Hello everyone! Welcome to my channel Alla's Yummy Food.
Today I'll share with you a recipe on how to make these Russian
tea cookies called пряники and these are slightly different ones.
They're very soft and very sweet and I've got another recipe for пряники
which I made with honey so you can check it out here.
I will include the links all the way here
and all the links in my description box. And now let's get baking!
We are going to need some icing sugar, milk,
egg, one egg yolk, pinch of salt, baking powder,
sugar, flour, some oil, I've got sunflower oil,
you can also use vegetable oil and I've
got vanilla pod but you can use vanilla extract.
Cut your vanilla pod lengthwise
and then we are going to scoop out all the seeds inside
so gently press with your knife and take out the seeds.
Put your milk into a pan, add your vanilla pod
and your vanilla seeds, just mix those
in.
In your kitchen aid, place your sugar,
your sifted flour, mix it together.
Once your milk reaches boiling point,
we're gonna take it off and add to our flour and
sugar mixture.
Then add your oil, add your egg and egg yolk,
add a little bit of your flour and baking
soda and mix that in and we're going
to add a little bit at a time.
Place the dough onto your floured surface,
add more flour on top if needed and we're
just going to roll it up until it's nice
and smooth and doesn't stick to our hands.
We're going to divide the dough in two
and roll out each piece.
Take a cookie cutter
and cut out as many circles as you can.
We want them to be nice and pale colour
and nice brown colour on the other side, so these
are perfect.
We're going to let them cool down for about 5 to 10 minutes.
In a bowl add your icing sugar,
we're going to make our glaze, egg white and we're going
to whisk it until it's nice and foamy.
So dip it into your sugar mixture, roll it around,
get rid of any excess and then hold
it on one side, use a painting brush
and spray around at the bottom and some sides and it
This is going to be messy, so get your kids involved!
