A Russian strike destroyed an apartment block in Pryluky, in Ukraine’s northern Chernihiv region, killing at least thirteen people, including three children, the Chernihiv regional prosecutor’s office said. According to Associated Press the strike has injured 50 people, seven of them children, according to the local authorities. Emergency workers and volunteers cleared rubble in search of survivors as the search and rescue operation continued. “There is no safe place in Ukraine,” Zoya Marchenko, 35, told AP. She had moved to Pryluky from Sumy seeking safety. Deaths were also reported in three other Ukrainian cities, including the capital, Kyiv, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “The Russians wanted to strike painfully and demonstratively,” he wrote on social media. Ukraine is searching worldwide for available Patriot missiles, which are in short supply because of the Iran war.
