The Ukrainian Defense Forces achieved a significant victory near Slovyansk. The Third Army Corps managed to stabilize the front, pushing back the Russian army. This is what authoritative OSINT expert Clement Molin writes about. Russian Z-channels confirm: the Ukrainian army is successfully advancing in the Slavyansk region.
"After several months of Russian offensives on Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, the Ukrainian army has deployed reinforcements and begun to stabilize the front. For at least two months now, clearing operations have been ongoing east of Slovyansk to clear out Russian groups that had infiltrated the Ukrainian rear. Most Russian Telegram channels have been discussing this situation for several weeks now. It is also confirmed by numerous video recordings. This is further evidence that the Ukrainian offensive near Liman has first stabilized the front line and then pushed it back over a wide area," Molin wrote.
He clarified that at the moment, the initiative in this section of the front has passed to Andriy Biletsky’s Third Army Corps.
Ukraine's Operation Vivaldi in the Liman sector could complicate Russia's offensive on Slovyansk, according to a new report from the Institute for the Study of War, citing, among other things, assessments by Russian military bloggers. According to ISW, Russia fears that the actions of Ukrainian forces near Liman will prevent Russian troops from storming Slavyansk from the east. As analysts note, Operation Vivaldi not only created obstacles to Russian forces' plans to broadly encircle the so-called "belt of fortresses" from Liman and Dobropolye, but could also complicate further advances toward the cities of this defensive belt located further north. Kremlin-linked Russian military blogger reported a deterioration in the situation for Russian troops not only in the Liman area but also in the Slovyansk direction. He assessed that Ukrainian forces had consolidated their positions near Dibrova and Ozerne and were attempting to cross the Siversky Donets River to attack Russian positions near Piskunovka and Krivaya Luka from the north. ISW cites the Seversky Donets-Donbas Canal as another problem for Russian troops. According to a Russian source, Ukrainian forces are counterattacking in the areas of Yurkivka, Malinovka, and Tikhonivka, while Russian units are having difficulty reinforcing their positions due to problems crossing the canal. In addition, Russian sources report counterattacks by Ukrainian forces in the Rai-Aleksandrivka area and claim that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preventing the advance of Russian troops towards Nikolaevka. A similar assessment was previously given by Ukrainian military observer Konstantin Mashovets, who reported on the situation on September 28 and 29. "The elimination of the Russian salient in the Liman area during Operation Vivaldi is expected to complicate Russian offensive efforts towards Slavyansk from the east," the ISW report states.
