Dog won't go to sleep until dad puts her to bed

My husband comes in with a blanket and he tucks it under her chin.
She lifts her chin for him to tuck it under and wraps it around her.
She gets a goodnight kiss and then she goes to sleep.
I'm Ash and this is Oreo's story for GeoBeats.
Oreo was a guide dog pup. We volunteered for guide dogs in Australia.
We were going to train her to become a guide dog to help someone with low vision.
It became pretty obvious when she was a puppy that she had anxiety.
So we knew pretty early on that she probably wasn't going to be cut out to be a guide dog.
But we had a lot of hope that she would probably be a therapy dog because she was so sweet and loving and kind.
We trained her for about three years and then they go in for an assessment period.
So you say goodbye as if you are never going to see them again, which is incredibly hard.
As I'm sure anyone who's had a dog can imagine.
And we got a phone call. She probably wasn't cut out to be a therapy dog either.
Because she had a lot of anxiety and quite various triggers that would be a bit difficult for someone to manage.
And before the person could finish their sentence, would you like to?
And I think I blurted out, yes, I will have her as our pet.
Because we already knew that we would absolutely keep her if the opportunity ever arose.
She's a very sweet and sensitive girl.
She's only four, but she acts a lot older.
I think because she's been through so much training, she's very well behaved.
Like the sweetest, most beautiful girl.
I'll be waiting for you.
One day my husband tucked Oreo in with a blanket and I think that's just stuck.
She starts out on her bed during the day, but then our bed is her bed at night.
We just kind of squeeze in around her.
You love your dad.
For some reason, I don't know how this started either.
But when the blanket is on her bed at night, it must be folded very neatly in half.
Otherwise, she'll just stand there and stare at you until you fold it.
Our routine has changed since I had a baby.
Because we used to get up straight away in the morning.
And we'd get up and go for a walk.
That was the first thing we'd do.
But since I've had a baby, the first thing I do is feed my baby.
And now Oreo's adapted to that.
So the first thing she does is she gets up in the morning, she walks out.
Because she knows that we're not going anywhere anytime soon.
Sometimes she won't even greet either of us.
She just walks straight from the bedroom, straight to the lounge.
Jumps up and then flops on a pillow and goes back to sleep again.
It's pretty funny that she goes from a very long sleep in our bed to her first nap of the day.
We always joke that she was meant to be a therapy dog.
But she's our therapy dog, unofficially.
She used to always bring me toys when I was upset.
And I thought that was her saying, like, come on mum, get over it, come and play.
But I now realise that was her way of trying to comfort me.
She's helped us through so much.
I won't go into all of it, but she has been a rock.
And she's the heart of our family.
She's our first daughter.
And I love her more than I could ever say.
Guys, it's bedtime.
I said it's bedtime.
What are you doing?
Oh, sweetheart.
