but yes today we're back talking about
the Montreal Canadiens as the talks are quickly picking up
with a Dylan Larkin trade on the table saying
that the Montreal Canadiens are ready to make
this deal happen so let's dive right into it
this report is from David Pagnotta like I said let's
just dive right into it guys
because it's it's a fun one right the Montreal Canadiens wait for Dylan
Larkin's approval as David Pagnotta
and NHL Insider said here that they're ready to pull
the trigger on a move for Larkin
so the package is ready for the Montreal Canadiens and they're
ready to ship it off for Larkin they're just waiting
for him to add the Montreal Canadiens
to his no trade list
and at this point after their his game in the Bell Center I think it's
looking good for Dylan Larkin to be waving that clause
and coming to Montreal I think a lot of
people showed a lot of love to him in that building
in their last meeting so it makes sense
to see Larkin be a Montreal Canadian after
this they have the assets there to make this trade
happen and I definitely think this is a key acquisition
to this team I definitely think
Larkin would think that he can win a Stanley Cup with this team
because I think with Larkin this
Montreal team would be unstoppable
but obviously Pierre LeBrun said his trade list hasn't changed
since his love uh from the fans in um in Montreal last Saturday
so you know it hasn't changed yet
but i think if an offer did come through
and all it took was for him to waive it i definitely think
that he would be coming to Montreal
and just kind of looking here uh we see the Bell Centre chance
we want Larkin whenever he was touching
the puck like they want they really showed this guy that
hey we want you on our team we're going to show you all the love
and i think he really liked this
because we do see a quote from him here
talking about how loud the fans were
and he said it was interesting.
I never would have imagined that in this building in my career
but they're passionate fans in my opinion.
It's the best atmosphere in hockey.
They're knowledgeable and they love their team
and that's how I read into it
and after a few seconds,
it was just back to focusing on the game.
So Dylan Larkin, he said,
has a lot of nice things to say
about the Montreal Canadiens fan base
and I know a lot of Montreal Canadiens fans
were happy to hear this after this
because obviously they all put their all into it trying
to lure Dylan Larkin over to the Montreal
Canadiens I think they did a really good job
at doing that and obviously he took notice and he's
kind of saying hey you know if a deal comes
through I think I'm going to come here you know
he's got a passionate fan base they're very knowledgeable
and I think it would be great to
see Dylan Larkin come to Montreal
because like I said I definitely think that would make them
a cup contender right now looking
at Larkin's contract he's got about five years left on his
deal at 8.7 million dollars uh it's
a great contract for Montreal kind of fits in with
uh the core of contracts they have
with like Suzuki Caufield Hudson like they're all on the
around the same numbers right
so uh he's not coming in making uh immediately more than everybody so i
don't think i think that's great for sure as well
so i really do like that and i definitely think
the contract is great uh for Dylan Larkin
and would definitely make sense and uh just kind of
looking at a trade package
that we got here I think Michael Hage obviously one of the top center
prospects the Montreal Canadiens have do center
our trade proposal here this is kind of what we're
looking for at a trade proposal we got Michael Hage
for Josh Anderson a top 10 protected first
and a second round pick going to Detroit
for Dylan Larkin I know Habs fans looking at this are
probably like that is a lot to give up for Dylan Larkin
but you get to keep Demidov you get to
keep all these other young core group of guys together
and you get Dylan Larkin back here
obviously you know Josh Anderson he's
on an expiring deal this year uh this is a guy who's
like wow I'm 5.5 million dollars yeah
so uh this is this you ship this guy out I love Josh
Josh Anderson and I would hate to see him go
but uh this is just a move to kind of make the cap
situation work for Dylan Larkin obviously you see Michael Hage go
as well obviously this would be a
great piece for the future for the Montreal
Canadians, but I do think that
Hage, he's going to come into
the league next year. The Montreal Canadiens
kind of have their core solidified
now and it would be hard to break
into the center
position right now with obviously being
clogged with
Newhook and Drouin
and Suzuki and Jake Evans.
I think it would be hard for Michael Hage to
jump over one of those guys coming
into next season, but Dylan Larkin is the guy
who immediately comes in. He centers the
second line and just dominates for this team looking
at Michael Hage for all you Detroit fans
who don't know he had twice 12 points in four games
so far in the NCAA this year last year he
finished with 52 points in 39 games
so he's just an absolute beast a great 200 foot player one of
the best center prospects that is on the go right now
and I definitely think that he obviously
carries a lot of value with him because he's a guy
who's going to be a cornerstone centerpiece
for any franchise that he's a part of,
and that's why I think this trade
obviously moves the needle for Detroit
to kind of say, okay,
we kind of see our Dylan Larkin of the future
in Michael Hage,
so we'll just give up, you know,
our, what, 29, 30-year-old Dylan Larkin right now,
and we'll bring in Michael Hage
for the future of this team.
Kind of fits the younger kind of side of the team
that they do have there right now,
and just kind of looking at Detroit,
why they listen,
Hage offers a future center building block,
a first and a second,
add a lot of draft value
with something that they can flip into another move
to try to bolster their roster going forward this season.
And Anderson, his salary balance is not the centerpiece in this trade.
This is a guy that you move out here to kind
of make the cap work in this situation.
And why Detroit hesitates is because, you know,
Hage has yet to prove himself at the NHL level.
There's no doubt in my mind that he will transition.
So I definitely think that's not a big part of this.
I think they will be willing to take a risk on him
because of just how good he has been playing in the NCAA level.
uh detroit may demand a better nhl return yeah we could see them maybe
not want hage come after
a piece that is nhl ready
but at this point i don't think the Montreal Canadiens will be willing
to move out one of their young core guys uh
so i definitely think michael hage is the guy to
build around obviously Shirovsky as well as a guy coming out of the khl
who is a great prospect as
well that could be thrown around in this deal
if it does go through as well and anderson trade
protection must be cleared he does have a little bit
of monetary modified trade clause right now
but i do see that you know i don't think detroit would be on that list
so i you know i think that
he'd be he'd be go he'd be good
to go here obviously we'd have to check in on that but
there are a lot of other guys that we can move off here uh
in terms to make the cap work as well so
i'm not worried about that but Montreal must budget
for dylan larkin as well after this trade
goes through uh we kind of just see
their cap space uh now you know they kind of got 3.8 now
after the moves they have 626 uh in cap space
so they will be cap compliance after this move with
this uh deal we talked about and that's all
because like we said with josh anderson's 5.5
million dollar contract and obviously there
are some conditions to clear here larkin needs to
approve montreal anderson's list like i said needs him needs to include
or doesn't include uh detroit
he will be able to make a trade here
and then confirm picks daily cap and roster compliance but
i don't i definitely think that's something
that will be under control for sure uh so i you know
i think i really do like this trade
for the montreal canadiens to be honest with you guys
and obviously it's a long commitment you pay
for an established center now you accept age and
contract risk but you keep the room to support
your young core right like uh you know obviously you
have uh Dylan Larkin coming in at 8.7
but like i said he kind of fits that mold the contracts that
can choose as I'd say pull a master
class on and how cheap he has
signed his young players up to long term and they're
all bought in to winning a couple of championships
here in Montreal and Dylan Larkin
I definitely think would be a key piece to
come in here and be a veteran
guy to kind of you know kind of help these
you know group of maybe like
mid 20s guys at this point
win a Stanley Cup and I definitely think he
would fit the mold be able to play
on the second line as well so let's get into
the lines as Dylan Larkin does deep in
Montreal's center mix. And if we just
take a look here at their
lines, including Dylan Larkin,
we kind of keep the top line the same here with
Suzuki, Caufield and Slavkovski. This is obviously
with a fully healthy roster for the Montreal Canadiens.
They may have Kreider, who was a big acquisition
for them as well earlier in the
season with Larkin and Demidov
on this second line. I think that would just be
magic. Larkin and Demidov will be
amazing together. Larkin's a great finisher around
the net. Demidov's a great playmaker.
Kreider's a guy who can get in front
and be big and try to block some
or tip some of these shots down i definitely think this would
be a recipe for success here in Montreal
on this second line definitely think obviously Larkin
will come in uh slide into their power play one unit
as well i would imagine if not starts on the
two unit then slides to the power play two
but i definitely think that bringing Larkin in is the
best fit and obviously kind of looking
at the bottom six without uh Anderson we have Bolduc
Newhook and Bolduc i really like this third line
to kind of all these kind of guys that are just
trying to make something happen here
and i definitely think we could get some great offense
out of this third line uh jake evans de noe
and texier is kind of what i have as the fourth line
i know jake evans is usually a center
so you know i would like to see him on the fourth line though
have that kind of defensive role that he does play uh
so that's kind of why i have him in this fourth
line here and obviously uh dobesh and fowler defensive lines stay
the same but i really do like
the look of the montreal canadians uh with dylan larkin
in this lineup to be honest with you guys i
think this lineup looks nasty it looks like
a stanley cup winning team i definitely think this
this is a trade that could really reshape the whole
you know, the whole future of this organization, right?
If they get Dylan Larkin in, we can win multiple cups.
and i think with larkin we can win one
But with Larkin, we're a dangerous team.
Like, I really do believe that.
And just looking at Larkin, he helps out on the faceoff.
dodd as well, 52% so far on the year
so he's doing a great job at that
and just kind of looking at why they should pursue larkin
They need to add a proving center.
uh you know obviously we've been looking
for a second line center for a long time we've been
talking about it probably two years now
and now is the perfect opportunity with larkin on the
market he gives suzuki another major matchup option as well
and keep an established young
core together obviously you don't have to pay
a lot for um you know in terms of this trade in
terms of getting one of your young core to leave
so that that's good there and obviously
you know would you guys do it like let me know what
you guys think uh you know obviously Detroit fans
down there Montreal Canadiens fans down
in the comments let me know would you do this trade
would you be willing to get Hage if you're in Detroit
and Montreal do you think this is a great
price to pay for Dylan Larkin no if you don't agree
with it let me know down below guys but
i'm very excited about this i definitely think
that Dylan Larkin should waive his no trade clause
to come to Montreal because i think if he does he'll
be walking away with a ring on his finger
before before the end of his career
so let me know what you guys are feeling down below in the
comments section while you're down there leave
