AI GeneratedGerald Rose of the organization New Order discusses the case of Tyler Tice, a young man with ADHD who was wrongfully arrested and tased in Center Line. Rose condemns the police conduct and the prosecutor's decision to refile charges despite a lack of probable cause, calling for the officers to be fired and for Tice to be fully exonerated.
While we have time, I do want to get to Gerald Rose with New Order.
So let's get to Gerald right now.
Gerald, how are you doing?
Hey, thank you for joining us.
So we had talked about Tyler Tice's case,
and we know that you're with New Order down in Atlanta, Georgia.
You spoke with Tice's mom, and of course,
Tice was originally arrested for resisting arrest in Centerline.
We had the body camera video.
It showed a story about his confrontation with police.
and then how it escalated into Tice being tased, taken in, booked,
and then realized that his license was valid,
he had no warrants for his arrest,
and he had complied with officers.
Of course, he had ADHD.
But let us know your involvement in Mr. Tyler Tice's situation
as we are continuing to follow this story.
Well, first of all, America got a serious problem
when it comes to our people.
on the video that i've seen i didn't see no kind
of confrontation he obeyed every command on the
young man has a clean record he comes from a home
with both parents there's no broken home and i
just understand why he was treated like
a hardcore criminal i am demanding that charges be dropped
his mother is a judge his father works every day
and you're not dealing with a guy that's
is very doing a lot of negative stuff in this society
so something must be done you know and
i will continue to push the issue i know you haven't heard
of my organization but i have been
in the front lines for a while
and i am coming to detroit um next year in april 24th to hold a
national leadership conference i am inviting
the nolan wells family being Crump, Jasmine Crockett
and we talk about what took place there right
in detroit the issues that's going on and it's just
bigger than that. We are under attack as a people,
and I am very concerned how America is going,
but we must get justice for this family.
Gerald, I want to ask you this. I'm sure we've
seen a number of situations unfold like this.
What is your thought on how now we're hearing
that police, the judge had dropped these charges originally,
resisting arrest charges dropped
originally and now the prosecutor's office
is refiling these charges we reached out to the
prosecutor's office they did confirm that they
are refiling the those charges uh Sun Line City
manager has said that they are doing
an internal investigation into the police uh but we're still
waiting on answers what would you like to see done out
of uh both those situations with the charges
now being refiled as well
as this internal investigation well first of all i don't even
know why charges are being refiled i heard it was refiled
because your broadcast has been uh
exposing corruption you know
so that's probably why just the fact god has the last answer
unless your man charges will be dropped i think
that he will be living on his life and he also
have a mental issue so when you come up across
a mental suspect you supposed to be treated
differently aren't they trained for that in academy
but what i saying that this officer was
very upset i mean they got
and he was explaining hey what you know what did i do and this and that
or whatever because we do have rights
when the officers stop you do have the right to ask
questions don't get out of respect
but you have the right to ask why you stopped me in this and
this and that or whatever he did all of that so why
are you trying to recharge this man what are
you trying to prove you need to be dealing
with people that are real criminals out there which
are out there and he's not a hardcore criminal
and i pray for miss morgan you know and uh and
the family that you know and again
my organization would would step in immediately if i had to come
there beforehand to let them know
that that this young man should walk away freely and we just feel
that he's being he's being profiled right now
at this certain point he's being racially profiled
now these charges have been refiled uh what
is your advice what have you said to
mrs morgan and tyler tice well i told miss morgan you know god got
the last answer you know and i'm
hoping that the attorney they have is going
to fight to the end that he's a good attorney
you know and i'm just hoping that this young man can walk free
and enjoy life and enjoy his family
and he do not deserve to be behind what they're trying
to put him in jail behind bars for what
he's not a hardcore criminal like you said during
your your report his license was valid you're not
dealing with a criminal
so i don't understand what is going on what was a probable cause why
he got stopped that's what i need to know and then
when they ran his license they should automatically
know they're dealing with someone that got some sense it's just
the fact you're treating him like
he's a bad person and it's just the fact
that we're going to help this family get justice
and again if we don't get what we want
to get noise will be made in Detroit, Michigan
would you like to see both these officers fired? Yes
and then also we would like to have and i
have a local chapter in Detroit as we speak i'm going
to ask for an open door policy when i say
open door policy when issues come like this across
my table your door is open i could come in and
speak to you so we could come to a agreement
if not somebody's going to be um going to be
protesting in front of your facility
and i do that across this country right now my organization is
in 41 cities and 13 states throughout
the United States of America we're making history
As a matter of fact, Detroit is under the radar right now.
Joe Rose, The New Order, we do appreciate it.
We know that you will be in Detroit at some point.
I know that you've got the conference next year.
Let us know when you plan to protest, Center Line Police,
and we'll have that conversation again.
