Let's get into sports.
We know the Atlanta Falcons are set to
face the Pittsburgh Steelers this
Sunday for their season opener and
Falcons head coach held a press
conference today to discuss what
they're doing, provide injury
updates and much more.
So let's go ahead and bring in
our sports reporter Kelly Price.
She has more on what we can expect this Sunday.
Hey Kelly.
Hey Jasmine, yep, the Falcons kick off
the season against the Steelers in
Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1 PM.
That is actually a game I believe is
on Fox 5 traditional over the air.
So yeah, I'm at Falcons.
Obviously the Falcons facility behind me
here practices at 215 so here in a little bit.
We just heard from Kevin Stefanski
as you mentioned earlier this morning,
but as well as Bajon Robinson,
the Falcon Star running back.
He actually just spoke actually
in a really interesting conversation
with him because the Falcons obviously
named to a tongue of Iloa as their
starter for week one.
It's been something that's been
talked about a lot with this team
because Michael Pennix Junior has
been working his way back from ACL
surgery this offseason and it was,
you know, kind of in the air.
What his status is going to be week
front week one because he was cleared
medically during training camp during
a couple of weeks ago in the preseason,
but he never played in a preseason game,
so it was kind of not sure if he was
going to be able to start for week one.
So there was a big conversation
around that a big controversy.
A little bit when they named to the
starting quarterback for week one,
but Michael Pennix Junior talking
about the fact that he doesn't
really feel totally ready,
especially mentally.
He feels like there's still a little
bit that he needs to get through
before he wants to get back out
onto the playing field.
But we talked with John Robinson
a little bit ago like I mentioned,
and he had a really interesting
perspective on the position players
here for the Falcons him wide receiver.
Drake London,
Kyle Pitts, the tight end.
A couple of these position players
who you know take the ball and
try to do things with it.
They want to do that for two of them.
But to kind of silence those
conversations that are going on
externally around the quarterback position,
they obviously have a really talented
offensive core with some of these
key players like I mentioned,
but they have really been talking
about wanting to make sure that
they are able to silence those
critics of to to kind of just
take the pressure off of him.
And let's hear from John Robinson
talking about that just a little bit ago.
The execution is is where the funds at,
and when we start executing at a high level,
and then really nobody could say nothing.
And all you can do is just watch,
but that's that's on us to make sure
that whatever play call that they have,
like we executed at a at a really high level.
Because then then when the noise
gets silenced like you know,
what else can you say?
All we can do is just put in the work.
So it's everything's on us.
You know we have to go in the game.
Prepare we have to go in the game
ready to execute at all costs.
Runner pass and then that's that's
what we have to do to take care of itself.
I'm talking about the pressure
they're trying to take off of to
a tongue of Ilo and his first
start in the red and black,
and we'll see if they're able
to do it Sunday, Jasmine.
Alright, I know many people are
looking forward to this season
opener and hopefully they do well.
Kelly, thanks so much for
joining us to talk about sports.
