The Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon receive a new domestically produced ballistic missile capable of reaching Moscow, Irina Terekh, CEO of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, told CBS News. According to Terekh, Fire Point is just a few steps away from creating a ballistic missile. There's no specific timeline for when the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive this weapon, but it's expected to happen soon. We are talking about the FP-7 missile, which will be able to fly at very high speed along a ballistic trajectory, making it difficult for anti-aircraft missile systems to shoot it down. In August of this year, Iryna Terekh announced that the FP-7 was already undergoing certification by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. According to her, this ballistic missile has a modification that can be used to destroy ground targets. The head of Fire Point emphasized that Ukraine's first ballistic missile has already completed approximately 15 test launches. The development of a domestic ballistic missile in Ukraine could significantly bolster Ukrainian air force strikes against military and strategic targets in Russia. The FP-7 is expected to be able to effectively penetrate Russian air defenses.
Recall, Germany is discussing purchasing missiles from Ukrainian manufacturers as part of its long-range arsenal upgrade, Politico reports, citing German Defense Ministry documents. Berlin is considering three projects: the American-Israeli Anthem missile from Covenant Industries, the BARS from an unnamed Ukrainian company, and the Flamingo from Ukraine's Fire Point. Procurement negotiations have already begun with at least two manufacturers. Germany expects to receive the first samples of the selected systems for testing and certification as early as 2027. Following this, framework agreements for their serial production are planned. The new cruise missile is expected to become part of Germany's long-range weapons program. The German Ministry of Defense is relying on a relatively inexpensive system that can be mass-produced and used alongside more expensive missiles. Deliveries to the German military are also planned to begin in 2027.
