best ever. I'm not, oh, he's better than that guy, better than this guy. No, but when you look back on it, he has been one of their best champions in UFC history. He's willing to fight anybody. He's willing to fight in different weight classes. Like, a lot of, you know, my problem with a lot of the modern fighters is they'll win a big fight and they won't want to fight again after, right? If they get the championship, like, it used to be, whatever, you're the champion, good for you, so what? You got to fight three times a year. No, it doesn't matter. Like, you don't get to just, like, go away for two years because you're the champ. Like, the UFC and MMA became boxing, right? That used to be the beef with boxing. That the champions never fight, they fight every year or two, and they handpick who they want to fight, and they avoid the top contenders. That's basically what we've gotten to in the UFC, kind of, right now. But Volk's not that guy. So, he's looking for a big fight on the way out right now, as he's not getting any younger, he's seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, he doesn't want to do this forever, he wants to walk out on top, he's 38 years old. He's not ready to retire just yet, but he wants like a big time fight, fight, right? And no disrespect to, you know, to Diego Lopez of the world and stuff like, so he's, he wants to fight Justin Gaethje and it's interesting because as I just talked about, Gaethje's a badass and one of the toughest dudes ever and all that, but I don't think, yeah, I don't think he wants to fight Du Plessis again, right? I think that Gaethje knows I got Du Plessis on a bad day and I'm not going to beat him like this time. Right? Like, that's how I feel about it. You got him. You deserved it. It was at the White House. Whatever happened with De Pore that night, it happened. It is what it is. But De Pore was a 5-1 favorite and would basically is like, would be like a 4-1 favorite this time around. It would be the same thing over and I don't think Gaethje wants to tarnish his win. So, I can see him wanting Volkanovski if he's going to figure out, well, Volk's not that big. So, yeah, this is a better fight for me. Hey, so I'm interested to see what direction.
