Welcome back. Welcome back.
Halloween at the station is back with two events
this weekend for families to dress up and trick-or-treat.
Eric Davis from Ford Philanthropy is here with the details.
We were talking a little bit in the commercial break, and this is,
I think, going to be one of those Halloween events that the folks
were talking about forever and a place where real family memories
are made because you have so many different things you're doing.
That's right. That's right. So we had a Halloween party
at the train station last year and we had a great turnout.
And, you know, the kids were having so much fun and the smiles
and the eyes when they see the costumes. It was amazing. So we thought,
let's let's do it again this year and let's do it even bigger.
So on the Saturday from 10 to 4,
we're going to have Halloween at the station.
There's going to be Trunk or Treat.
The Trunk or Treat happens from noon to 2.
We're going to have dozens of vehicles out there.
They're going to be decorated.
They're going to be passing out candy.
We're going to have activations in the station this year.
Last year, it was all outside.
This year, we're opening up the train station.
We're going to have face painting.
We're going to have mask building.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
Going to be a lot of fun.
And you literally named all the things that parents would want to do.
This is not really what you can get.
I mean, just look how cool that looks.
This is not something you can get
if you're just going door to door in your neighborhood.
It's a way to do it safely.
That's right.
For parents, wink, wink, there's a beginning and an end.
That's right.
And you won't be out there endlessly.
That's right.
And the weather's going to cooperate this year, too.
It's supposed to be a beautiful day on Saturday.
We're doing it during the day this year.
Again, the event starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 4.
And so we're going to have hopefully sunshine, hopefully warm weather.
And for those that decide that they still want to go out and knock
doors in the evening, you'll have time to go and do that as well.
And this is a way, you know, when you talk about Ford philanthropy,
it is a way to give back because it's the gift of safety.
It's the gift of community.
It's, you know, the ability to come down at the beautiful,
beautiful train station and have a good time.
It's really an opportunity for the Ford Philanthropy
and the team at Michigan Central to come together
and do something on behalf and with community.
And to your point, it's just a phenomenal place to be and the fact
that we'll have so many of our neighbors there.
we actually have organizations that will
be participating in decorating cars like
Detroit Pal will be out there
and other nonprofit organizations we've got
Bob Maxie Ford that's gonna be decorating a car so really folks from
all over the community that would be coming
and participating as a part of
this and really it is a community celebration
and that's on Saturday the
Halloween party but then on Sunday we're also celebrating Dia de los
Muertos at the train station as well
so really two days of celebratory two days
celebration and what does that one include
that one is uh it's going to be a lot of you know
cultural focused activities uh there's
also going to be a music performance so just a whole another
day of fun okay now i don't want to upset the people
and turn them away from your event but
i have to ask you a question what is the best halloween candy
so my kids would tell me i am
absolutely wrong about this but i can't pass up
a bowl of candy corn yes look at my nails have you
seen oh yes welcome to the family
that was the right answer candy corn it's really the only
answer yeah after that we will we will allow
the Reese's pumpkin i can't turn down some
chocolate so yeah let's bring the chocolate
but the candy corn my man will be plenty there will
be plenty this weekend.
So please come bring a bag and plan on leaving with all kinds of good
sweet treats. And for the haters, you know,
they don't have to take the candy corn, but just to
know that you're in the presence
of delicious candy sometimes is just enough to lift your
spirits a little bit. Very good. Very good.
We had that information on the screen. We'll also
put a link on our website, fox2detroit.com. We'll be right back.
