DeKalb crews repair recurring water pipe break

It's been a frustrating week for some DeKalb County people trying to turn on their faucet. They're dealing with their second water main break in less than seven days. Tonight, repairs just wrapped up after a water main broke in Stonecrest. Fox 5's Hernan Gutierrez is live down there tonight. Hernan, even though their water is back, a lot of these neighbors just aren't happy. Yeah, Rob, they've been telling me that this has been a recurring issue in this area. One neighbor even tells me that they've seen upwards of four different water interruptions because of water main breaks this past summer. Take a look. There's still crews on the scene cleaning up some of that work from earlier today. We're near Ottawa Trail and Rock Springs Road where they are again trying to clean this up. According to DeKalb County officials, the break was repaired at about 3.15 this afternoon. An earlier announcement said crews were handing out cases of bottled water to residents who were affected. Jasmine Maps lives nearby and says there was a long line of folks waiting to get that water earlier this afternoon. She's worried those in charge aren't taking the problem seriously. Today the water went out again as of last night, which was Saturday night. The crew didn't come out until this morning. They didn't start working until 10 o'clock this morning that was a full 12 hours before someone actually came out to help us. Mapp says her water also went out Wednesday morning. DeKalb County leaders reported an earlier water main break in this same area was repaired at about five Thursday afternoon. Now if you live in the area DeKalb County officials say the water should be safe to use but you might notice some discoloration they're just recommending that you turn on those faucets run it a little bit to get rid of that discoloration.
