Shy cat finds someone who loves him
Oct 31, 2026
He was very shy.
They started telling me his story,
that he's a rescue that came from a hoarding situation.
His story really touched me.
He had an adoption before,
which unfortunately didn't work out.
So he was returned back, you know?
And that just kind of made me very emotional.
Not only did he go through this hoarding situation,
but he also had a failed adoption.
And I knew 100% that he is gonna be my baby
and he's going home with me.
You
ready?
Surprisingly, he got comfortable so quickly,
which again made me so emotional considering
everything he's been through.
He was exploring, he was playing, I got him toys.
He really liked the shower
which was one of the weirdest things. He's not afraid of water.
His personality is as unique as his looks. He's an American Curl.
Imagine a baby bobcat but the color of a creamsicle.
His ears are curled and then he has
extra toes on his paws.
He has six toes on each paw and they look like little hands.
Sometimes I think he's not a cat.
He's just like a little human because of his little extra paws.
He talks so much.
I'm getting yelled at if dinner is 10 seconds late.
If I wake up and don't go to serve
his breakfast immediately, I'm getting yelled at.
He loves to cuddle but he only likes to do it on his own terms.
If I try to pick him up he's not
gonna let me but then five minutes later he's gonna come
and lay on my chest. He likes to sleep
with me but again only without me taking him to bed.
He is next to me of course. He knows what he
likes and he knows what he doesn't like.
I had a few friends come over that he seemingly did not
Did not like, he was not letting them pet him.
He was bad.
Backing up, almost.
One time he crawled, he was on the floor at my feet
and he looked so scared.
I've never seen him act like this.
And then other times he wants to play.
When I'm coming home late, he follows me around.
I try to change, you know, wash my hands.
What he does to grab my attention,
he jumps up on my thigh, very high,
for me to kind of say,
hey mom, I'm here, I'm still here.
I feel like this is him saying
that he wants me to interact with him
and he missed me, you know?
Oh, see!
This is what he does.
Oh, Chicken.
It feels like I've had him forever.
I would tell Chicken, I thought I was giving you a home,
but you changed my life
and you changed what home means to me.
I'm Polina, and this is Chicken's story for GeoBeats.
