Glendale school holds Halloween Read-A-Thon

Hey guys, we are talking Halloween all with a literary twist. So we have the headmaster, DeStefano, here. Thank you so much for joining us. Oh, it's our pleasure. Thank you so much for joining us. Or shall I say, I said headmaster, DeStefano, but maybe I should say Mary Poppins. Tell us a little bit about the read-a-thon and what's happening today. Sure. It's a tradition that we've had at our school the last 14 years where students come dressed as their favorite literary or historical figure. and it's a day filled with reading where our seniors from our sister school come and read to our students parent volunteers read students read we play reading games just read read read and celebrate the beauty of books through the day and have fun with the costumes too speaking of the costumes it's been so fun to even walk through the hallways and see everyone dressed up what's your favorite part about this day my favorite part is seeing well there's it's hard to pick one I love seeing children truly delight in literature and their enthusiasm leading up to the day that they're for weeks talking about who's your favorite literary character who do you want to dress up as and then seeing that come to life and also just seeing children delight in in reading all day long all right and can you share with us your name and what grade you're in Gwendolyn and third grade okay eastern and in fifth grade fifth grade okay love your guys's costumes tell us what you are and why you wanted to dress up like that i'm cloudy with a chance of meatballs and i couldn't decide because um it was getting too close so and my mom came up with this idea to just do my brother's costume and uh and well you look fabulous i love your costume costume too and then you're just really fast i'm an oompa loompa and the reason i chose it is because i just love watching charlie and the chocolate factory and i've loved just been seeing them move and talk and stuff oh you look fabulous you look straight out of the movie thank you all just so much for joining us i'll send it back to you
